  1. Just what will the 'pinball' segments look like?
  2. Judging by the footage, it's quite good. By the way, you have a lot of balls to pull off something with a 320-pixel wide mode.
  3. @Peteym5: That Old English Dictionary site is really helpful, especially when coming up with spell and monster names. Know any for Old German, Old Norse, Old Swedish, Old French, or Ancient Greek? As for the demo, I have to agree on using less-infringing characters and graphics.
  4. Here's an excellent cover of The Great Mighty Poo theme! https://soundcloud.com/kawabounga/bullshit It just may be the best song I have heard from the past 20 years. (This is including Ryan and Daryl Mitiska from Apocalypse Cartoons.)

  5. I'd get started on overworld sprites and tiles, just so you can have something to work with. If you need another pixel artist, I know that Hyptosis does custom spriting.
  6. Would a 40-year-old African Grey parrot with a foul mouth be a good RPG character?

I think you're going to run into encumbrance issues. I recommend a barbarian that only quotes Schwarzenegger's *other* movies. "Get to the choppa!"

      Both sound like good ideas.

  7. Would it be considered cartoon heresy to say that Animaniacs hasn't aged well? Sure, there was Slappy and Pinky and the Brain, but beyond that...

@jd_1138: same with me. 1940s cartoons held up through time rather well.

I barely saw it back in the day, but seems hilarious to me :) I Love the old Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies as well !

  8. This does have potential to be good. However, it's hard to see what's ahead of you and there's only idle rev sounds.
  9. I don't know if you guys are into Grave of the Fireflies, Pom Poko, or My Neighbors, The Yamadas, but Isao Takahata just died. I liked The Little Norse Prince despite Toei's meddling.

  10. It looks like John K has joined the sexual scandal pile. http://www.michaelbarrier.com/#johnk

  11. Easily one of your best. Now I'd like to see further proof of this concept.
  12. Multi Lock On reminds me of certain stick figure cartoons on Newgrounds. In particular, Xiao Xiao, Fluidanims, anything by Phillips Lacanlale (Terkoiz1), Michael Sung's MicWizard, and anything by Nhazul. I can see Mord and Atarius Maximus' demos being made into actual games, but without the copyright characters.
  13. Maybe you should send a copy to World of Longplays.
  14. I still consider the Super NES Star Ocean my personal favorite of the series, and in my Top 20 Super NES games. Blue Sphere has three fan translations, but only the French one was finished and released. I hope the two English ones aren't abandoned because they looked promising. By the way, am I the only person who prefers "Fate Linegod" over "Fayt Leingod"? (The latter looks really stupid. Yeah, many of the character/location/spell/item names from TtEoT onward were either mistranslated or changed into something dumb.)
  15. I discovered this on YouTube while looking at Shin Megami Tensei videos: After downloading this for free before Dec. 24 of last year, I have to say that this is one of the better "Metroidvanias" for the PC. And the most peculiar thing is that Atlus made it official. It makes me wonder why no one at that company thought of it before. Attention Atlus and Ladybug: Make more SotN-style Megaten games.
  16. As much as I liked watching the original TMNT cartoon ('87-'96), I will admit that it hasn't aged well. Hell, I can see why Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman hated it. The 2003 TMNT, on the other hand, is criminally underrated and is easily the best thing 4Kids has ever done.

2003 Turtles are definitely better, but I like how the 2012 series "split the difference" between the old and new shows. Baxter Stockman getting chopped to bits in the 4Kids series was a little too intense for me.

      MrMaddog

2003 TNMT was the closest you'll ever get to the original comics. '87 version was just a toy commercial...

I still owe my parents a massive apology for forcing them to endure that part of my childhood. And also to my grandmother, who took me to TMNTII:Secret Of The Ooze when it came out. Yikes.

  17. How about we port some of the obscure titles I suggested?
  18. So, are there any other non-Warner/DC cartoons that patterned their styles after B:TAS besides Gargoyles, MK: Defenders of the Realm, and The Big O?

  19. Am I the only person here who has heard of RosenKreuzStilette and MegaMari?

    1. Dragon Princess Yushira

      Dragon Princess Yushira

Nope. I have. I never played them but seen them in action.

  20. I thought about having a CEM3394 chip in my homebrew carts, but doubt that they are still being made today. (That chip was used in Bally Sente's arcade hardware and at least one Sequential Circuits synthesizer.)
  21. I recall someone on Newgrounds making a Flash remake of Ninja Golf back in '03. Criminally underrated title, and it still bothers me that certain tight wads (read: Hardcore Gaming 101) continue to bitch about it. Seriously, both versions of Ninja Golf were not bad. (Trust me, there are worse games out there.)
  22. I've had this idea in which you take any bad Rob Liefeld drawing and re-drawing it into something actually good. (Don't just limit yourselves to those two Top 40 Worst lists.)

It's fun drawing in his "style"

  23. LED Storm/Mad Gear (This would also be an excellent Lynx port): The arcade beta had both jumping and a transformation ability.
  24. One More Day is still the biggest zit on J Michael Straczynski's Spider-Man run, if not his entire career. Here's Linkara's take:
