  1. Hm, and how should these companies have spread such patches in the pre-internet-era? Disks were copy protected, few users had harddrives. So not even mags with disks on their covers would have been of much help.
  2. Rampage would be great for me to play with my son - he likes it on the Lynx. But... when will they come to cart? All these games and Rampage... BTW Rampart would also be a good addition. Except Baldies the Jaguar really has no good strategy game. Hm, ok Battlesphere could be considered to be one to a certain degree...
  3. Any bits of news on Soul Star would be highly appreciated.
  4. How would the program detect this area as being "near a ladder"? I`d say CJ could rather work on and / or complete one of the other projects. I am happy with the game now, especially since I learned that the original is no better (I would have complained if it had saved to disk or featured level codes) and Piko and CJ took the opportunity to explain and to communicate with the scene. Piko should change their descriptions online to avoid confusion though. This game is a straight port. As that, it is great.
  5. The original on the ST didn´t have any save feature, too. So although it would have been nice, this current version is an authentic conversion. Not more, not less. This even goes for the jumping - and don´t forget that standard joysticks on 16 bit computers had only one button and this was used for kicking (of course the three punches could have been mapped to three buttons, but where would that stop?). Surely changes could have been made but I am pretty sure that some purists might nag about this. I think part of the fun is to have classic games on a classic console they weren´t written for. I´d like smaller additions, but I can also understand that others want to keep things as they are. And yes, there is no real need for a pause function since the screens are mainly static.
  6. Well, it is also ours, the customer's fault IMO. When I heard of Piko announcing a new release I ordered straight away to show them my support. Of course it is safer to wait for any reviews. But then again this would make things harder to predict for them. So... yes, this will make me more careful in the future. Then again I didn´t know that CJ was behind it. I would always consider him to be a huge benefit. I guess everybody involved will have learned from this. I hope PIKO will mail a revised ROM to customers. At least the file. I have attached a Jag pad to my Mac via USB so I could even play it on the train...
  7. Would it help to save highscores if I added an eeprom for ram saving? Xenon II does have the function.
  8. no they haven´t. But CJs hint on the cheat is good. By the way, I added a save rom to my Xenon Megablast II. What would happen if I did the same to this cart? Would it then save highscores? It works great with Xenon II
  9. Sorry people. I think my issues were already discussed.
  10. I received my copy of Switchblade for the Jaguar today. The game is OK once one got used to the handling and controls. But I have the feeling that the production was rushed? After a quick round of playing I found some issues. In the manual there is a line indicating a function of button A but there is none. This is not the biggest problem as there is really no use of button A. But the game crashed when I tried to enter a name in the highscore list. It simply froze. Or maybe it didn´t. But I wasnt able to move the cursor or enter anything or exit the screen. Strange. The Pause button does not work. This is also strange. I don´t remember if the original version had a pause function but really, if at least minimal changes can be made to justify a release of an almost 30 year old game then it is using the controller properly. And is there any save game function? Or does it work via codes? I am sure it is not expected that players play through the entire game in one go - or is it? Are there any cheat codes? I asked Piko by PM but maybe somebody here knows anything. Cheers Stefan The poster is low res 8-(( I have no problems spending money for a game if was properly done. I would spend 2 or 3 times as much for a good conversion of Turrican, Oids - even Wings of Death... but this just looks rushed or done with minimal interest. If I am unfair pls tell me. I appreciate Piko's effforts though. I just want to give hints on how to improve things.
  11. Are there any news regarding the production / release of Soul Star? Id order straight away if I could and I wouldnt argue about the price either.
  12. Umm, voted ages ago... just thought I might have missed something... thanks anyways
  13. What ever happened to Soul Star? Didn´t somebody say he has reverse engineered or completed a final version from the non-complete versions that are floating around?
  14. And here you can find the English language manual 21 3D Attack manual GiG Leonardo.PDF
  15. OMG it feels like a class reunion. Matt, I remember when we piled up stuffs just to save on shipping haha. I have asked Harvey and Al about a repro run. Harvey finds the cart shells could be a problem - maybe they could be 3D printed or something. Al didnt get back to me yet. And... "There's now no missing ROM dumps of any confirmed games." Yes, this is true, but only for the unconfirmed games.
  16. I should maybe explain the screenshots. One is my dumper and shows it running on Mac Mess. The other is my Mame cabinet. And control of any (!) Arcadia game is so much better with arcade hardware. I have a turnable 4/8-way joystick. If Crazy Gobbler wasn´t a bit slow, it would have ben the perfect PM conversion. If you compare Funky Fish, Astro Invader, The End and the likes to their arcade originals you can see how good the conversions were. Jump Bug is even better than the original.
  17. Hi, over at the Yahoo Arcadia 2001 site I uploaded a dump of 3D Attack for the Arcadia 2001. I am playing and collecting for the Arcadia since 1982 (yes, indeed!). I have a large collection and thanks to Harvey Kleine I was able to dump some rarities and protos over the years. This is one of them. I need to find a place where I can upload this. 18. My 6-year old son tried Star Wars with one of those 3DVD Gravis flightsticks that were produced in very limited numbers around 1997 and this also plays well. tried to upload a vid but somehow it doesnt work. Must try it on Skyhammer soon
  19. I am sure if former Atari-executives see this they are slamming their heads on their desk now. This could have made a significant difference back in the day. Then again, licences might have been more expensive than the ports themselves. Also the public expected new games, I remember that even Doom or Syndicate were welcomed not too enthusiastic since they were already known franchises. But still... this could have supported the base library of games just well.
  20. AA could set up a kickstarter campaing for funding. this may brush up your mood. or accept preorders. or set up a poll about which game to convert next. which would also be a good way to see the preferences of people. this way the whole things would become some kinda inspiring movement, as we are already talking about easter. this way your readers here could also do something and show their support
  21. Jesus... erm. something must really have pi... you off. rather think of all the people who would like to personally say thank you instead of any sad people
  22. Phew. good. cuz i wasnt aware of having done anything wrong. am one of those waiting for the availablibity of your work through AA and any info from Al.
  23. And if so, what in the world are you referring to?
