  1. My rankings of Bandai Namco's Tales of series (So far): Symphonia, Phantasia (SNES), Dawn of the New World.*

*=I know that people will hate me for saying this, but this is not a bad game.

So that explains the blurrier, more pixelated textures.

Yeah, the PS2 version is bad. I heard it was bad when it released in ~2004 or so, but then I actually bought it in 2009 when I moved to Japan. It runs at half the framerate of the Gamecube version with additional framerate drops on top of that and super muddy textures. I think the reason that they ported the PS2 version was because of all of the extra stuff that they added in that version. I can't think of any other reason why they would choose that version.

    4. SlidellMan

      SlidellMan

Yeah, ideally, the Hi-Def version should have had much better textures than what they went with. To tell you the truth, Bandai Namco should also have ported it, along with Destiny DC, Destiny 2, and Rebirth on the 3DS. (Seeing that it got a port of Abyss.)

  2. I know that I've said this numerous times on various websites, but I find Final Fantasy VII to be pretentious, poorly-paced, convoluted, poorly-written, and boring. On the other hand, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers is still excellent to this very day.

  6. For those who grew up with Rainbow Brite, or had friends, sisters, nieces, or cousins who did:

Hallmark just couldn't recreate the success of the '80s original. I will say this in defense of the Dynamite comic: Brittany Williams' artwork was excellent, but wasn't well received in the writing department.

  7. Unpopular and Controversial opinions, Volume 15:

-Link's Awakening is still the best 2D Zelda.

-Outside of Stiff, inexpressive animation, the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon has aged well.

-I don't think the Intellivision Amico deserved to be cancelled.

-If Square Enix was serious about turning a profit, one of the first things they should do is stop following trends into a minefield.

-Micro Cabin was the best third-party developer for the 3DO.

-Nightmare Busters was the closest thing to a Super NES Gunstar Heroes.

-The Slayers deserved better than to be DLC for a gacha game.

-Deep Fear's US release didn't deserve to be cancelled.

-Oliver Stone peaked with Scarface, and hasn't produced worthwhile since.

-NightCry was the worst game from Team Silent's alumni. (Yeah, they went to work on that after leaving Konami.)

So long as you're not saying it's better than Ocarina of Time, I'll allow it.

I have no opinion on the rest.

    3. BassGuitari

      BassGuitari

I agree! The game (DX on GBC in my case) just hits every note for me. Plays great, not overly convoluted, simple interface, looks/sounds great, lots of personality, and an expansive yet still somewhat compact game world. And it's honestly got one of my favorite plot arcs of *any* game I've ever played.

Man!  I need to go back and play some Twisted Metal as those were always a favorite of mine...Of course I disavow the PS3 version as the car won't control with the D-Pad so it doesn't exist to me except as a paperweight.

    3. SlidellMan

      SlidellMan

GoldLeader, as much as you hated that change to analog steering, it was inevitable. Of course, I played the N64 versions of Vigilante 8 and its sequel with the Analog Stick.

    4. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

They could have left the controls alone,...And had it control like Every other Twisted Metal Game.  At any rate N64 is different because you can still control the stick with your Right hand,  on PS 3 it's on the left...

  10. Unpopular and Controversial opinions Volume 5:

-I think Joel Schumacher got a bad rap due to his Batman films.

-Kirby Super Star (SNES)> Kirby Super Star Ultra. (DS)

-SNK and Arc System Works should do more than just wash-rinse-repeat fighting games. (Just how is KoF 15 any different from KoF 12-14? There is barely any distinction between Guilty Gear Strive from Xrd and Overture.)

-Sonic 1 went downhill at Labyrinth Zone.

-Zootopia was the first good animated Disney feature since The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

    -Strange Magic > Frozen

-Dave Chapelle is still funnier than the rest of Comedy Central. (Yes, this is including post-9/11 South Park, The Man Show, and The Daily Show.)

-Transformers: The Movie (1986) was underwhelming and dull. (Still better than the Bay sequels, but that isn't saying a whole lot.)

-CV: Rondo of Blood is the weakest of the 16-bit CastleVanias, including the Super NES Dracula X.

-Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert should go back to acting.

I always felt that Sonic 1 went downhill somewhere around Green Hill Zone.

Don't watch Comedy Central, so you could be right.  But the things I've seen from Chapelle recently seem (to me) to have comedy take a back seat to "lemme lecture you for a bit."  Not really a fan of that, myself.

I like The Lost World: Jurassic Park, as well, because it gave us the killer Arcade game, the book was good, and had some good console games on the Saturn and Genesis. Also Trespasser for the PC, was rad.

Anything after that though, was meh.

    3. SlidellMan
