  1. The PC-Engine's 6-Button Controllers:

    Bonuses:

  2. What the retail release should have been. Oh, and System Shock's remake is out!

  3. Pixel Art, Cyberman voice, etc.:

  4. What the cancelled SNES version of Batman: Revenge of the Joker should have sounded like:

As for the Genesis version turning out so badly, I blame Sunsoft for giving Ringler Studios a cruel deadline.

Some more Gotham in Danger remixes:

I'm surprised that there aren't more remixes other than Gotham in Danger.

      So, so sorry Man.

I lost my Mom a while back, it really never gets easier, unfortunately.

Hope you are OK, Bud. Same sentiment as bent_pin, gimme a shout if you need to talk, this, that, the other. I've "got a minute", if you need one.

      RIP to him, for sure.

  6. Re-writing the Halo TV Show:

I think 343 Industries could learn something.

  7. One of my all-time favorite comics:

If only Nintendo green lit a new series of Mario comics...

I discovered on YouTube recently that I bet people here would like:

I only remember the Nintendo comic books made by Valiant...

I didn't find out about Valiant's Nintendo comics until 2000-2001. By the way, one Archie comics artist pitched a new Mario comic a few years ago. If that wasn't enough, there's also the aforementioned Super Mario Adventures Continued and New Super Mario Adventures fan comics.

  8. Brass, Reed, and Woodwinds you never heard of:

In all fairness, Piccolo Flutes are pretty well known.

  10. Shmup Junkie is running a poll for best 16-Bit Shmups:

    Shmup Junkie - YouTube
I'm glad that he added R-Type 3 and Rendering Ranger in that poll.

Looks like the Super NES had far more Shmups than most people realize.

While I prefer 8-bit, soooooo many goodies in 16 bit world. I'd go with Bio-Hazard Battle, Genesis.

Speaking of 16-Bit, Mr. Jakes just released this:

Too bad its translation patch was abandoned just before completion.

  11. Random Megami Tensei thoughts:

-SMT4 has the best Law hero; Devil Survivor has the best Law route.

-Atlus should consider releasing the iOS/Android ports of SMT I, II, and if... on the Nintendo Switch, Steam, PS4, etc.

-SMT5 could have used more geographical variation. Hopefully, SMT5: Final will rectify what the previous got wrong.

-I bet Kazuma Kaneko and Cozy Okada would have field day if they decided to have a MegaTen game set in Louisiana...

-Speaking of SMT in general, even its weakest music is Dantalion's heads-and-shoulders above most lesser series' best OSTs.

-Nocturne and Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army still kick the ass of Final Fantasy X.

-Jack Frost should have been in SSB Ultimate.

-I prefer Kazuma Kaneko's hand-colored art over his digitally-colored illustrations.

  13. How to animate an '80s Anime Ship:

I personally like to call this the rotoscope method for obvious reasons.

      x=usr(1536)

OK, I gotta say: that's pretty impressive.  The camera motion is still a bit too fluid for me compared to hand-drawn, but the overall result is truly excellent.  It reminds me a bit of how Miyazaki realised he had to start working with CGI, and took the hybrid approach of also drawing by hand.

I'm glad that you liked what you saw, and OtaKing was also a member of the ConceptArt.org forums. Man, I miss that forum, and it's a shame that Jason Manley had to pull the plug. Trivia: Retro Studios' Sammy Hall was also a member of that, and when he did Sophia the Third from Blaster Master; I pointed out that it was Sunsoft that made the game when he put the Hudson Soft logo on its wheels.

  19. I know that there are people who were disappointed with SMT4 Apocalypse, but its final battle themes are awesome:

I hope Atlus learns from the mistakes they made during the production of SMT5 and Soul Hackers 2.

  20. Unpopular and controversial opinions, volume 13:

    -Desktop Internet > Smart Devices.

-As much as I love Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, it would be nice to hear the other songs in its OST get covered beside Beware the Forest's Mushrooms.

-If he was still alive today, Dr. Osamu Tezuka would never be allowed to work in any American animation studio.

-Matilda was the best film adaptation of a Roald Dahl book. However, I still prefer the source material.

-I think Theodore Sturgeon was on to something when he said, "90 Percent of everything is crap."

-Square Enix needs new upper management. Ditto for EA, Activision Blizzard, and UbiSoft.

-Spriggan Powered was actually good considering Micronics' poor track record.

    -Dragon Gun > CarnEvil.

-The last Simpsons episode that had me laughing was Ned 'n Edna Blend.

-Koiichi Sugiyama and his label should have offered songbooks for sale. (This was before he died.)

    As an added bonus:

I am no fan of Kotaku, nor do I have any sympathy for them.

Astral Projection + Trilithon = Awesome

  21. I'm back, but my computer is still stuck repairing disk errors. That is quite infuriating.

Cool video!  Sorry to hear about the cancer, I lost my father to cancer in 2014. FC!

    2. SlidellMan

      SlidellMan

I lost both of my granddads to cancer. The one on my dad's side was 83 when he got lung cancer, and the one on my mom's side was 78 when he got pancreatic cancer. Those were back in 2003 and 2015 respectively. To quote that one woman who was on Penn & Teller: Bullshit!: Cancer Sucks!

  23. Phelous and Allsion Pregler on the Street Fighter movie.

Man!  I need to go back and play some Twisted Metal as those were always a favorite of mine...Of course I disavow the PS3 version as the car won't control with the D-Pad so it doesn't exist to me except as a paperweight.

    3. SlidellMan

      SlidellMan

GoldLeader, as much as you hated that change to analog steering, it was inevitable. Of course, I played the N64 versions of Vigilante 8 and its sequel with the Analog Stick.

    4. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

They could have left the controls alone,...And had it control like Every other Twisted Metal Game.  At any rate N64 is different because you can still control the stick with your Right hand,  on PS 3 it's on the left...
