  1. I saw several Atari 2600 cartridges in today's Antique fair in Slidell. (Crystal Castles and Circus Atari were amongst them.)

I may have to make that drive one day.  I think 2nd and charles is probably (unfortunately) the best game shopping experience we have left in the metro area.

The closest 2nd & Charles in my area is in Covington, just north of I-12.

Yeah, that's the one I'm talking about.  South shore's been a wasteland of nothing for a solid half decade. I got my vectrex from that 2nd & charles.

  2. Why is that so many terrible-to-mediocre games end up with good-to-great music?

OK...If we're all being honest...*ahem*  I Love the music to the SNES game COOL WORLD!...(There.  I said it.) I know...I know...(hangs head) ...Not horrible though,  because of Great music and pretty neat graphics,  at least for some of it,  I don't mind the game...

      SlidellMan

Another example is the Metal Morph OST:

By the way, Martin Galway was one of the composers and recorded the synth samples.

In all seriousness, the reason why bad games end up with quality music is because of a misallocation of resources.

  3. One of my all-time favorite comics:

I didn't find out about Valiant's Nintendo comics until 2000-2001. By the way, one Archie comics artist pitched a new Mario comic a few years ago. If that wasn't enough, there's also the aforementioned Super Mario Adventures Continued and New Super Mario Adventures fan comics.

But I always just think of him as the Unicorn in the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon.

  5. Riot by NMK

  9. When I heard that Sony was re-releasing Playstation exclusives, I was hoping that it was going to be A) the entire Psygnosis back catalog, B) the Windows 95 ports of Twisted Metal 1&2, and C) the Windows 95 ports of the Jet Moto trilogy. Alas, it turned out to be God of War PS4.

By Psygnosis' back catalog, I'm talking about their DOS, Amiga, Mac, and Windows releases from the late '80s to Drakan.

@GoldLeader Yes, it exists, but it was Japanese exclusive and had a low print run. Here's a few videos:

Granted, it was basically a straight port with few enhancements. Such as LAN two-player and 640x480 resolution.

To tell you the truth, I never had any real disdain towards the character, but see why he is hated. He was one of those things that Hanna-Barbera got very wrong. (Others include poor IP evolution, blindly following other studio's trends, bad color theory in the '70s and '80s., and Kwicky Koala just to name a few.)

  17. Vigilante 8 has surprisingly aged quite well when compared to its sequel. Though, in the latter's defense, if you have a '73-'77 GM A-Body in your car combat game, Luxoflux and Activision did something right.
