  1. When I was actively collecting every Jaguar game back in 2015-2018 it was great fun and I eventually got a Battlesphere Gold in the UK from a guy who lived 40 miles away from me - it was listed on eBay with the pictures attached for £500 and was an auction rather than buy it now. I bought it for £559 which meant buyer owed eBay quite a lot of money in terms of fees and what would have been PayPal but In the end I went to his house and it was identical to the pictures so we started a no-sale on eBay and he took £520 cash for it. We had a great chat about videogames and how he’d come to own it - were some of these sold for charity at very random times so I think he had paid £500 for it ($750 at time) but was pleased to get his money back and not have the hassle of dealing with someone claiming the box was damaged or an empty package arriving. I do look back and think it was crazy what I paid for this when most of my other games (nearly all new and sealed) were £20 for Attack of the Mutant Penguins sealed £30 for likes of sealed Doom Wolfenstein etc up to £90 for sealed AVP and about £150 for sealed Atari Karts but I just had to have one - I do still question myself for spending so much on a niche game for a niche console but when collecting stuff you do get swept up into needing everything. If I was the person selling their BSG I would be more inclined to do a sale on here rather than eBay as I sold dozens of Jaguar games on there when building my collection to gradually buy more sealed ones but did get stung with a sale of a Telegames title to USA as buyer after two months of ownership said I think this is fake but eBay dismissed claim and so did PayPal but they then did a credit card chargeback and credit card firm always side with their customers so they got a full refund and got to keep the game. That pretty much brought my eBay selling to a stop when I realised how easy you can be ripped off - and I supplied actual invoice from Telegames in my claim and all my photos and details about how Telegames boxes look poor quality but I still lost - to counter claim on a chargeback was something like $200 and it looked impossible to win - that game sold for £150 at the time. So a word to the wise - cash is king, local sale - you can lose out on eBay very badly, such things as sell a sealed valuable game, they claim something wrong with it and send you back an opened one and they will say ‘well I had to open it, what’s the problem’ when you assumed you were maybe selling to a sealed games collector. Sell a excellent condition boxed game they claim it’s damaged and send you back their damaged and squished game and box and keep yours mint one. And there is literally nothing you can do about it. With regards the BSG game that may be selling, eBay seems great and it will sell for a higher price but you are better taking less money and knowing your buyer is reputable or better still local with cash. I lost £150 on my eBay sale and was so mad I still have the persons address for next time in USA and for six months was going to visit them and ask for my game back next time I was over in Florida - then I remember you Americans have guns and decided maybe move on… And that was only over £150 ($180) so I can’t imagine how annoying it would be to lose the value of a BSG to someone.
  2. Shack news have a new interview with Jeff Minter where he discusses coding for the Jaguar and why one of Atari’s old games Akka Arrh was never released - could someone add the link please as the interview is on YouTube and I can’t add the link for some reason…
  3. Just spotted the trailer for 3D ZYX on YouTube… A new Wave1 game for Jaguar… Opinions?… YouTube search 3D ZYX - could someone add direct link please…
  4. All of mine are in cardboard boxes same as normal Jaguar games - there is no way I would buy any if they were in DVD boxes. Every one I own from Baldies, Myst, Hoverstrike,, BattleMorph, Highlander and Dragons lair were all supplied in proper cardboard boxes a bit bigger in size than the Jag Cart boxes...I see people selling pirated Jag CD games on ebay (usually the ones that never had proper releases) in DVD boxes and think they look awful... I have seen Iron Soldier 2 in DVD boxes but Telegames in UK still sells them in proper cardboard box... I would 100% never buy any CD games in a DVD box as they just look like cheap pirated copies without the actual cardboard box. Okay some games like Braindead 13 or Primal Rage you might only get in a CD jewel case as original owner might have thrown the box away but any retail release in a DVD case just looks like a cheap pirated copy bought off ebay I really dislike CD games in non card boxes - Blue Lightning and Vid Grid look great in the big boxes too that someone had made up for them a few years ago but those were never released in big boxes so I'm grateful to the person who made those boxes. Seems a shame if some games are being sold in DVD boxes for full price - I would just assume they were cheap pirated copies and would assume they would have a very low resale value if you ever decided to sell them if any value at all.
  5. I bet Peter at telegames would do an interview about his company - sales@telegames.co.uk - if i remember right
  6. There's the Atari 2600 one too https://www.pricecharting.com/console/atari-2600 We think BSG is overpriced - Look at Air Raid!!! Eek!!!
  7. I found this website the other day and was fascinated by it https://www.pricecharting.com/console/jaguar It gives the prices for every Jaguar game sold on ebay over the past few years and make an amazing read if you pick out games at random and look at their sales chart for loose carts up to new/sealed - it gives you a chart for a decade worth of sales which I found to be a really interesting read (yes I am that boring before anyone says it!!) But in all honesty I spent over an hour looking at the data for the games and found it fascinating to look at how some games have become popular. The telegames titles are hard to assess as the newer Limited Edition ones can still be bought cheap so the Telegames titles can be a bit hard to work out but there's loads of stuff to read - an original factory sealed Air Cars selling for $1100 this year - the full sales chart for Battlesphere and what they've sold for. The one I really found interesting was 'Attack of the Mutant Penguins' and why has that become so popular as about 5 years ago every time I bought a game from Peter at Telegames I'd get him to pop in an extra cheap game to my order as postage was little different so would often just add another 'Attack of the Mutant Penguins' to my order because it was £15 - it was the cheapest game he sold except for Baldies on CD so I'd often just add a copy of that to my order - hence why I have six sealed copies of that game in my collection... So why is that game now (according to all the sales data) so popular when that game was for years the cheapest and least desirable game that Telegames sold... I can see Doom, Wolfenstein, Raiden, Defender 2000 and Missile Command 2000 all selling well and values rising especially for new boxed copies of them but why is Attack of the Mutant Penguins in there with them in terms of price when it was always the lowest priced game you could buy (lower then even Chequered Flag) If people have nothing better to do I'd love them to go take a look at the website and see what interests them in terms of games they have or have bought and just see what other people think - you can click on loose games, boxed games, new games and will give you list of prices sold for and if you click on the graph on where it says loose new etc it will add extra to the graph as I think the graph is preset for loose. I understand the prices for Atari Karts, AVP - I see why people want Doom, Wolfenstein, Raiden, Defender 2000 and Missile Command 2000, but why Attack of the Mutant Penguins? Just be interesting to hear what people take from the website and its numerous charts - Chequered Flag seems as unpopular as ever!!!
  8. I agree totally with you trying not to use ebay as they just increase a selllers fees and thus the price you pay. I list and sell some items like my sons videogames when he no longer plays them on PS4 or what ever else is no longer being used in the house and I only ever list when they give me 70% or 80% off my fees so it does not work out too badly then but many people are listing and losing 13% per tranasaction once all fees are added thus they have to add that to their price - I think that's why many private sellers (not business sellers) are happy to sell via paypal direct if you send them a message - I've even had people reduce the price they want if you send via paypal.
  9. Makes me glad I got so many games from USA and Europe before all this VAT nonsense came in. I haven't bought any since all this added VAT and Customs charges came in. I did in the olden days get caught out with VAT and Customs fees once or twice as parcels coming into the UK seemed to be checked at random however I realised that if you asked the seller to pop the value of the items at about $5 or $10 they would be exempt and come through to my house with no fees - can't remember if it was things under $36 were exempt and that figure included postage. I was on ebay the other day looking to buy a Marvel character figure from USA from a non business person just selling his items second hand and even that flashed up as needing VAT added so we did the deal via him sending me a Paypal invoice and him agreeing to ship with a price of $5... I understand a proper business like Albert's can't do that but individual private sellers who are selling their second hand items are sometime quite happy just to send a paypal invoice as it saves them on fees or if feedback is high and they are honest (many sellers are) they'll just let you pay via paypal and they'll post the goods on via signed for - it is refreshing how many people on ebay are actually very honest as all you often read about are the scam merchants. I usually judge it on if they have over 500 feedback and nearly all are positive then they are trustworthy for me to pay them via paypal and as long as they send the item signed for then that is great for me - okay maybe if I was paying high prices for something I maybe wouldn't do it but for things in the $20 to $70 range it has always worked out well... Maybe I've just been lucky with the people I've dealt with.
  10. Been a way for a little while and just reading the thread about people selling pirated games and the ST Ports (some) turning up on CD on Ebay and just wondered if there were any plans for anymore ST Ports. I like a few others on here bought every ST Port that was made when they were done on cartridge and thought they were amazing. The fact they came with boxes, manuals, labels all of the highest quality meant for the money they were great value. The team behind them Gaztee and Co did an amazing job on those games and sold them for what I considered to be a very fair price for the quality of the boxes etc. Just wondered if there was any news on any more being made as I've been off here for a little while.
  11. Telegames will never run out of stock of IS2 because if they run low they will just run some more off - it's easy money for them at £90 a time - the Limited Edition one has been around for ages and I made the mistake of buying it years ago thinking it was something different to the normal one which it wasn't... Ended up popping it on ebay and got about £160 for it when it went to Europe or USA (can't remember which)... I guess lots of people never realised Telegames UK still had them in stock and most people assumed the only place to get the likes of the old Telegames Jaguar games was ebay... I hate to admit it but after that one sold it made me realise that there was a market for Telegames titles on ebay and I bought more copies of IS2 Limited Edition along with Breakout 2000, Towers 2 all Limited addition and popped them all on ebay and always ended up making at least £50 on every sale - Zero5, Worms, Soccer Kid always made a good profit too... I did notice recently the price between Telegames direct Limited Edition titles from their shop and Ebay is pretty even now as there is a guy selling them on there at £99 each and he seems to sell a few of Soccer Kid and Worms too all at the same price... These are all (in the case of the telegames titles) the Limited Edition boxes so I suspect some of the older more original boxed ones may sell for a little more when they pop up on ebay but now a days don't overpay for those limited edition ones - they are far from limited edition and worth less than the original ones - even with the weird stickers and poor box art... Always check Telegames Uk or Songbird or on here for those old titles before buying on ebay.
  12. I have about 130 sealed Jag games - doubles triples etc - kind of figured with Telegames selling sealed games at £15-£30 each there was a good chance that I'd have a great collection and be able to make money on them, lots of times I'd buy 4 sealed games, sell 2 on ebay and with the profits from the sale of 2 games I'd basically get 2 sealed games free... Did that for a good few years and built up a great collection for next to nothing... Have noticed lately loose carts and open boxed ones are going for less money but sealed still to command a high price... Started collecting sealed N64 titles too and got about 15 until I am now priced out of the market - Pokemon Snap sealed would be £100, and all my other titles like Mario Tennis were under £200, now even the easiest to find sealed games like Tetrisphere are being listed for £350 buy it now with never a bidder... If you are going to collect you collect mint/sealed - zero point collecting open games when people have access to the games via SD cards - that was just a decision I made about 5 years ago and looking at ebay prices it seems the correct decision so far... Who knows in the future, but when the baseball collecting fraternity are also buying into video games these days (was it a mint nes Mario Bros sold for over a million) I'd say retro video games aren't going anywhere but up in price... Atari are an odd one though - Nintendo and Sega are hugely collectible where Atari is still a bit of a niche market which I find odd as you'd expect one the first companies to market to be more collected which it is not.
  13. I kind of thought flash carts / SD card readers would drop price of Jaguar games so I sold all my loose / open box ones and bought sealed ones with the money and bought a lot of sealed ones off Telegames too when games like Attack of the Mutant Penguins was £20 - this was a decision I made about 5 years ago
  14. I had looked for a box protector for Jag CD for ages and tried all the usual video game console box protector people but they did nothing for Jag CD and had nothing that would fit from their other items like Sega Saturn etc... Oddly enough that company I got the boxes from were based about five miles from where I lived so I was able to go round with the Jag CD and see what they had that might fit - those boxes were the best option we could find among all their stock and they had loads of different size protector boxes... I also took my boxed 1980s Tomy Tron light cycles and found great boxes for them as well as my old boxed Tron electronic games from the 1980s too. The small warehouse was amazing and full of shelves stacked with masses of every size of flat packed Funko box protectors. It did seem like certain Funko pops that were released (double/triple boxes) were in odd sizes sometime and these guys stored boxes for even the one off size releases which meant they were left with a bit of surplus stock once a Funko had ran its course in terms of sales and that was the case with the boxes I got for the Jaguar CD which were ones they were selling off cheap. I did ask the companies who do protector boxes for video games consoles if they would do a Jag CD box but they said there would not be enough demand to stock them so it was not worth their while as they needed to buy a set number of a boxes from the suppliers in China for each size they wanted and they would not make their money back on Jag CD console boxes.
