  1. It's just that designing the chipset from the ground up so that ANTIC selects some modes and the CPU selects others seems unlikely.
  2. I've always assumed ANTIC/CTIA then GTIA because the display list doesn't support it.
  3. Nice one TMR! You could even bite the bullet and use many display lists.
  4. The fifth player gets its colour from the playfield.
  5. No, unfortunately. The great unknown is ORing.
  6. (I don't want things to get more bogged down.)
  7. It's a good idea to convert source pictures to 2bpp first to avoid banding.
  8. Something like Sonic 3D might be surprisingly straightforward.
  9. It might be useful to be able to lock the converter to the nearest Atari colours when the source picture contains fewer than 128.
  10. @emkay Are you using Floyd-Steinberg?
  11. The computer only has a certain number of paint pots (palette registers). If it puts blue in the red pot it won't be able to show red until it changes it again. Say you have a picture which is half black, quarter red and quarter blue. If you merge the colours into two registers they may end up containing black and purple.
