  1. Am I the only person who thinks that a One Piece MMO/Open World game would be doable if Toei and Bandai Namco played their cards right? At least it would be a better Assassin's Creed 4 or Sea of Thieves than both of them.

  2. Am I the only person who thinks that Earthbound Beginnings/Mother 1 is an open-world NES RPG?

  3. Am I the only person who wouldn't mind seeing American McGee's take on Little Nemo?

      More like little De-mo ?

  4. And now, something from Mike Pollock:

I'll try to look for Eric Stuart or Ted Lewis.

Same here, glazball, and what kind of dogs did you have?

My condolences.  I lost my dog about a year and a half ago, and I still miss him dearly.

      Sorry for your loss.

  7. Anyone remember Spectre?

Spectre GCR was amazing.   Nothing like a TT030 and STacy being a better Mac than a Mac.  :P

      IntelliMission

I remember the DC character. The late 80s run was decent!

Fun fact: Spectre was created by one of Superman's co-creators.

@IntelliMissionTalking about one underrated character, and hopefully one that didn't get screwed up.

  8. Arabian Fight:

I think this may be the game that resulted in the term janky being coined. This game, despite having an interesting use of sprite scaling and hand-drawn/cel-animated characters, felt more like a tech demo rather than an arcade game. For Sega brawlers, stick with Golden Axe (save for the misbegotten Beast Rider) and Streets of Rage.  As for arcade Arabian-themed games, Taito's Arabian Magic is still top-notch.

      retrorussell

Yeah, this was awful.  Some good ideas just crapped on with poor scrolling and awful sprite scaling.  I think they just tried too much with this game and the end result was irredeemably clunky.

For some reason, my mind ignored the word "don't in there, and I was about to reply "all of them!"

So yeah... can't think of any that I don't hate.

Rayman Origins does them very well.

  10. As a big fan of Oddworld, I noticed something was off with New 'n' Tasty. (Despite New 'n' Tasty being one of the better Unity games.)

This video illustrates perfectly why I don't play any games released after 2005:

      - By forcing the realistic look, they messed up the art direction.

      - By forcing the analog controls, they destroyed the precision of the original.

P.S.: This is a message to everyone in AtariAge who still hasn't played Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus: go play them now, they're awesome, they're Another World on steroids.

I also recommend Shriek if You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th and Mafia. Parodies/Screwball comedies are sorely needed this decade, but not from Seltzer and Friedburg. Hell, the Zucker brothers helped ruin the series after Harvey Weinstein fired Keenan Ivory Wayans.

I loved the one ( 4 maybe? whichever one it was) that parodied War of the Worlds and Signs....Especially that beginning part where it's like Signs and they're running through the crop circles saying What does it all mean??  And the camera pans out to an overhead view and it's an Arrow that points to their farmhouse and says ATTACK HERE!  ...Heha...That kills me!

  12. As much as I find George Carlin to be hilarious and Maurice Sendak one of my influences; both men became extremely bitter and somewhat hateful towards the end. (Ditto for Alan Moore and Milton Knight.)

    1. Random Terrain

      Random Terrain

Many people have died over the years. It's a big club and you're not in it . . . yet. :D

  13. As much as I love EarthBound and Beginnings, Mother 3 was largely a disappointment. Not bad, but the dearth of good music, characters, and difficulty curve hurt it considerably.

  14. As much as I love Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier, and both of the Sin & Punishment games; I'll be the first to admit that Treasure's games are not above criticism. In particular, I still think that  Radiant Silvergun's storyline is awful. Not helped by its maudlin, barely-animated cutscenes and dull, uninteresting characters.

  15. As much as I want to buy Blasphemous and Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth; those will have to wait until all the bugs are fixed.

  16. As much as people hate Contra: Rogue Corps, it did a better Legacy of War than Appaloosa/Novotrade. Of course, I know a certain series of Third-person shooter that did 3D Contra better than Konami.

  17. Aside from Eternal Darkness, are there any other instances of Latin in video games? (Barring fan translations.)

There's a couple of medieval RPG games that have latin in them as well, but the names escape me atm

I forgot to mention Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, which used Latin for Shanoa's glyphs.

Oh, and I decided to help him out by creating enemies, and possibly a new player CHR graphic set.

  21. Attention indie studios and aspiring developers: don't give people overlong cutscenes that can just be covered in two minutes or less. Avoid repeating the mistakes made during the CD-ROM era.

For what it's worth, my newly formed game company has "no unskippable cutscenes" in its mission statement.

It’s sufficiently ridiculous to take time to listen

to... what sort of nonsense is all this, where do people find it ?

But, wait... its about  cats  ,.. so

      who cares?!!

  23. Baked Alaska, aka the original Ice Cream Cake:

I know that it's a lot of videos, but this is something I'd like to try.

I ate that years ago at the Delmonico in New York.  Baked Alaska is good!

  24. BANG ON-On-on-on...BANG ON!

One of my favorite songs on Wipeout 64.

  25. Best anime villain from last decade: Charlotte Linlin AKA Big Mom from One Piece on account that she's dangerous, delusional, deranged, deadly, imposing and yet charismatic. Besides an elderly woman who is really screwed up in the head as a pirate captain oozes with originality.
