  1. Just because I agree with Osamu Tezuka and Bill Scott that 'a good story can save bad animation, but good animation can't save a bad story', doesn't mean it should be used as an excuse. Either 1: People will start to get tired of looking at bad animation; or 2: the stories/jokes/etc. go to shit whether the animation improves or not.

Sounds right...Something tells me you might be thinking of a specific show?

  2. So, do you have any gameplay footage to entice interest?
  3. Dragon Buster (Which was referenced in Tales of Legendia) The first game with Double Jumping, a life bar, and branching paths. However, I'd add the improved controls of the NES/Famicom version, the title screen art of the MSX version, and the intro of the PC-8801 version.
  4. Curt, I look forward to the Rev. 3 XM being completed.
  5. If you guys want a good PS Vita/PS4 JRPG, try Exist Archive. It's proof that Tri-Ace hasn't lost it.

  6. I will say this about Baruusa's Vengeance/Baruusa no Fukushuu, the game was released unfinished because Zainsoft ran out of money. Speaking of the Fujitsu FM Towns and Sharp X680x0, I know plenty more games that could be ported, but they would be better suited for the Lynx or Jaguar.
  7. Baruusa no Fukushuu (Baruusa's Vengeance): https://hg101.kontek.net/baruusa/baruusa.htm Dinosaur (though this would be better suited for the Jaguar): https://hg101.kontek.net/dinosaur/dinosaur.htm
  8. Man, drying out a service manual that got left out in the rain isn't easy.

  10. The Legend of Kage Just imagine this on the 7800, but with the dual joystick holder.
  11. I thought it would be time for a dedicated thread for Tri-Ace games made from Star Ocean 3: 'Til the End of Time onward. This happens to include Valkyrie Profile, Judas Code, Exist Archive, Infinite Undiscovery, and their other unique titles.
  12. It's been years since I last played it, but I still prefer the Super NES/SFC Star Ocean over the PSP version.

Oh yeah, very much so, and I also feel exactly the same way about Tactics Ogre SFC vs PSP.

I really liked all the little graphical details that none of the sequels had. Come to think of it, I also prefer the SNES/SFC version of Tales of Phantasia over the PS1, GBA, and PSP versions for the same reason.

  13. It appears that both games could have used more in terms of replay value. Still solidly made, though.

    XM games

I have considered XM support for my homebrews.
  15. Hmm...a YM chip add-on would be nice, but does Yamaha still make those?
  16. It's a shame that most comedy these days is uninspiring, unfunny, bland, and predictable. Sure, there's Edgar Wright, but despite imposing skills, he isn't the next Robert Altman or Ivan Reitman. Luckily, I'm writing my own comedy movie.

The funniest comedy I've seen in the last decade certainly wasn't an American movie (Kung Fu Hustle)

  17. Too bad that the 7800 had no multi-tap... (I know the 2600 had four controller ports.)
  18. Brain Breaker (Talking about obscure, even by Japanese computing standards) Auto Duel (An obscure Origin Systems game) I think the more obscure titles could use more attention.
  19. Am I the only person who noticed that elements from the Mario and Zelda cartoons eventually ended up in the games?

Thanks, now to plan on which to get: '67 Dodge Coronet 440 sedan, or a first-generation Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a 305 CI V8?

  21. How's this for obscure, and it's from Taito: Pyros/Wardner
  22. Actual screenshots and gameplay footage would be nice.
  23. I've been on a roll with drawing 7800-compatible tiles with Paint.NET. Source files available upon request.

Put them into a game! :-)

  24. Reminds me of the late-'00s Flixel craze on Newgrounds, but on the Atari Lynx. I look forward to the finished version.
  25. I look forward to actual gameplay footage. Judging from the art style, you must be a big Taito fan. (Bobble Bobble, its sequels, and Bonze Adventure.)
