  1. I think the reason people pile on the hate for games like defender is that by the 1980's people wanted games that closely resembled the arcade version. (myself included). The biggest dissapointment for me was Pac-Man...I played it three times after my mom bought it for us for $30. My brother and I had beat my mom down for a month til she gave us a report card ultimatum. We both came home with B's or better so Pac Man was ours. The box promised that we could practice at home for free and wow them at the arcade...or somthing like that. Defender falls into that catagory of an arcade port that fell short. I think if you never played the arcade version these types of games stand up very well.
  2. I have always loved the thought of 2600 online play. The problem is....and maybe you programers out there can confirm this...would be that games would have to be reconstructed with an interface that A..works with the web page for players to "sign in", and B..allows those players to gain control of each control port...and C..a transition out back to windows with maybe a high score/leaderboard thingy. Nobel Prize to whoever figures out how to do this!
  3. 10,900 Love this game...got it on christmas and played all day...I believe it was 1983.
  4. Personally, I'd like to see at least 40 games including about 20 classics, 5 lesser known Atari titles, 5 homebrews, and 10 licenced classics from other developers like Imagic, Sega...etc. By the way, my 3 year old daughter just almost beat me in 3 plane vs fat plane on combat. I love my FB2!
  5. 8200 two things about this game 1. I still have trouble telling my altitude 2. I like how if you shoot somthing too close to you...you blow up also,,,only game I know of that does that. Off to try again.
  6. 1526 this game reminds me of chutes and ladders.
  7. 13,000 wasnt able to beat my high score this week....but i did tie it...all my deaths happen on levels 2 and 3.
  8. 9600 got a lil better this week, this is one of those games that is hard to put down....like a good book.
  9. 7350....thanks for picking this one. Now how am I going to get anything else done this week. I was hooked on this one in the day, and now I have to consider it in my top 10 all time favorites.
  10. The chair really completes the room....where do you get a mount like that for a tv? my atari room also doubles as a guest room for now, so I can't go all out the way you did. Awsome job!
  11. Oh nice choice! I'm gonna dust off the old paddles and try on my fb2...but I have a feeling I may use the emulator also....the ol paddles aint what they used to be.
  12. 4850 I'm gonna go ahead and move my stuff down to storage B.
  13. The easy answer is warlords This may sound wierd, but I like maze craze with 2 players and chasers. And my dark horse would be m network football...miss the tackle....just run around the world and try again.
  14. Dude...I dont think a hot air balloon could penetrate the van allen radiation belt....that said...I dont like this one 4490
  15. 50,572 I Love this game. what a great arcade port....I didnt have much time to play this week...but alas time to post.
  16. 4550 The controls have always bothered me on this one...I get a little too crazy on the treasure board and thats where I lose 90% of my lives.
  17. 34.39.....maybe I'll try the Burger King version
  18. 58,750....not a disaster since I only got to give this about an hour all week...fun game though.
  19. I think from a marketing standpoint, they thought they could run about a 15-20 year product life cycle....with add ons along the way. They certainly wanted the public to believe that this thing would be a must add on to the american entertainment center right next to the stereo(ads run at the time stated that) It's fun to speculate what would have happened had they continued to release software and expand the 2600 along with the developing technology. But...again from a marketing standpoint...the bottom line now dictates a product life cycle. For video game consoles...that appears to be 3-6 years.
  20. What a pick! I love this one (and many people have laughed at me for it) Anyway, great choice.
  21. 73,740. At least I improved as the week went on....aw crap, theres a bug in the house...gotta go.
  22. 61780...and Imgonna give it one more go tonight. This is one of the games I would most like to see a pause feature....about 3-4 seconds down time between levels, I find myself not blinking enough during gameplay...also, if I make a mistake early in a particular round, I seem to freeze for a millisecond and it costs me the next few bugs. Awsome score KB...so this rolls at 1 million?(not that I'd get there)
  23. Yes I know...of all the activision games....I pick this one. But hey, although simple in premise, this one is all about execution at the higher levels. Plus the guy looks like a young Paul McCartney....and he is on a roof top...which reminds me of the Beatles breaking up. (which motivates me to throw pots and hurt things). I need a vacation.
  24. 27,950 This is one of those that I can sit down and really enjoy playing for an hour. I may try to top this before the deadline.
