  1. Thanks, I saw it on your site. I would like to be the programmer you did, but with basic, using the cortex, do you think it's possible? Because BASE 040H+(2*18) from the basic manual I can't understand 2*18 well..

The Cortex manual is your first port of call, which Ksarul has kindly provided above.

I think you're on the right track ... but if just checking the LED at boot up it may flash too briefly for you to see. You could use that output to trigger a 74LS123 monostable to extend the pulses a bit and make them more visible on the LED.

If you want to experiment a bit more with the hardware with a minimal system, you could connect a 9901 to the sideport as shown on the left-hand side of http://www.stuartconner.me.uk/ti/images/eprom_programmer_circuit.pdf and play around with the input and output pins. Trying to do this using XB is a bit of a pain - you would be better off getting a MiniMem cartridge and using EASY BUG. Once you've got 32K available, then Cortex BASIC gives you better control of the CRU than XB does.

(One of my TMS9900 PCBs (http://www.stuartconner.me.uk/tms9900_breadboard/tms9900_breadboard.htm) might also be of interest.)

Hi @Stuart, where can I read the various commands to read and write the 9901 via Basic cortex?  I see from some examples on your site that there are CRU commands, similar to the Basic of the tm990/189, is it the same?  Can I use them with another basic?

So 2 scenarios come out of this...

TimC) I guess I never tried wasting time on used chips. So, it sounds like if your chips are used, the savings has to be spent on a Xilinx supported cable so that you can use the official software to reset them.

Fabrizio) I would still be suspicious of a chip that couldn't be programmed with my Xilinx ISE produced .jed file. There is something not fully understood remaining in this result. RickyDean was able to program with the official .jed files. Maybe his chips were new or pre-erased. I am suspicious that there are parts of the chip not programmed by using the read CPLD .jed file vs the ISE generated file.

I think if selling or sharing these, a responsible thing to do is make it clear to the purchaser or recipient that the CPLD is used or not.

Jedimatt, I don't know what to tell you, as soon as the USB cable arrives I'll try this. Thank you very much

That is why I provide the STP files! Glad you made use of them!

(I wish more people released CAD models along with the stereolitho models like I do.)

In my case, I baked in supports, because Cura kept trying to generate support material in.... bad places.

(like inside screw holes, inside the hinge mechanism, etc.)

It was easier to just bake a support in, and disable supports.

excellent, but it takes too long to print, is it possible to have the source file to modify?
    Thank you

For me, I bought a Xilinx programmer from Amazon and downloaded the Xilinx LabTools 14.7.  Using that, it stated my chip was write-protected.  I was able to erase it with this utility and then program it.  My next step will be assembling it with the Raspberry PI and trying it out.  Hopefully I can get to that this weekend.

I also got a programming cable, but was intrigued by programming via rp0.  Also because I want to try to test the 95144 before using them with the FG99.

Ah, that's why I was having trouble too, more than likely. I'll look for that xc3sprog soon.

@RickyDean ciao, it finally works 😍, I was able to read a working cpld, as both the one found on the Jetimatt site (tipi_cpld) and on github (tipi_cpld-v3), don't work for me with xcsprog. I read the cpld from a working pcb, with the command
    sudo /home/tipi/xc3sprog/build/xc3sprog -v -c sysfsgpio_creator -p 0 tipi_top_read.jed:R ,

then I used the file to program the pcb assembled by me.

    I attach the file..

here you will find information for the programmer:

@fabrizio I have made it to this point, but cannot get past this. Does it mean that I have a Chinese fake? apparently it seems not to be empty, not blank, is there a way to erase it while mounted on the tipi? Now this is the first one, I just tried a second one and it programmed just fine. I'll try the other 3. Well after trying the other 3, I have one that took the program, 4 that did not same messages as below.

With these cplds I had various problems programming them with the Finalgrom99, of a reel of 10 only 2 worked, that's why I purchased the socket to test them...

The one tipi/32k sidecar that did program, doesn't work with the installed 32k. So I get a green screen then a memory full condition and then some random odd characters on the screen and it stops. So I placed my sidecar SAMs on the end and when I initiate call tipi the configuration screen loads up. So at least this one sidecar has a malfunctioning ram chip, maybe.

hi, I finally programmed the cpld with the tipi_cpld.zip  version, the programming information corresponds to the document. I tried with the tipi_cpld.zip-V3 version from the Jedimatt website, it doesn't download, then I tried from gitHub, I tried to program the cpld but it gives me a "segment error" while if I try again to use the tipi_cpld.zip  version it works. Well I put the RAM, eprom, sd, after a few seconds of loading from the call tipi command the Memory Full error comes out with various characters on the screen.

That does not look like the chip will be properly powered in that socket.

And if you could please edit/delete that last nationally derogatory sentence, I would appreciate it.

it works well I tried various cplds that I couldn't program directly on the FG99.

Ho letto male Internet... il comando da provare, per installare il requisito libftdi di xc3sprog, è: sudo apt install libftdi1

    after installing libftd1

    command

    sudo /home/tipi/xc3sprog/build/xc3sprog -c sysfsgpio_creator

    answer

/home/tipi/xc3sprog/build/xc3sprog: error while loading shared libraries:

It seems like some of you all are using some sort of ancient archive of the wiki or some third-party docs... If that is the case, I would recommend throwing them out. The wiki changes along side most updates to the TIPI software.

    Command ->

    sudo /home/tipi/xc3sprog/build/xc3sprog -c sysfsgpio_creator

    Answer ->
/home/tipi/xc3sprog/build/xc3sprog: error while loading shared libraries: libftdi.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

It seems that this library is missing, or am I wrong?

The wiki was updated the day after InsaneMultitasker's post. The wiki describes the procedure that last worked for me. The issue described by TimC on this thread's previous page does not yet indicate a problem with the process on the wiki.

thanks for the reply, I'm doing some tests starting from an RP0 W, when I give the first command

    curl https://apt.matrix.one/doc/apt-key.gpg

    I get the error

curl: (7) Failed to connect to apt.matrix.one port 443: Connection refused
    the site is not reachable

I finally got around to installing the JTAG header on my 2nd TIPI card so that I could update its CPLD.

@jedimatt42 when I enter the 'curl' command from the wiki, the response is 'no valid openPGP data found.  (I used my RPI to update the first card's CPLD in 2020, however, I reformatted the SD card back then and didn't reinstall xc3sprog at that time.)  How should I move forward and are there any wiki steps in need of any refreshing?  Thank you for your help.

Hi everyone, they brought me an FG99 with the RAM (as6c8008-55), apparently it seemed to work until we tried the (TI extended basic), the FG99 blocked, I replaced the RAM with (cy62158) no problem. Now I don't have an AS6c8008 to do other tests, but I would like someone who has the fg99 with this ram to do some tests with the TI extende basic. THANK YOU
