Not jumping ship* I have this question:
What other forums are good for Atari news and conversation?
* (but realizing I shouldn't put all my eggs in one basket... )

True, this has been the go to. Kinda consolidated it all nicely into one place.
There are a few places I know of. For starters, quite a few Facebook forums for Atari.
I see some activity on Atari.org. A very dated and unsecure site sadly. 😕
This one looks active https://atari-forum.com/
Club VCS... looks cool.. https://forums.atari.io/forum/131-vcs-topics/
And back that up a bit, the other forums.. https://forums.atari.io/
There's lots of Atari out there, just curious what other places other people find fun to frequent?

If you anticipate wanting to contact me, please note my email address andrew@taswegian.com
Although a knee-jerk reaction, I have considered how I would respond once this sale/acquisition was confirmed. I'm not interested in any way supporting Atari. They did wrong by me and it still smarts.
So I expect I may disappear from this site. I'll mull over it for a few days. But basically, fuck it.

As I like to point out, is the "Atari" that hurt you THIS current Atari, or one of the various Ataris in the past?
I learned somewhere along the way, probably around 2008, that the childhood memories I had with Atari stuff, and the corporation calling itself "Atari" was not the same.
So I get in a minor way the "did wrong by me" comment. I remember when the Atari back then came down on some people wanting to develop games and getting the good ole C&D. Was a valuable reminder that these memories were not just fun in our heads, but active properties still of some people still hoping to make a buck.
Selling this place to Atari is about akin to crossing the streams. It is good to separate what you care about from business. And very rarely do hobby and corporate money mix well.

So you are in favor of it. Bottom line, happy for Al and him landing his gig at Atari. This Atari. Glad he has this arrangement with this Atari.
We all know "Ataris" don't last any notable time. And the relationship between this Atari goes well for that duration, this place will be passed on to the next owners. Whoever that will be. 😕
As your video seems to imply, the place may have been on borrowed time, but now rather than being in the fate of hobbyists, it is in the hands of Corporations and Lawyers. Very different world, and a few different way of wrapping up this place.

Back in the day... did you ever send a letter to Atari describing an idea for a game?
-
I've submitted parody song ideas to a radio station that was doing parody songs. Even one that was completely written.
With the purchase of Accolade by Atari and along with it the Bubsy franchise I mentioned to Atari through Twitter if their could buy the rights to Fast Eddie they could add my Bubsy hack for the Atari 2600. Never heard anything back on that.

Now that AtariAge is owned by a heartless corporation, how long will it be before Al gets replaced with AI?
-
I'll be honest, I found the news a little depressing. At least I broke the bank with my "last chance" orders.
-
There is a big difference between hobby community and official corporate site, is my thoughts on it.
I believe things will go more or less "business as usual". Of course before we were a bunch of hobbyists and developers, and no matter what "Atari" did, no matter how good, or stupid, this place was not related to those "Atari's".
But now, after all the Atari's we've seen, this place has sold this place lock stock an barrel to the current "Atari".
So whatever decisions Atari makes now directly effects this place. And when that Atari goes down, this place will be passed on to the next Atari after that.
So... maybe not COMPLETELY business as usual.

Is there a place to upload a game that I just created for anyone to be able to download? As far as I can tell there does not seem to be any sort of TI web site that you can do this. Thank You

I refereed a kickball tournament yesterday for about 6 hours for free, and I will never do that again. It is amazing how adults act sometimes. I only got cussed out once, but I had players arguing with me plenty of times.

The social media collapse has just been fabulous for my mental health, considering that I don't socialize much outside the internet. The web has become a sensory deprivation chamber; it's maddening.

I'm pretty sure Brock Lesnar's sword tattoo is an undercover tribute to the ! on Bubsy's t-shirt.

I have some of the most rare consoles and games on the planet in my collection and when I show it to my neighbors, they are without fail like "Oh a NES/N64....COOL bro I remember that!"
