What do people think about someone selling Reproduction M.U.L.E., BASIC XE, BASIC XL and Action (and other) Atari Cartridges on eBay?
-
Not to mention the picture on his web site still shows the board with the part populated.

I assume VOM = Volt Ohm Meter

How does PicoDOS do it? I don’t care what it calls it behind the scenes, I’d just like to see more than 11 characters of the name. Even allowing 20 characters plus the extension would be a huge improvement.

I just squished the wires under the plastic cage. Just sayin', the cost to increase the length of the harness by 3 inches is nil.
-
Oh, and I GOT MINE WORKING! I just put a switch on the bottom. Haven't tried to confirm it works yet. It would have been nice if the wiring harness provided by Lotharek had been long enough to actually reach the plug on the incognito board. The two outside wires need to be about 3-4 inches longer.

So. Does SDX still not support long filenames? How can we possibly fill up a harddrive with files that are limited to 8.4? (I know, DOS did it for a long time, but this isn't the 20th century anymore.) I read one thread where it said SDX wouldn't run in 64k if it supported long filenames. Who uses 64k anymore? what is everyone doing to work with this limitation? Thank you.

You didn't 3-d print the enclosure?
-
Would you be willing to post a simple wiring diagram for your circuit including which pin on the incognito each wire goes to? thank you.

So. Once I get this thing back together and attach a keyboard, how do you get to the bios screen? is there like a users manual for using incognito? thanks.

I haven’t tried this on other 800’s. I did notice it when I undid the install. It would black out when it was at memo pad. it could just be a bad connection with this one. I’ll keep playing with it. if anyone has one open on the bench and wants to try it let me know. also, keep in mind, the power board doesn’t sit flat when it’s open like this, so I could also be stressing the pins in the connector between the power board and the motherboard. I’m just glad that my soldering seems to have worked. I’m not the best solderer, but it’s not like I’ve never done it. This isn’t a very complicated install, so I was hoping I didn’t mess this up. thanks again for the great support of this community! Todd

You are exactly right. I can make it fail by pressing hard. I was thinking you couldn’t press to hard. Clearly you can. I’m so happy. Thank you again!!!

Okay. Thanks. I tried it again. I did 2 things differently. I moved it off my anti static mat, which kind of conducts electricity and I didn’t push the interlock switch so hard. so now, it does the Atari fart twice and boots to Sparta dos. if I push the interlock harder it goes black. Maybe I’m flexing the power board. okay. I think I might be in business and can work on the drive switch another day when I have more time. thanks again!

Well. I've apparently done something wrong. When I try to boot with Incognito in, it mostly shows a black screen. One time, I got the Atari blue and then the flash of what looked like the color of the incognito BIOS and then it went black. When I remove the incognito, put the 74ls42 chip back in, unhook the P5 connector, put a ROM board and a RAM board in, I can get it to boot to memo pad, but sometimes, (especially if I wiggle the interlock switch), it will black out and sometimes it comes back and other times, it doesn't. I've lost the will to trouble shoot further for now. And before I do, I was hopoing someone could answer some questions that will make it easier. Q1: Do the two jumper wires and the replacement of the resistors have any impact on the operation if you go back to stock components? In other words, to completely undo incognito, do you have to remove those jumpers and replace the resistors back? Q2: If you do not do that, what does (or doesn't) the computer do? Q3: If you put an incognito in a stock 800 with the ribbon cable connected in place of the 74ls42 chip but no jumpers, no resistor swaps and nothing connected to P5, what happens? I have other 800's but answers to these questions will (i hope) make trouble-shooting easier. Thank you, everyone! -Todd

I’m not sure I’m following you. jons video says to connect to pin 9 and 15. also, I did count from the bottom left as pin 1. Your description makes it sound like pin 1 is on the lower right (at The edge of the card). sorry, this has always been confusing to me. Pin out diagrams always seem counterintuitive and I always get them wrong.
-
Okay. I have some questions. on the incognito, plug 5. Pin 1 is the one with the square around it, correct? my cpu board looks different than the one in the video. My Antic chip appears to be on the left edge. when you are looking at the socket the antic chip plugs into, are pins 1-20 on the left or right. Or, here is a picture. Where are pins 9 and 15? I assumed the notch was on the bottom. And I asssumed the diagram on Wikipedia was relative to the socket looking down on the chip from above as it was placed and I soldered to the pins in this picture and when I turn my 800 on, the screen goes black and the power leds just barely light. (I am pressing the interlock switch.) did I do this backward? I used black as pin 1 and green and pin 6 on p5

I bought this at Microcenter. I'm going to try to find a place to mount it so that the metal part sticks out a vent or something.

It’s funny that you’re calling a spartados from 2012 old.

For mine, I'm going to put the swap button on the bottom of the case, right next to the toggle switch (I added back in the day that I am also going to add to this 800) to turn off the keyboard speaker. When i was looking at my 800s to pick which one to use, I noticed one of mine had an RF cable jack sticking out of the case. Haven't opened it up yet to see what is behind that. I mean, I'm sure it is an adapter to allow cable to be connected directly to it, but it will be interesting to see how they did it. That computer is so huge, thy might have just put the RF switch box in there.

Great about MAME, but I watched 30 seconds of that video and couldn't take that guy anymore.

I also have an anti static mat that I bought like 25 years ago.

okay I think I’ve picked the 800 I want to install this in. before starting, are there things I should check? I booted a dos disk and also booted to basic and printed the free memory. anything else I should check? thanks.
