  1. ...and no new "lost prototype" from Kenfused? That said, Beef Drop and Frogger were certainly hard acts to follow. Ah, well.
  2. That could be just as possible. I doubt we'll ever hear the truth about the case; it'll always be slanted at least slightly in one way or the other.

    The UMD is dead!

UMD's remind me a whole lot of MiniDiscs. Same idea, same fate.
  4. Yes, and in any other case that probably would have mattered, but it looks like Michael Schiavo just wanted to get rid of his wife so he wouldn't be married anymore and could marry his mistress. Basically, the fact that she was in a persistent vegetative state (whether she was or not) was just his excuse for getting rid of her... at least, that's how it looked to me. Had he not had a mistress or any of those other things, and "remembered" his conversations with Terri immediately rather than seven years down the line, the situation would have been different.
  5. Hehehe maybe offers should be PMed... But I don't think I can do $40 and still have enough after shipping. Sorry I just realized I accidentally left the "or best offer" part up there. My bad.
  6. Bump: lowered the price, clarified box condition for Rampart. Or an update, I'll trade this for a decently equipped SGI Indigo2 workstation. I'm eyeing one on eBay
  7. EDIT: Sold. I have a Lynx Mk. I that I never play with sitting at my house collecting dust. I'd like to sell it to someone who will actually play it, because I certainly don't. All this stuff is at my house and I'm at the dorm so I'm not sure if some of them are boxed, but at least five of them are. You'll be getting: - Lynx Mk. I system, a few scratches but in very good shape - Six half-drained AA batteries (in the Lynx, easily removed ) - AC Adapter - Nylon Lynx carrying pouch (the one with two pouches on the front for games, a carrying handle, and the Lynx logo on it) - Batman Returns (boxed) - Rampart (boxed, box in bad shape) - Hydra (possibly boxed, can't remember) - Chip's Challenge (boxed) - Super Skweek (boxed) - Warbirds - Xybots (boxed) - California Games - Steel Talons All games are Curved Lip style. I'm asking for $50... I'll ship it out this weekend.
  8. They talked about Pong like people only played it because it was all they had, and not because it's fun. I found myself and my girlfriend exchanging looks, like, "...but, we still play Pong!" A decent series, though.
  9. Are you referring to The Broodwich? That's a classic episode... I love the guy in the alternate dimension with the axe talking about the way moonlight hits his severed head collection.
  10. For some real display fun, move Samus off the bottom of the screen... looks nice though, I like the weapon firing.
  11. 6 is MECC, aren't they the ones who did all the Number and Word Munchers games for Apple ][?
  12. I've been inspired by some of what Bruce Tomlin has said to start looking into Genesis homebrew, being a little bit of a 68k nut (written for my old Macs, Palm stuff, etc.) but I'm having a hard time finding anything but a memory map... any pointers? And what's this TMMS stuff? Writing "SEGA" to a serial receive buffer or something?
  13. Yeah, that was generally the way I felt, too. Road Warrior was much more entertaining to me, for whatever reason. Plus the fact that the truck is filled with sand never gets old
  14. The Road Warrior is an awesome movie, as well. Saw it first, then went back and watched Mad Max. Why doesn't Mel Gibson do edgy, weird stuff like that anymore? Oh yeah, Jesus told him not to (*notes that that was purely a joke, please don't flame*)
  15. Women's curling is fast becoming my favorite Olympic sport. The US team is attractive, which doesn't hurt, but mainly I'm sick of snowboarding and "extreme sports" and all that crap. Curling rules. If only it snowed/iced in Memphis often enough to play.
  16. I think Ben Heckendorn's site has a really nice vector rendering of the rainbow CV logo if you want to use that...

    Back up!

Referring back to the halftime show, if Keith Richards was actually playing that guitar then I'm Charlie Watts. He stopped at least two times to cough, and somehow I could still hear two guitar parts. ...the Stones were amazing from 1969 to 1973 or so, but... before and after that I could care less about their work.

    GTD: IV

If you decide not to take it any further, it'd be nice to see the source on [stella]!

    GTD: IV

I bet a really interesting original concept that was Galaga-ish could come from this...
  20. I voted Boulder Dash because NotBD is/was so tantalyzingly close.

    WarGames

I've been trying to come up with a good idea for a WarGames video game for years. Global Thermonuclear War for the VCS sounds fascinating.
  22. Glad to see the short-lived [channelf] mailing list spawned one dedicated coder! I gave up on the F8 a long time ago. Anyway, I think there's a lot of potential left in every system out there besides the ones that have been extensively developed for--I think in the next year or two we're going to see games start to hit the actual technical limits of the VCS, as in, we'll run out of new dirty tricks (at least on the hardware side without new bankswitching schemes). I would figure this will bring about another generation of homebrews, with really weird gameplay, or maybe even homebrew peripherals (AVox leading the charge, maybe we'll see new controllers, etc)... or maybe all of the innovation in the VCS space will move into software. There's some talk of this in the comments of one of Thomas' recent blog posts. This is what excites me the most, a new way of approaching coding the VCS. That, or ColecoVision, will be the future of homebrews. Though I'm still pulling for Game Boy.
  23. Once the cart shells, boards, and MMC chips become massively available, this will be the case, but until then... Not sure. What about Game Boy? It's Z80 (sort of), and fabulously well-documented. Seen the GB Cribsheet? I'd love to do some thing for Game Boy if I had the time and the tools on OS X.
