  1. Ok, yeah that is the way it has to be done at the moment, yes. I guess it could be one or two steps simpler if there was a disk creation tool in the Eclaire. A write protect toggle would be nice as well, I’ve never actually thought about it since I’ve always wanted to write to the .atr files I have. I keep a couple of backups on my computer so I don’t have to be afraid of losing anything.
  2. I don’t think I quite understand what you are trying to do. What kind of data do you want to save and where? Is it the .atr file you want to have write protected?
  3. I don't see why not. As far as I know, there's no way to create an empty disk image on the EclaireXL, you'll need to create one and place on the SD card manually. (or just copy another .atr file and format it into a blank in the program of your choice) I've sector copied real disks to an SD2SIO previously and it works just fine, this should be even simpler, if anything.
  4. I put together this little fan box art tonight. Such a fantastic little board, love it! Thanks again @foft and @santosp! Now just wish we had injection molded cases, proper boxes and manuals and stuff. eclairexl_box_front.pdf
  5. I really need to get cracking on finding someone close by that can print me one of those. Or start thinking about getting a 3D printer. ? Great work on the label as well!
  6. Ooh, I assume there is a place to find all these exotic ROMs? Would be cool to try out. As a follow-up to my own issues above I can just say that it is probably an issue with the emulator I was using. The Swedish ROM worked just fine when I tried it elsewhere and is now my default ROM image in my EclaireXL as well.
  7. If there are more Swedes than me and @KlasO I can recommend the keyboard I bought earlier today: https://www.clasohlson.com/se/Mekaniskt-gaming-tangentbord-Exibel-GKX-C/38-7975#undefined Now for finding a solution for the keys. I am running the EclaireXL with my original Swedish ROM, so the keys aren't the same as in the US sticker set earlier in the thread. I'll get back with some photos when everything is in place.
  8. Exactly, I checked Amazon UK as well, same thing. Amazon FR actually didn’t say it wouldn’t deliver to Sweden but they didn’t have it in stock, so I’m guessing it’s the same from them. I’ll keep looking ...
  9. Have you seen them for sale somewhere in the EU? I am tempted as well but the import fees from the US makes it twice as expensive ...
  10. Oh, that’s perfect! Just what I was looking for. Now to find a reseller closer by ... Thanks for the tip!
  11. Mine appeared this morning after a very snappy delivery over the weekend from Greece to Sweden. Thanks a lot @santosp and @foft for a true work of art of a product. Thanks also for having the latest core pre-installed, took me a while to realise I should test that first before trying to install one myself. Hope to source someone to print the beautiful XL case from @wt808 soon as well. Good times! Tomorrow's project will be to transfer the Scandinavian ROM from my original 600 XL.
  12. Can I have your place on the preorder list?
  13. Sorry, I completely forgot to check in when the delivery showed up. Arrived safe and sound, amazing build quality and very professional packaging!
  14. Great, thanks! Time to get the Jaguar up and running then. =)
  15. Fair point ... I wouldn't mind a PS4 I guess. But if I was to start thinking about getting one, I'd probably start thinking I "needed" to get the pro version and the PSVR headset. And then we'd be a bit beyond those $200. But then again, running T4k in VR would probably justify it.
  16. Well, if it has a proper Llamasoft T4k then I'm getting one.
  17. I'm glad you were inspired! =) Yes, the Spectrum Next is probably a very unique case, with the original's inexplicably large UK following. Plus the fact that they managed to get the original industrial designer to design a great looking new case. I also think they managed to hit a good price point and looked very trustworthy in their campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1835143999/zx-spectrum-next BUT: they certainly didn't have any cool new 3D demos AND it wasn't a Fuji logo on the case. Considering the evidently failed Ataribox, that's probably something people would go for. Now, securing the rights for that might be a very different task of course ...
  18. I think there could be a target group that just doesn't hang around these parts of the web... Remember the Spectrum Next? They had more than 3000 supporters. Granted, that project was on a different scale but still. And maybe I'm not the only one being very interested in an ÉclairXL but lack the skills to contribute anything this early in the project.
  19. Is it too soon in the development process to try something like a Kickstarter project to gauge interest and raise funds?
  20. The temptation! =) You will remind us when the time comes, right?
  21. Ah, sorry, no not at all. I'll definitely be buying an Éclaire anyway, but a remake case would be a fantastic bonus. And since several projects are using the mini ITX standard, I'm hoping there's an industrial designer out there that would fancy doing an Atari 8-bit look-a-like mini ITX case.
  22. I'm not a fan of the generic mini-itx boxes but realise the pros of keeping to a standard. I'm hugely envious of the Sinclair fans who got the Spectrum Next and would easily jump on a Kickstarterproject that did the same with the Atari 8-bit line. Given all these great projects you mention, there really only is need for a nicely designed box that would fit in with the old XL and/or XE lines ...
  23. I thought that joke would be obvious enough to not need a smiley. For good measure, here's two of them: :P
