  1. This thread is soulless. I really don't understand how someone can be a classic gaming enthusiast while having such disdain for certain consoles. That's just close-minded BS.

    Chris

Agreed. While there are systems that I am not all that jazzed up about owning or playing (mostly due to them just not having that warm, fuzzy, nostalgic feeling), this idea is ridiculous.

Consoles by Sony and Microsoft are soulless because they were made by mega-corporations. But consoles made by Nintendo have souls, because Nintendo is not a mega-corporation. Huh? Last time I checked, Nintendo was still doing pretty well for themselves.

I guess I can understand seemingly everyone getting all gooey over Sega. Especially, the cute and cuddley Dreamcast. The little system that couldn't survive the terrible onslaught from the hell demons Sony and Microsoft. Ugh, it's called business, get over it.

It's like me with Planters Cheez Balls. I used to enjoy them, but they are no longer in production.

    DAMN YOU, CHEETOS! DAMN YOU!

  2. I'm thinking about it. I may pick it up as a birthday present to myself.

But, I may cheap out. I rarely pay full price for games these days. Usually, I'll wait for a price drop. I have such a backlog of games to play that it doesn't make sense for me to pay full price when I won't even play it for a year.

But I do love westerns, dammit! And this one looks pretty great.

    Maybe I'll flip a coin...

  3. Yeah, and good luck playing online.

The retro style graphics version in the online multiplayer has some annoying lag. The updated graphics version seems fine.

There is also a lot of quitting. It seems that there is no online record keeping of any kind. So, no penalty for dropping out of a game.

I love Tecmo Bowl, but I kind of wish I had passed on this. Impulse shopping gets me again!

  4. I'm looking to sell mine. I just don't use it enough. I've had it for some time and have only used it once.

    It does work!

I'm including everything in the photo. The PowerPak, manual, slipcase, 128mb card & USB card reader. You may need to update the mappers from the RetroZone site. I'm not sure.

These are sold for $135, direct from RetroZone.

Make me your best offer via PM and I'll let you know. And be kind, I'm trying to do something nice for my wife!

My eBay username is zombiecraig, if you want to check up on me.

    Thank you!

  5. My brother is interested in going to the MGC this year, which will give me a nice excuse to go. I haven't been since 2002.

I think a one day ticket is $20, while advance tickets for both days are only $25. But, if we stay both days, we'll have to get a room.

Look, I'm a cheap bastard. Can anyone give me the reasons why I would need to pony up for a hotel room and stay both days? Or is one day enough if you're thrifty, like me?

    I'm looking for an excuse...

  6. Yes! Thanks for posting these. I've been holding off on Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, as well. I almost bought it a few days ago for $40. Now I was able to get that and Bionic Commando for less than $40!

    You made my day!

Bionic Commando probably sucks, but for $10, I'm not going to fret about it much.

And yes, it looks like downloadable content for MUA2 is gone from Live, as well.

  7. Anyone know a source for good NES game hacks and translated games? I'm finally getting around to trying out my PowerPak and would love to try out some good ones.

Anyone have any suggestions for specific games that are worth tracking down?

  8. SNES: I recall buying this in high school in the middle of the night at a 24 hour Wal-Mart after doing whatever high school kids do late at night in a small town.

PlayStation: Bought this at Toys R Us, getting back into console gaming after years of focusing primarily on the PC.

N64: Bought the Star Wars: Episode I - Racer set at Target. Got this console primarily to play some of the wrestling games that had and were being released.

Game Boy Advance: Pre-ordered some sort of package deal from EBGames.

PS2: Pre-ordered at launch from EBGames. Ended up getting it right before the holidays.

Dreamcast: Purchased from Babbages during/after it's decline.

GameCube: Used a birthday giftcard to get this from Circuit City. I recall that I had to get the Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee game and the recently released Eternal Darkness.

Xbox: Got this from Best Buy, after thinking that I would never be interested in getting it.

Game Boy Advance SP: I really have no idea where I got this. Best Buy?

Xbox 360: Wasn't sure if I wanted it, but finally gave in after about a year after launch. I really wanted Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Dead Rising.

Game Boy Advance SP backlit version: Bought this one at Best Buy, but I think the control pad is glitchy and not very well made.

Nintendo DS: Bought this at Best Buy. Have since sold it because I didn't care for the touch-screen gimmick and rarely play portable systems.

Wii: Was looking for this for a while and finally ordered a damn bundle deal from Wal-Mart.com. Have since sold it, as it didn't live up to the hype for me.

PS3: Bought this at Target after hearing that they were going to discontinue backwards compatibility being built-in.

  9. Stopped by today, just to check. There was an endcap with a few games and a sign advertising the $10 price drop ($60=$50,$50=$40). They did not go through and re-label each individual price label in the cases, or anything, but the sign was there.

  10. Thanks for the advice, everyone. I really appreciate it.

I still haven't decided what I would like to do. I think that I will hound Microsoft over the phone a few times, like Chickybaby suggested. Other than that, I don't think I'll rush right into it.

I do want another 360 and I'm thinking about upgrading to an Elite, and selling this one for parts/repair, like moycon and a few others suggested. But, I'm too damn busy right now to be in any hurry. I think that I'll let things ride until after the holidays and see how things pan out.

This is the first console that I've purchased that has ever gone bad, and I have quite a few. So...not too bad, if you look at it that way. Gee thanks, Microsoft.
