  1. For those of you who like Silent films:

Keaton's physical hijinks were insane and still impressive.

Yeah, and the kind of physical comedy he and other silent film legends did is sorely needed these days.

  2. I thought I would share this: With the 20th Anniversary of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door around the corner, I have to say that the original still holds up to this very day. Here's hoping that Nintendo and Intelligent Systems add some new content such as a New Game +, additional difficulty settings, and some of what was cut due to time constraints. Fun fact: Admiral Bobbery was originally going to be an Army General. (Source: The Cutting Room Floor.)
  3. I've always been a sucker for '77-'86 vector graphics as seen in Asteroids, Tempest, and Major Havoc. Luckily, there have been several doujin game authors who have used that lost and underrated aesthetic. (One example would be Kenta Cho.)
  4. Nice! By the way, seeing that Alister Brimble is working on Daemon Claw, I wonder if he's going to be using those samples he used for The Lawnmower Man? (SNES version, I might add.)
  5. One thing that sealed the deal on Arkanoid: Doh it Again: The level editor. I had a lot of fun making levels and playing them with that. Nintendo of America made the right call by bringing it stateside. @WavyGravy I wholeheartedly agree with you on Energy Breaker and Chaos Seed.
  6. Paper Mario: Wish Upon Abyss

Some of these Paper Mario ROMhacks are worth checking out.

  7. @DJ Clae Congratulations on you and Mr. Jakes reaching 20,000 subscribers!
  8. I admit to playing the VS. Com mode in Bust-A-Move and liking it: Taito really went out of their way to make this one of the best home versions of this game. Oh, and I wrote this enemy name comparison years ago: JP: Zen-Chan, Mighta, Monsta, Pul Pul, Banebou, Invader, Hidegons, Drunk, Rascal, Skel Monsta US Romstar: Benzo, Boris, Blubba, Boa Boa, Bonnie-Bo, Incendo, Bonner, Rubblen, Baron von Blubba US NES/SNES BAM: Bubble Buster, Stoner, Beluga, Hullaballoon, Coiley, Super Socket, Incendo, Willy Whistle, Rubblen, Baron von Blubba.
  9. Looks like the Saturn version of Silhouette Mirage is getting an English tranlsation: Romhacking.net - Translations - Silhouette Mirage Granted, they're using the Working Designs script, but with a nicer font. As an added bonus: Grandia English Patch | SegaXtreme More of XL2's Hellslave:
  10. I'm surprised that Sega never made a proper Mega Drive/Genesis version of Outrun Europa. Eventually Probe Software did get better at game design in the mid-to-late '90s with the Extreme-G games.
  11. I have to hand it to Lucille Ball, she was willing to go out swinging despite being in her 70s:

  12. The Arkanoid ending theme remixed:

By the way, the ending theme to Arkanoid was made for a dummied out credits scene for the arcade original.

Original song: Hisayoshi Ogura (OGR), C64 verison: Martin Galway.

If you thought that Arkanoid DS had an awesome soundtrack, listen to Arkanoid Returns and Arkanoid Plus/Live's OSTs.

I delivered on the Arkanoid Plus/Live OST.

  13. I wonder if that rotary joystick works with Heavy Barrel, Midnight Resistance, or that one Seta brawler whose name evades me?
  14. Congratulations for getting your game released, Dr Ludos. If you need a musician for your next project, just drop me a line.
  15. Finally, SNK decided to make a new Samurai Showdown RPG, and that makes me happy.
  16. Time for some Deep House:

I will give these a proper listen over the next couple days and give you my opinion. I'm looking forward to it. Thank you for sharing.

  17. Be sure to tell Ozzy Yzzo, Coleco Gamer, and Jag_Mag about them, too. (I emailed them last night. Ditto for Division of Aqua Ippan fame.)
  18. I thought I would include a proper gameplay video:
  19. Cyborg Force is looking to be an A+ game. By the way, while I was looking on PixelJoint, I found this: Superficial Xerox NEO-GEO @ PixelJoint.com That was made for Newgrounds' Neo Geo Jam: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/764314 If anyone is need of a pixel artist for their homebrews, talk to him, Pixel Artist - Rhamnys (pixeljoint.com), and Pixel Artist - TimJonsson (pixeljoint.com). By the way, Jonsson worked on Knight's Chance.
  20. It's nice to see some of SNK's other fighting game series get something new. Now if only they brought their sports series back and gave Electronic Arts a much-deserved run for their money...

  22. Might and Magic Book I for PCE/TG16 CD has now been translated: Romhacking.net - Translations - Might and Magic
