  1. Yes. This also happen with other joysticks and even with the paddle fire button. And those controllers work fine in the original Atari. Is something with the signal. I have a generic 2600 controller and also happen with it, but less frequently. And and I don´t think is a mechanical thing with the button, because when fail I can keep the fire button fully pressioned and not register. Maybe is something that can happen in other units but people did not notice if play very little or games where you are always smashing the fire button. A way to test is star Hero and keep pressing the fire button. Not fast, just long presses to see when not work. Is random, but in the 20/30 times should get a one time not working.
  2. You guys are having problems with the Flashback X sometimes not registering the button press? Is very random, but really frustrating when happen. I upgrade to the official firmware 0.18 but keep happen. Those custom firmware could someone make the 2600 better and solve my issue?
  3. Hi. My Flashback X has the original firmware 0.02. The last official from the ATGames sites is 0.1.18. There is a changelog about what was improved or altered? Thanks.
  4. I saw a video on Youtube with the Trooper 1. It is the same thing, with metal that you can remove. Took them away and now is the same weight as a normal 2600 controller. But it is not the same internal plastic stick of other 2600 controllers, in case it breakes...
  5. I bought one to play on Retropie. The extra buttons are great. The stick is kinda of rigid, but ok. The weight I dont´t like, heavier than a Xbox controller. And the base edge is not round like a tradition 2600 controller, huting the hands. The weight is because all the chips or there is some artificial weight added by metal that you can remove? And I need to take off the 4 plastic pads in the bottom? I removed the two exposed screws, but the controller did not open. Thanks.
  6. On Retroarch Wii I got "Exception (DSI) Occurred!" only loading Atari 2600 games. Tried older and new Retroarch version. Roms .bin, .a26. Same problem. The game blinks for a moment and crashes into Exception (DSI) Occurred!. Any hints? Thanks.
  7. Thank your dor the game and the paddle support.
  8. The paddles worked in another 2600. The problem is with the console hardware. This console had a av mod and got all the caps replace. Maybe some cap can be causing interference. But is possible the cause is the TIA chip because when the paddles are connected in the second jack and I move one of the paddles to the far right, the colors in the screen change.
  9. I have a darth vader 2600 model. First I only played Night Driver and seems to work. But maybe is because this game is more binary left/right. All other paddle games the sprite move corner left to corner right, without gradation. Any hint where the problem can be? Thanks.
  10. It is from the book Art of Atari. But I can´t find a bigger, entire image on internet. Thanks.
  11. Update: could be a weak signal from the mod that some TVs did not like. Running the AV cable into a VCR greatly improved the image quality.
  12. In 14" TVs looks almost fine. You can see a little grayish in the white parts, but ok. Now I tested in a 29" and looks super bad. The white is very dark. In Pitfall, the colour around contamines the white text above. Again, this happen a little in 14", but in 29" TV is way worse. That 29" TV works ok with my Genesis in AV. Is also a little blurry, but not like with the Atari signal. One other effect is that the some blue colors has become very shinning. In Kaystone Kapers the police color becomes diffuse when is in front of one of background blue squares (this don´t translate very well in photo). This happen in both TVs. The guy who did the mod is good, but specialized in TVs, not videogames. One thing that was made is convert from Pal-M (Brazil) to NTSC. But any 90s brazilian TV supports NTSC. And all the caps were replaced. Any hint about what would be? Thks.
  13. Finally got an AV mod for my original Atari (brazilian Polyvox model, from around 1985).
  14. Thanks. In long term this can damage the videogame hardware?
  15. Of course the rom will be pirated. But this will change the sales for collector who buy because the physical cartridge? Maybe in part, yes. But the downside is that a lot of cool new 2600 games and they are restrict to youtube videos for most people, rather than creating a bigger audience. And for overseas the cost a physical purchase is much higher.
  16. Thanks. I believe is my Atari that need a good recap and maybe the voltage is not perfect. The colors are off. Adjusting the color pot helped, but not solved 100%.
  17. I bought in Brazil. Has a generic label and a reset button on the side. No screws that I can see so I don't want open now. It was cheaper than a cartridge with SD card e and I just want something to play with my original Atari. Another thing happing to me is that the cartridge seems to be generating a vertical noise. My Atari was already super noise, than maybe is more susceptible to the cartridge voltage. The effect is more noticeable in Kaystone Kapers (I have a normal cartridge of this one to comparison). Noise in general is because old caps? Thanks.
  18. Hi. I just bought a multicart and after a few minutes the cartridge is warm. Not overheating, but I can feel the plastic way warmer than a normal cartridge. It is normal for this kind of cartridge?
  19. I believe that was not a homebrew, but a late release of a very complex game. You walk in a lot of rooms, taking objects or power ups and fighting enemies. I remember reading that Atari was wasting resources doing this 2600 game rather than a 7800 new release. Thanks.
  20. Took some photos from the Atari Portable outputing into a 14" CRT TV. The cellphone camera change the colors a little. The sound and image go to the same cable in that 3.5mm jack, but the result is cleaner than the original 2600 RF output. The emulation seems fine, with the sound a bit off.
  21. The chicken is not send back when hit by cars. The portable flashback hardware has issues with some games. Later it was posted here a fixed .bin that works.
  22. Another thing, anyone teste the AV output in a CRT TV? I have a cable that worked in a flat tv, but in the CRT I only got sound, not image. Don´t know if is the cable or the system signal.
