Flashback portable paddles?
Coolcrab replied to Coolcrab's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I grew up with a PC and breakout so I can live with a mouse. But I do agree that paddles are much better. And that's coming from somehow who touched one for the first time in his life last year -

This is cool! Should push him over the edge of the price now. -
Flashback portable paddles?

Ah ok! I bought one for homebrews testing but paddle games with dpad sounds horrible. Perhaps you could do something like the game boy volume wheel as a paddle? -
Modify built in games

https://fccid.io/2AMTQ3620ATARI/Internal-Photos/Internal-Photos-3588645 Looks like the flashback 8 has the same usb port, so you can probably use the exact same method/software. Would be cool to see someone confirm -
A wiki can do it all by adding category tags. (Like real.wikipedia has in the bottom) so you could put homebrew, paddle, multiplayer, etc It's also easy to mod as all edits are saved and can be reversed

Best wishes and I'm sorry to hear! Hope you have some good books and that you get well soon.

I'm looking into getting a flashback portable. I assumed that it didn't support paddles, but I noticed that it does have kaboom built in. Am I missing something? (I googled but nothing)
-
Hope you make it! Maybe people could borrow you some cash? I could but I'd need it back at some point. Not the whole thing though.
-
Ok so you think it's the hardware? Any clue why it does that and how to fix? I have a 2nd set of paddles. I'll try them tomorrow. Also here is a gif that shows the effect. I did not touch the paddle during this recording.

I recently got trim: deadly disks and it plays amazingly. The only thing that it really misses imo is a multiplayer mode. I think that I should be able to make a MP arena game like this. But before I start on that I wanted to know if something like this already exists. Does anybody know?

I just played it on my supercharger (and got to lvl 40.) One thing that I noticed is that beam is very jerky when in paddle mode. Is this a known problem or could it be my paddles? I added the supercharger wave for those who want to try it that way. a.wav

Good to see that we already have sites that keep track.of homebrews. I think that combining the spreadsheet with the wiki would work best. And we should put it on AA

When I move to the right and press fire, the racket shows up on the left. (As opposed to on the right) so there is a backhand just very inconveniently placed
-
This is cool! Donyou have a manual though? I don't get how to do a backhand. But it seems possible. I love how the ball.scales when it's far and close and the guys animation. Nice work!
-
Can you make it with what you got now? I have now idea how your home situation is or how spread payments in the US work so forgive me if its a stupid question. But I do hope that you make it before the operation!

Once again you saved the day I think that its good now. I can get past level 20. And stuff seems to work. So unless there are more bugs, this is it Rom in main thread

[Beta] Astronomer | a new homebrew for joystick and paddle
Coolcrab replied to Coolcrab's topic in Atari 2600
There was a nasty error in the last version and for some reason I can't edit the last post. So here is a properly working version. (I hope) astronomerV0.91.bin -
I solved most problems but one error that refuses to go away is that a star can move off screen on the top when it starts too high. This is very strange because I have a stop at y=2. (see line 2) Other then that I made it more playable and scaled the difficulty a bit more. My sister got to level 19 on her first try if player0y > 95 then gosub __Star_Left_room : goto __Back_to_Main_Loop if player0y < 2 then player0y = 2 : goto __Skip_Move if player0x < 25 && player0y > 1 then player0y = player0y - 2 : goto __Skip_Move if player0x < 50 && player0y > 1 then player0y = player0y - 1 : goto __Skip_Move if player0x < 80 then goto __Skip_Move if player0x < 130 then player0y = player0y + 1 : goto __Skip_Move if player0x < 160 then player0y = player0y + 2 else gosub __Star_Left_room : goto __Back_to_Main_Loop rem Add small punishment if player loses star on the right __Skip_Move astronomerv0.91.bas

[Beta] Astronomer | a new homebrew for joystick and paddle
Coolcrab replied to Coolcrab's topic in Atari 2600
New version available with help from RT. Everything is much smoother and most glitches are gone. Pause function got removed due to space limitations and there is now a difficulty setting for the right switch. (+100 time if you set it to A) This is the almost complete version. Not because I think its perfect, but because of the 4K almost being out. Feedback welcome! astronomerv0.9.bas.bin
