  1. Thanks for the link. What a great looking game! Too bad the development was cancelled.
  2. Well hello AtariAge Forums! For those who care: I used to be a regular visitor to this site about two years ago, and somewhere along the line I lost interest in homebrewing 2600 games, so I stopped coming here. I do still have my 2600, and I've gotten somewhat involved in GBA development. I'm a computer science minor in college, since programming is still a small passion of mine. Anyway, when I was here last, there was a game under development that seemed to have a lot of potential, and I can't find it now. The screen was red and black, and the gameplay seemed to be something like a 2-player shooting game. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I'd really like to see how it turned out. Thanks!
  3. Yay! It's always good to have news for Macs. -J
  4. Might want to get that typo fixed... -J
  5. I still strongly believe this is fake. But I'll play along anyways. Can you post a screenshot of the gameplay? And no, I don't mean connecting your computer up to the TV and taking a picture. This is getting fun... -J
  6. I'm still not convinced, sorry. -J
  7. I've been doing this for a little over a month. Thanks for the help! -J
  8. Awesome thankyou! It scrolls beautifully. Just so I know what is going on, can someone please explain what clc and adc do? -J
  9. I got frustrated and left Atari programming for a few weeks, but today I was bored so I re-coded my scrolling program. Unfortunately it still does not work. Here are the guts of my program: ;192 lines of picture ldx #0 stx Scanline inc Scroll sta WSYNC Pic inc Scanline ldx Scanline ldy Scroll,x lda PFData0,y sta PF0 lda PFData1,y sta PF1 lda PFData2,y sta PF2 ldx #0 stx Skip8 Block sta WSYNC inc Skip8 ldx Skip8 cpx #10 bne Block ldx Scanline cpx #19 bne Pic ;End lines of picture Or you can download the whole thing here. From what I can see it should work. Scroll and Scanline are both increasing the way they should be. Scroll increases once every frame, Scanline increases once every 10 scanlines. But for some reason when they are added together, you get 0. Can anyone pleeeeeease tell me why it doesn't work? -J
  10. I think the net works well, looks more like tennis that way. Oh and I like the black and white version better. Sweet game! -J
  11. Has anyone ever seen this controller before? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW -J

    2600 Power Cord

    Yeah it's the 3.5mm. Just so everyone knows, I got my Atari up and running with the 300mA adapter. :D -J

    2600 Power Cord

    The 300mA was a lot cheaper than the 500mA, so I'll just keep that since I won't be using a supercharger or anything like that. But you said I needed a 3.5 mm adapter, does that mean that my 2.5 mm won't work? -J

    2600 Power Cord

    (continued from post above) Here's the link to the stuff I got: Power adapter Adaptaplug Will those work for my Atari 2600? -J

    2600 Power Cord

    I got a power adapter today from Radio Shack, but I want to make sure it's the right one: Please let me know if I got the wrong one so I can go return it! Thanks! -J

    Hex -> Bin

    I'm running on Mac OSX, and to assemble code I use Dasm and macro.h and vcs.h. It took me about a week to get the darn thing working, so contact me if you have trouble and I'll help you out. As for disassembling code, I use the Mac version of Distella and the file above^ from nukey. Some trickery was necessary to get that up and running, too. To emulate I use Stella 1.2. Is that what you were asking? -J Btw I managed to change some of the sprites in Pitfall. So far, the scorpion is the robot from Berzerk, the logs are PacMan, and the gators are mutated ducks (they don't fit in very well, but they look funny ). If you guys have ideas for any of the other sprites, let me know, because I'm running out of ideas. K I'm done with this hack and I want to try and make my own game now. Here's a screenshot of what I produced in my long hard hour of hacking Pitfall:

    Hex -> Bin

    Worked like a charm. Thank you! -J
  18. I finally got a disassembler working on my Mac and decided I wanted to hack Pitfall by changing some sprites and stuff. The thing that sucks is that when I disassemble it, all the sprites are in hex. Does anyone know of a site or some software that can convert a bunch of .byte's into binary? Thanks! -J
  19. Is that a mode in the game, or did you have a different cart? I can't figure out how to switch over to two-player mode. Very odd idea for a two-player game, though. -J
  20. This is what it says in the 2600 section on this site: That's pretty cool if that's a version of the 2600 that is "not for resale." I bet it's somewhat rare. -J
  21. Yeah mine does the same thing. When I double click Dasm, it opens Dos but doesn't actually run. So to assemble something, I open a new window in Dos and use the cd command to get to the directory I want, then invoke (or whatever the word is) Dasm to assemble the file. Unfortunately, Dasm doesn't just open in it's own Dos window when you double-click it. -J
  22. From what I have read about programming it seems like it is sending either too few or too many scanlines at certain times, causing it to roll. Doesn't z26 have a scanline output so you can see if it changes at all? And if this is wrong, please correct me, I am a noob to all this programming stuff. That's pretty much right. Sometimes you do more "stuff" in one frame than in another frame, and if you accidently do too much in 1 frame, the screen would probably screw up and do something like roll. I'm a n00b too, but this is just the impression I've gotten over the past month. -J

    2600 Power Cord

    Hehe, oops. I forgot the basics of electric circuits, thanks for clearin that up. -J
  24. This is obviously a joke. I really doubt that anyone would throw their carts on the floor and take a picture of them without clearly showing the labels or listing the games, then post a new thread asking if it is ok to play any of them, and consequently he has one of the top most rare games ever made for the 2600. Either he has the game and did this for amusement, found the picture online and re-uploaded it, or is really good with photoshop. -J
