  1. Hello all, Sorry to be a slacker. Game of the month for June 2020 is Arcturus. I have only played it a couple of times to see if it is suitable for a month of playing. I see that pixelpedant has a nice thread about Arcturus/Zaxxon clones here. And a nice YouTube video by acadiel here. And a really good history lesson by Pixel here. ROM attached - requires 32k memory. Get your isometric perspective skills going and have fun! arcturus.bin
  2. Thank you so much for pointing out the manual. Though it I learned about Quintus Tormanus and his enabling of invading an innocent livable planet, Omega-47. It seems Earth was overcrowded so Quintus designed a weapon to destroy another race of unfriendly aliens. Use your Siliron (silicon-iron?) paddle to deflect nuclear fused plutonium balls and destroy energy blocks. Some require being hit more than one time. Some cannot be destroyed. Although according to Emilie du Chatele energy cannot be created nor destroyed, so maybe they are being transformed or transferred to another type of energy. There are six types of secret capsules that can give your Siliron extra capabilities or even escape the level early. You can't tell where they are hidden on the level until you hit them with your plutonium ball. You might meet Hyger and Cyger, aliens that show up during the level, if you survive long enough. In my experience, it was very difficult to clear even the first level. So you'll need a secret weapon (via CTRL-E) to enter the editor. The editor lets you edit the levels, which I didn't do very much of. But it also lets you SEE all of the levels and scroll between all 50 by using the "<" and ">" keys. you can also play each level with 6 Silirons. Doing this, you can finally find a level that provides secret capsules and might have Cyger and Hyger. It could be a fun exercise to make a few levels and save them to disk for sharing with others. I'd make the early levels much easier and drop a few more secrets. There you go. A $0.02 review.
  3. Wow! I am impressed regarding the manual. Had no idea there was an editor. And the search page is cool too. Thank you very much.
  4. I may have played that one once or twice. Very fun game and I love the tribute to Queen. May 2018 jwild (Break Free--35,365)

  6. I found Spot Shot by searching the messages. Here are both Spot Shot and Dragonflyer. I played one quick game of Spot Shot after several yesterday of Dragonflyer. They are "very similar". I can't tell just yet if playability is any different between the two. It is interesting in that the two file sizes are different. Download them both and see for yourself and let us know what you think. Good luck. SPOTSHOT32KB8.bin dragonflyer.bin

  8. Oh I see from searching.. it looks like SpotShot was renamed (or also known as) Dragonflyer. It is an interesting game. quite different.

  10. Anybody play this game? I decided I wanted to play a game tonight. I thought I would try the first game in the first directory (under “games”) on my FinalGROM. It was in the 32k folder. “Backsteine”. I gave it a couple of quick plays and thought it was way too hard. But instead of quitting, I gave it a few more plays. I was determined to at least clear the first level. It reminds me a bit of Arkanoid, but not too much. If you want a quick challenge, give it a try. After playing a bunch of time, I discovered that you can move the paddle forward and backward - not just side to side. I recommend moving it back so that you have a few milliseconds longer to react. Also it took me a few minutes to figure out how to start the game and select 1 player. Move the joystick to the left for one player, right for two players. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Tex Turbo and the Big Bug Battles – April 2020 Thank you to Marc Hull for creating this game! FarmerPotato 82500 Globeron 52500 Jwild 48800 Tursi 34500 Roadrunner 5400 Jblenkle 600 FarmerPotato, would you like to select a new game? Congratulations on that great score. Any tips for how you did it? I have a feeling you get a lot more points when you eliminate several bugs at one time. I was too busy concentrating to watch the score change. Your score seemed quite high for the level you were on, so I have a feeling you were racking up points by doing something special. Thank you to everyone for playing. Happy May!

  15. Fair enough. I’ll play around and if I break it, I’ll set it up again. That’s part of the fun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. I often use “sudo apt-get update” and “sudo apt-get upgrade” on other Linux systems to keep them up to date and minimize security risks. It is a good idea to do that on the TIPI? Or is it just adding unnecessary risk of breaking something? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. That was fast! I just updated my TIPI and tried again. Used both the root folder and a sub folder. Was able to create and edit a basic program and save it to TIPI from the web interface. I think you fixed it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. I think I'm getting the same thing with TIPI v1.51. Can edit a file, but once I hit save and exit, i get a screen full of error messages similar to above. Doesn't matter what directory i start in. I see that /// in the filename.
  20. I can’t say I use it very often, but I have been using the version on your website. I understand the desire to get rid of security risks, but please don’t let the concept die. And thanks for making these cool tools. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Okay, I've tried out a few games and have decided on the new game of the month. For April 2020 - in the spirit of the world's current challenge, I have selected a virus beating game called Tex Turbo and the Big Bug Battles (suggested by ti99iuc and created by marc.hull). I played it once and it is quite good. The link to the file is here. I found a link to the development thread for this game here: And I believe this must be Marc's site describing the game here.
  22. Thank you atrax. The lesson learned is TI99Dir is your friend. Appreciate the help. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Hi guys, I know this is a basic question and I should know this already. But I need help. I'm trying to pick a new game of the month. I'm trying to broaden my horizons and explore other games. I find that I'm not as good as I thought I was at playing games that need the Editor/Assembler cartridge. One I am considering is called "Virus Attack" (timely title). Go Here: http://tigameshelf.net/asm.htm search that page for the game and download the TIFILES format "vir-arc.bin" How do I run this file? I tried using Classic 99 with EA cartridge. I copied over the "vir-arc.bin" to my DSK2 directory for classic 99. then in EA, I use option 5 and give it the name "DSK2.VIRUS1" and i get I/O Error Code 7. If i try DSK2.VIR-ARC I get the same I/O Error Code 7. If I rename the vir-arc.bin file in Windows to vir-arc (removing the .bin) I get the same I/O Error code 7 when I try to run "DSK2.VIRUS1" error code 2 when I try to run "DSK2.VIR-ARC". Any help would be much appreciated.
  24. There really is a Burger Builder? wow. I am considering a few games. hope to pick one today. If anyone has an idea, please PM me.
