The Official Turbografx 16 Thread!
INTVCruise replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yeah it looks like the printing got damaged by something to me, it goes half way around the disc like that towards the left half. Looking at other copies on eBay I don't see any light circle marks above the 2 on the paint side, that's why I specifically asked the seller if it was scratched or just dirty.- 3,677 replies

The Official Turbografx 16 Thread!
INTVCruise replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hey guys on the subject of Cosmic Fantasy 2 I just bought a disc copy off of eBay, I asked the seller before hand about some white marks on the disc that looked like scratches to me. He said that they were just little pieces of lint but when I got the game today the white marks on the disc look like something that was left over by a resurfacing machine. I know some discs are textured on the top but these don't look like printed patterns that belong on the edge of the disc. Can anyone with a Cosmic Fantasy 2 disc confirm if those marks are on all copies or if this copy is damaged. The marks I'm talking about are these white splotches above the 2 in the top right corner of the disc. I circled them in blue in the second pic. Thanks for everyone's time.- 3,677 replies

Hello everyone, I have two 1541 drives, 1 is the old style with the pull tab in the middle that someone set to be "drive 9", the other the new tronics drive with the flip lever on the side. Originally the pull tab was running with red light always turned on and the lever one cannot find the disc at all, just gives a "file not found error". It attempts to search but not successful, when I first got it though I remember it seeking but the C64 screen hanging. Anyways I opened both up to attempt a chip swap to find the culprits. When taking the rom chip?(the top right chip closest to the power supply plug) from the flip lever drive and placing into the pull tab I got the pull tab drive to stop spinning constantly. However, after loading up a copy of maniac mansion it just gets to the crack screen. I press "space bar" to advance but the immediate result is "device not present error in 180". What does this mean exactly. Could the drive head be misaligned or something to that effect? I would have kept just swapping chips to see if I could get the flip lever drive to work maybe but most are soldered. I wouldn't mind de-soldering and installing sockets but I'd rather work on the easier drive to repair, just not sure which one that may be. Forgot to mention, the C64 works great with the other 1541's I have, just these two product the errors mentioned above. Any inside is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Hello everyone, I decided to list this on eBay. There was no sale data obviously for the cart so I listed it at a high buy it now but definitely willing to listen to reasonable offers. Here is a link for anyone interested. Multificha Atari 400/800 Spanish Utilities Cartridge, Tested, Make an Offer. | eBay
-
Hello everyone, I have this spanish utilities cartridge for sale, got this from mexico some time ago. Can't seem to find any information about it anywhere other than 1 website which lists the rarity as an R9. Other than that I have no idea about it. I did test it in my Atari 400 and it seems to work fine. The menu's are in spanish and you can navigate the menus. The cartridge sticker looks to be an original that was placed on top of some donor cartridge. I'm guessing whoever made this salvaged Atari 400 cartridges to house their creation as you can see a very faint glue outline under the multificha label. Open to any offer really, I have some Atari 400 stuff but not really big into collecting it.

Commodore 64 Breadbin Help - Bad Ram?
INTVCruise replied to INTVCruise's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
Thanks, I think I'm going to go ahead and order a spare pla from ebay. I know you can't put Sids form teh c64c into the breadbin model because of the different voltages, is that the case also with PLA's? Does it have to be a specific kind of one for a breadbin vs another model? -
Commodore 64 Breadbin Help - Bad Ram?
INTVCruise replied to INTVCruise's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
Hey guys, just got ahold of a dead test cartridge so I was able to test out the ram. I let it run for a few cycles, all tests came up okay except the sound test. There are no voices being played on the Sid chip and the filter test also produces no audio. None of the ram spots indicate a bad ram chip, so could this be a problem with the PLA then? Here is a screen shot of the dead test results. -

Commodore 64 Breadbin Help - Bad Ram?
INTVCruise replied to INTVCruise's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
Thanks for the info, I haven't tested the for parts board yet. I assume it must be either fully working or mostly working. Someone had installed a barrel power jack board and removed the old din connector power jack and also installed an av expansion board on it for audio video. I'm guessing they must have not had the time to finish it or something, but don't really have a way to test it since there is no power switch on it (nor do I know what kind of power source they were planning to use exactly, just that its a barrel jack now, but I suspect they wouldn't have gone through the trouble of modifying it if it was bad). I'll go ahead and pull out one of the ram chips and piggyback to the ram on the C64 board. Hopefully it all goes well, fingers crossed! -
Commodore 64 Breadbin Help - Bad Ram?
INTVCruise replied to INTVCruise's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
One final question, are the ram chips on an atari 800xl and the commodore 64 swappable? I just realized I had a socketed 800 board that I bought for parts and looking at the ram chips I think they might be a match/compatible? Again, thank you for your time. -
Commodore 64 Breadbin Help - Bad Ram?
INTVCruise replied to INTVCruise's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
Hey brother quick question, just flipped open the problem C64 again and saw that it looks like the chips are labeled, 4864, so those chips in the link cannot be used as a direct replacement or does it not matter? I have included a picture. Btw, the board is a 250407 Rev A. Thanks for your time. -
Hey guys, looking for a case and tape only copy of phaser patrol I have the big box with the manuals and supercharger inside, but no tape, so looking to complete my copy. Must be in working condition. I'll buy it outright, or do a trade if someone wants. Thank you!

Commodore 64 Breadbin Help - Bad Ram?
INTVCruise replied to INTVCruise's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
I agree, i think that should be the easiest and cheapest option as well. So if i put a good ram chip on top of another good ram chip while looking for the bad, theres no ill effect to either chip correct so long as they are the same kind of chip in the correct orientation? -
Commodore 64 Breadbin Help - Bad Ram?
INTVCruise replied to INTVCruise's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
I think i tried loading a small program like circus charlie and that failed to boot. Any disk image thats above 31k would cause it to crash right? So i would need to look for a small program, is there a program you recommend. I have a zoom floppy so i can burn anything to disk pretty much. -
Commodore 64 Breadbin Help - Bad Ram?
INTVCruise replied to INTVCruise's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
Thanks for everyones input. Ive got a while bunch of carts and disks that I can run through the machine to see whats up. So from what im understanding the pla can affect the ram number? Is it possible all the ram is potentially good, but the pla is causing the number to be lower? -
Commodore 64 Breadbin Help - Bad Ram?
INTVCruise replied to INTVCruise's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
Also forgot to mention something strange. When I insert a fast load cartridge, the ram available jumps from 31K and becomes the correct 39k amount. Not sure why or if that's just something that always happens? -
Hello everyone, just got a c64 in terrible shape. Broken case during shipment among other things. It does boot to a normal screen expect that the ram available only shows about 31k, instead of the close to 39k that should be available. Disk programs don't load correctly and cartridge games don't play either for the most part. Radar rat race seems to but Dig Dug just hangs. My question is if the problems that are occurring are due to a single bad ram chip perhaps? Or could there be more than just that one problem? I don't own a dead test cartridge and don't have any real way of knowing what chip is bad. Can someone recommend me a way to trouble shoot with having to buy a dead test or other cart. I have an easy flash 3 but it doesn't seem to want to boot. Also if it is indeed ram, can someone recommend me a place to buy a single or small lot of chips. Thanks everyone for their time!

Hello everyone, I received this cartridge in a lot of regular games, I booted it and it plays, looks like regular tennis to me with different sprites. Is this an older hack? Looks like it from a lone video on youtube. Also, is it worth anything more than the average repro cartridge otherwise I'll probably just hold onto it. Thank you all.

The Official NEO-GEO Thread!
INTVCruise replied to Charlie Cat's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hey Anthony, glad to be back too :). Yeah I would just inspect them myself in person but I'm actually having a family member pick them up for me since they are far away from me at the moment and they don't know how to open them + I don't think the seller can either he just seems to be selling them in a junk lot basically and doesn't know a ton about them I think. I'm thinkin that they are most likely legit by the labels too but just wanted to be sure. Do you think that other second squad in the white shell is legit too? Label looks okay, but I've not seen one myself in a white shell. Yes my set up is okay at the moment haha, only have magician lord and baseball stars always on the look out for some decent ones tho haha.
