  1. Off-topic: We so need another Florida Classic Gamers Meet if possible.

There was an event in Florida??? I was hoping that I would catch things like that! :(

Are their pics of the 2007 event?

  2.

If that isn't hard enough photo two shows now the same challenge with charging apes added, Now I must jump over the ape avoid the bat jump down on the gator jump back off the gator avoiding the apes and the bat to make it across the screen.

I reached that stage at around 2,3000 pts. After about 50 tries, I gave up. If there was to be an end to this hack, this stage is it. That's because even if I happened to pass that stage, I don't expect to see anything cool. Just more insane music. :)

  3. I've been playing this for about 15 minutes, and I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do! :D

I ended up turning it off because I was expecting to get to an endpoint, or at least get a gold bar or something.

It is an interesting idea for a hack. And you got rid of the original music which helps. I also got a kick out of jumping on a turtle and using him to get back on the main level. If I didn't find that, then I'd be bored. :)

Are the apes from "Sky Skipper"? Part of me thinks that scorpions would be better, but the apes are cool.

  4. Offering up mock screen shots without offering any suggestion as to how they might be achieved, however, is not useful. At minimum, you should offer any insights you have as to why you would expect your proposals to work.

    That's exactly what I thought. Of course I wasn't so eloquent. :D

Back in the day when I use to run "Jerky's Arcade Hacks", I'd get e-mails like this all the time. "You should put South Park characters in PacMan!" - stuff like that. And I'm like, "Dude, you do it!"

  5. I tried to change Custer's Revenge using both Bithacker and Showgfx. And you're right--even the slightest changes stops the game cold.

However, Atari Troll was able to hack the game and make Custer's Viagra.

I think that there is a checksum process in the game to prevent pirate copies. Do they do that for Atari 2600 games? I don't know. I'm guessing that Atari Troll got someone like Nukey Shay to stop a checksum process or something like that.

    Maybe you can ask him?

  6. This hack almost made me bang my head on my desk. So I have to say something!

    Fabventure, please stop making hacks.

    I played Airwolf.

    I played Tron/Berzerk.

    I played Trenchfighters.

    I played Donkey Kong Fusion.

And now I just played Crazy TV.

None of these hacks are finished in my opinion. But you keep making more of them!

I have at least 5 hacks that I made. But I think they suck, so I didn't post them here.

Most of your hacks have something wrong with them. They would never be a good cartridge. Fix one of them!

Yeah, I'm sure that I sound like an A-hole, but I had to say something after the 5th hack.

  7. You just shot yourself in the foot. You don't want to spend time making a game that you potentially want to put out on carts? :?

 No. I wrote that I didn't want to spend time disassembling Moon Patrol if someone else has already done it.

  8. I've been trying to search the forums for this, but I'm getting screwy results.

Does anyone have a disassemly of 2600 "Moon Patrol"?

I had a idea that could be neat--even cartridge making potential! Then again, it could totally suck. :) It may be just a graphics-only hack so I'm losing points already...

It's an 8k rom and I'm feeling lazy right now. Plus I don't want to spend a lot of time disassembling the rom if someone already did it.

    Thanks in advance,

  9. You know, a few years ago, I was into hacking arcade roms (I used to run Jerky's Arcade Hacks).

I tried hacking an arcade ROM once and it didn't work because the machine's POST did a CRC or checksum or something and refused to run. Is there a way around this?

When I ran into that problem, I would just post my problem on a message board. Usually, you'd find someone, like Nukey Shay in this forum, that would help out if what you were doing sounded cool. :)

But the arcade hacks are pretty much dead as far as I'm concerned so I don't know if you'd find the help as fast as I did 6 years ago!

  10. You know, a few years ago, I was into hacking arcade roms (I used to run Jerky's Arcade Hacks).

There was one hack that I was particularly proud of and that was my hack of the arcade game 1942. I changed all the graphics and called it Galaga-X. I have no idea where one can get a copy of that hack these days, but it does turn up on Google searches. :) Anyway, I can see a hack author be proud of his work no matter what others think.

But I never saw so much hype of something so insignificant as Cyplix! I wasn't bothered so much by the hack itself because I've seen my fair share of lame-assed hacks!

What kills me is all the products involved with this. It's crazy I tell ya! :P Like I'm going to want Cyplix clothing! Jeez.

  11. Thats a neat idea Jerky, you can try it again, just erase the top portion of the At At's, and use the leg areas to do the Scout Walkers, you could animate the Scout Walker walking, and still have it small! it could'nt hurt to try it!!, anything is posible!!  :)

Well, here is what I pretty much had before I gave up. I created lame versions of the Scout Walkers. And when I saw it shooting from areas that were filled by the original graphics, I gave up.

Here is a screenshot and the .bin

  12. One of my first attempts at hacking a 2600 cart was "The Empire Strikes Back" too! :)

I tried to change the AT-ATs into the smaller Scout Walkers. I had it looking pretty decent except the flashing portal thingy that you can shoot to destroy the walker would show up in an area that used to be occupied by the larger AT-AT graphics.

And since I know nothing about Z80, I gave up pretty quickly. Maybe I can find the roms and posts it here for some advice...

  13. This hack is terrific! Great job, Stan and Nukey!

I played Spiderman all the time 20 years ago.

One thing though...I forget if it's level 4 or 5, but the building is white! :o

I still saw where the web was going because the tip of it flickers. Plus, I climb the building the same way, so it's forged in my memory. :)
