  1. A Actually, I live in a small city near Buenos Aires, Argentina, so... No? Thanks anyway!
  2. I think I already asked this question before and everyone answered one thing: you should definitely get either a PVM or BVM. After doing some research online, reading a bunch of articles on dedicated websites and watching some YouTube videos, the answer still is "get a PVM or BVM". After asking around, looking at some old TV stores and even sending an email to the local TV station (the bastards never replied btw,) I kind of gave up. I'll definitely keep trying because you never know when one of those will turn up, but for now, I'll rephrase the question: what's the best TV I can get to play retro games on that's not a PVM or BVM?
  3. I'm from a small city near Buenos Aires (around 250 miles from BA.) Now the easiest ways to get retro games is online, but the prices are steep. I use Facebook groups a lot, but you run into a lot of pirated or sketchy games sadly. I've always wanted to visit Rosario, looks like a cool place!
  4. I own a bunch consoles in my collection and most of them have big, bulky and ugly supply boxes that I hide behind a TV unit. For the longest time, I've been looking for a more convenient solution to store them inside something so that a) I don't have to look at them at all and b) I really don't want them gathering dirt and cat hair, since cleaning them is a nightmare. I already solved my cable problem with zipties which looks cool and is cheap as hell, but I haven't been able to find something that helps me with power bricks, any ideas?
  5. Hi! Thanks for all the replies. I'm from Argentina and as far as I know, there's never been a strong "Nintendo presence" in the country. Most of the genuine NES, SNES and other consoles we get here are imported and most sellers ask a lot of money for them. At least we got Nintendo Wiis at local Wal-Marts, but thjat's about it.
  6. I live in a country where most of the NES games you'd buy were pirated (cheap Chinese knockoffs that had hundreds and sometimes thousands of games.) Although that was the perfect way to get to know games that were never released officially by Nintendo here, I simply detest to collect pirated games, so over the years I started amassing a collection with the real thing. A few days ago, I came across a post on Facebook of someone selling a lot with 9 SNES and Famicom games. I have no experience with the console, since it was never officially released here, so I wanted to check with some of you before making an offer. I really want to get those games because you never find them where I live, so that solves paying to ship those games, but I want to make sure they are the real thing and that I'm not paying my hard earned money for nothing. How do I detect pirated games? Oh, I'd also appreciate it if you could tell me how much you'd pay for them. Thanks in advance!!! These are the games: Batman Returns, Super Street Fighter (Super Famicom), Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, Sonic Blast Man (Super Famicom), Clay Fighter, Taz-Mania, Demolition Man and Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions.
  7. I recently came across a post on Facebook of someone selling her Nintendo Wii with a bunch of controllers and games for pretty cheap. The only thing is, both the console and the games are PAL instead of NTSC. My idea was to purchase that lot and get rid of the Wii, since I already have a 25th anniversary Mario one that I absolutely love. So taking into account that softmodding the Wii is extremely easy, I was wondering if it's possible to install something to play both the PAL and NTSC games just by inserting discs from either region.
  8. I'm trying to get some Xbox 360 games I missed from back in the day. I recently found out that someone near my house was selling a bunch of 360 games, but they are all PAL games and I have no experience with those. My questions are: 1) is the Xbox 360 region free or does it depend on the console revision/game 2) is there a difference in price when it comes to PAL games? 3) And this one's just out of curiosity: do you guys have PAL games in your collections or do you mostly stick to NTSC games? Thanks and I'm looking forward to know more about this.
  9. I think that's the best entry on this forum, ha ha. Buying room to spare is better than buying games sometimes.
  10. I remember watching Yu-Gi-Oh episodes on that small screen back in the day. It seemed revolutionary, but the quality was bad even then. I love to hear that someone's really into collecting them years later, but I don't know about actually watching the content of those cartridges. I rather spend that much money on games I'm going to play rather than on episodes, but that's just me.Congratulations on the complete collection.
  11. So the home button has an amazing screen on it and it's only used to display the boot sequence from the original Xbox. It's awesome that it shows that, but it's unfortunate that it only shows that and nothing else.
  12. I really wanted to get one back in the day, but I didn't. I guess that was the right call since the the quality isn't great and there aren't that many great games for it. Also, isn't the controller terrible? Maybe one day it'll worth something, but I highly doubt it taking into account that the build quality isn't great and that the manufacturer isn't a company like SEGA, Microsoft or Nintendo.
  13. The last mobile game I remember really getting into was Solitarica. I beat it and then moved on, but I couldn't find another offline to play wherever I go. I often find myself in situations where I don't have an internet connection and most games aren't an option (I love Hearthstone, but I can't play it most of the places I go.) Solitarica was amazing though.
  14. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Switch games come in cartridges. I know the format's called Game Cards which most people associate with SD Cards, but I think their still cartridges. So if you have a Nintendo Switch, you're technically using cartridges.
  15. I'm looking for some collectors on YouTube that teach me about old and new games. I'm already subscribed to John Hancock, Metal Jesus Rocks and BeatEmUps, but I'm also looking for something new. I love seeing other people's collections, game rooms and rare finds, but I also want to learn about hidden gems, forgotten games or overlooked titles no one talks about. My favorite, hands down, is Metal Jesus because he seems like a cool dude, he has a ton of games to talk about, he always brings people to his channel when he doesn't know a lot about a particular topic, he has a great sense of humor and he kind of stays away from certain trends (violent editing and tons of let's plays.) Also, he also talks about music and vinyl which I also like. His channel isn't perfect, but I look forward to his new weekly videos. So any suggestions? I bet there are hundreds of people I have no idea about that are doing some amazing things out there.
  16. I'll be getting a PlayStation 3 at some point in the future and I was wondering what's considered the best model. I've heard the "phat" model has some heating problems and of course it's huge, but I think there's a specific model that plays original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games. That must be sought after so how do I look for that in particular? Then there's the slim that just looks cool and solid, but I've never owned one so I just don't know. And then there's the super slim model that I helped my cousin hook up a few months ago and looks and feels flimsy as hell. That's just personal experience from using that version for a few hours and it's completely anecdotal. So I turn to you guys Which is considered the best PlayStation 3 model? I looked up on some Facebook groups and there's barely any difference in terms of price between them. Just for reference, I never owned a PS3, so when I get the console, I intend to catch up on some exclusive games which means I'll use it a lot.
  17. For the longest time I refused to have a smartphone (I'm weird like that, don't ask.) I got one for free a while ago and I'm looking for some ideas for video game sound effects or songs to use as a ringtone, alarm and message sounds. Any ideas? There have to be thousands of obscure or older games I'm completely forgetting about and I'd like to have something that stands out to me personally so I'm open to anything video game related. It's easy to just add effects from Sonic, Mario or Metal Gear Solid as everyone on the internet suggests, but I want to hear other ideas. Thanks!
  18. I recently attended a family gathering for the long weekend and was thinking about bringing a console to play games. I'm doing most of my gaming on the Xbox One at the moment, but just the thought of moving that massive thing to someone else's house made my back hurt. So I ended up taking my tablet, but we couldn't use it because we were planning to play Hearhtstone which requires a persistent online connection and there was a problem with the Wi-Fi at the house that day. Long story short, we were thinking about playing some games and having some fun and couldn't, but just for future reference: which do you think is the easiest console to transport from one house to another and which one has the best multiplayer games (party games, board games, fighting games, racing games and so on.)
  19. You're right! I should have specified that I have an Android phone. I'll look up some of the titles you recommended. Thanks!
  20. I recently got a used Android phone and it came with a bunch of apps already installed (which I deleted as soon as I could.) One that drew my attention was a Game Boy Advance emulator with a Pokemon game in it and this made me think. Which do you think are the best games to play on smartphones. And I mean this in the sense that games like Pokemon, which are slow-paced and turn-based, are perfect to play on smartphones because you can take your time and you don't really need a D-pad for precise controls. So what do you think are the best games to play on a smartphone emulator that don't require a proper d-pad or strong reflexes?
  21. I've noticed that a bunch of games that originally came out on home and portable consoles are now available on phones. Some of those games include GTA: San Andreas, Knights of the Old Republic, pretty much every Final Fantasy or The World Ends with You, to name a few that come to mind. I spend a lot of time on buses and I'm looking some games I can play without an internet connection and on my phone or tablet and I hate ads and micro-transactions, so is there a comprehensive list of games that were released on consoles and made the transition to smartphones? Which ones do you recommend the most? Thanks in advance!
  22. I recently started using Kodi (former XBMC for those old to remember that software.) To be completely honest, I have no idea about the technical aspects of this piece of software and how it compares to similar apps on the Xbox One. From a personal experience though, most movies look good enough and the option of using apps within the apps, such as YouTube, Giant Bomb, the Weather and the ability of scanning your library and getting little bits of information about the movie like reviews or the poster is just great. I'm using the latest version which I think is in beta so there are some issues here and there, but for what it is, Kodi gets the job done and more.
  23. I keep all my ripped movies on an external hard drive and even though I have a dedicated media player for movie watching, I recently started using my Xbox One more and mote (not just for games, but YouTube, radio and other things.) So what's the best media player for the console? I tried the stock app, but it's not very good and I was wondering what other people are using for watching movies on their Xbox One consoles. I want something that supports a lot of files, like MKV, AVI, MP4 and so on and something that's easy to use/setup. Really looking forward to your recommendations! Thanks in advance.
