They still do. For example, ZPH got a takedown notice for mentioning the name of his (deceased) cat Atari, which is depicted on a ZPH T-shirt. He also had to change the shape of his awards.

They had to change the shape of the awards?   Interesting!   I guess I need to pay them another look.

(Guess I'm glad we got ours when we did). :P

  2. Thinking back to my pre-2008 self, I believe there was a version of me that wanted to work for Atari, or impress Atari.  How fun it would be to work for Atari.

Then we, or at least I, got a different view of Atari when Combat 2 and Adventure 2 were being worked on.  An Atari that did not care that we had a childhood love for the system, or the games, or wanted so much a pat on the head for even remembering a game system that had long been obsolete.  The Atari we got to know said "drop what you're doing and step away from the innovation".

Atari figuratively held us by our ankles and shook loose anything that was theirs (the Atari emblem, and anything that remotely looked like their property) and once that was all shaken out, went back to their offices where they were not heard from for a while.

And it was then I realized the Atari of my childhood was no more.  But there were places I could go and have fun with fans, and that spirit of wonder we could all share together.  And I found it interesting that "Atariage" lasted longer than the original time of Atari.

And there are still such places the wonder of Atari and early games can be shared.  And until this place is gutted as a corporate asset (not a matter of if but a matter of when), you can do that for a while here too.

    That's a reasonable explanation.

Now somebody needs to explain "Galactica 1980."

So what do you do when the fans scream for a show to continue, but to do so you slash the budget in half?   Well Star Trek season 3 was in the same boat, and in their case most if not all the actors and actresses stayed on, and through some good stories carried things on for another season.

And Battlestar Galactica (1978) was not so lucky.   Same scenario, the fans screaming for a show to come back.   It was green lit, and like Star Trek had half the budget.   Set on Earth to save money.   Pushed into a family friendly time slot, so limitations on how much violence could be shown in an hour.   So the original cast was mostly Lorne Green-Adama (who reportedly was unpaid, but he was just enjoying Galactica so he stayed on) and Herb Jefferson-Boomer.   Richard Hatch-Apollo and Dirk Benedict-Starbuck have said repeatedly at cons "We saw the script and said ... nope!   This does not look as good."

So new actors were cast for new characters Troy and Dillan and the stories are fun enough.   The brief ten episode arc before the beloved "Return of Starbuck" series ending story, well, G'80 has a fairly complete story, at least I thought so.  Colonials find Earth, establish careful and limited contact with those on Earth, and make an mutual alliance with a farm on Earth for the Colony after their agro ships are destroyed by Cylons.   Doesn't hold a candle to first season of Battlestar Galactica, but a fun sci-fi story with Battlestar trappings regardless.

So....Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back. is for what system? PC? Seems like if nobody ever says a system ...Must be PC...I don't use a PC for games, but that's me...

Don't have a PS4 or XBOX1 either so.... Well PM me if a SNES or Genesis game ever appears OK? You'll be my hero!

Oh sorry Gold Leader, Woolies Strike Back was on PS4 and Steam.

Are you still looking for the Bubsy games on SNES or Genesis?

  5. That would have been cool.  At least an Arnold right?   But as far as I can tell the Bubsy plushes were only made for the developers at Accolade, and made during the Bubsy 1 time frame.  So when the Bubsy plushes were made, Arnold and the other characters were not in use.  And later when Bubsy 2 was being developed, the fame of Bubsy was riding off the fumes of the first game, so no extra marketing money was spent on other plushes.

  6. Have mostly used Macs since I moved on from the Atari 400 in 1989.

A majority of the time the Macs have been rock solid from 1989 to current.   No real hard drive failures.  Mostly just keyboards wearing out after like... seven years.  :D

Lately I have had to deal with the unfortunate aspect of my Macs from 2011 not getting system security updates.   Jerks at Apple, who do they think they are not supporting my computer from... almost a decade ago.  :P

Luckily I have a friend that is in the IT field and he passes on his older Macs to me, which are newer than what I have.
