The Rare collection is a day one buy for me. Cobra Triangle and the two RC Pro Am games are worth 30$ alone in my opinion. I would consider the pro controller for my son at a 100$ price, but 150 is too steep for me.

Supposedly preview members can stream xb1 games to windows 10 machines now too. I tried yesterday but the laptop I have windows 10 on needed updating. I will try tomorrow. If anyone wants in the preview program my gamertag is Bilnick

Looks good. Too bad that it doesn't come out until next year. I guess the Uncharted Collection will have to tide me over until then.

The files for Mass effect and Viva Pinata were 5-6gb each, so I assume it is the whole game, and the XB1 just uses the game disc as a verification of ownership. If you are in the Xbox Preview program some backwards compatible games work now. Mass Effect, Kameo, Viva Pinata series, Perfect Dark Zero and Zuma are the disc based games that work now. I saw Geometry Wars, Defense Grid, and A World of Keflings download only games available also. There may be other downloadable 360 games that work too, but those three showed up automatically because I already owned them. You need to keep the disc in while playing a disc based game.

I tried Viva Pinata and Geometry Wars tonight on my XB1. Plays the same as my XB360 did. Friend notifications and achievements pop up 360 style. Pressing the start and select buttons simultaneously will pull up the 360 guide. When installing a disc based game it downloads a file from XboxLive, I was able to pop Mass Effect and Viva Pinata in and had them both in my download queue. Works pretty well.

The XB1 and PS4 both seem pretty quiet to me. Yeah the XB1 has a power brick, but it sits tucked away behind my TV stand just fine. I would wait on buying a XB1 until after the E3 show. I have read that the internal HDD will be upgraded to 1TB (which is still small in my opinion) and the new controllers will have a standard headphone jack on them vs the plug in dongle thing they have now.

Even though the Android rumor is false, an Android based OS couldn't be any worse than the molasses slow OS that the Wii U is saddled with. The Wii U OS is better than it was when it was first released, but still glacial compared to the PS4 and XB1.

From what I can tell you pick either the internal or external drive as the default install for both games and apps. Once a game or app is downloaded, it can be moved or copied between the two drives. (or three if you have two external drives). Apps are small (20-50MB), so they move between the drives quickly. I am not sure why you would want apps and games on separate drives, but if that is what you want you can do it.

Unless you can charge it via a standard USB cable, it seems odd that it doesn't come with an ac adapter.

how did Assassin's Creed Unity do in sales?
Bilnick replied to ComputerSpaceFan's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
How well AC Unity sold probably depends on how you count all the copies included in the Xbox 1 bundles. That is where my copy came from. -
Next Gen consoles, which one's the best?
Bilnick replied to Video's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
I had bought a WiiU and Xbox1 when both systems were released. The WiiU I use for Mario games and Lego City. I think I have less than 10 games for the WiiU since it was released. When 3rd party games were released for the WiiU, there was no reason for me to buy the U version over the 360 version. Once the Xbox1 was released I bought all 3rd party games for the XBox1. I was planning on buying a PS4 over the holiday shopping season but went with a second Xbox1 instead. There were three reasons I decided to go with a second XBox1. The obvious reason was price. Seventy dollars cheaper plus two AC games was too good to pass up. The second reason was the current exclusives available. Forza Horizon 2, Master Chief Collection and Sunset Overdrive sounded more interesting to me than Driveclub, Infamous, etc. If Sony had released a new Uncharted, or a remastered compilation of the PS3 Uncharteds I might have flipped to a PS4. The third reason was game sharing. I like being able to only buy a game once yet play it on both Xbox1s in my house at the same time. This feature has caused me to buy digital versions of games more often than I normally would. I would currently rank the systems: 1. Xbox1 1a. PS4 3. WiiU -

Newegg has a code for 12 months of live for $39.99. Not as good as the ebay deal, but you get the code immediately. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16874103299&cm_re=xbox_live-_-74-103-299-_-Product

Sunset Overdrive is available to try out for free tomorrow (Saturday November 22) for Gold members. I will definitely be trying this one out tomorrow, if it is fun I will likely add it to my Xmas list. http://majornelson.com/2014/11/21/sunset-overdrive-free-xbox-live-gold-members-saturday/

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare 360 Preorder?
Bilnick replied to Charlie_'s topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
I pre ordered the XB1 version through Amazon. The game is being shipped for Monday November 3rd arrival. If you did not pre order you would have to wait until the 4th to get it from WalMart, Best Buy, etc. -
I have seen a few of the youtube videos that compare the same game on PC/PS4/XB1. If the sections of the video were not labeled, I doubt I could reliably pick which screen went with what platform. When the differences are pointed out, sure I can see it, but to me the differences are minimal. I would expect the PC will pull away from XB1/PS4 eventually, especially if 4k video catches on.

If you don't mind a little more bulk and an extra power supply, a desktop external drive is cheaper per TB. I bought a 4TB external for $140 from Amazon. A 5tb drive was also available for the same price per tb ($35). I did have an issue with the usb cable that came with the drive though. My Xbox would not recognize the drive, while any computer I plugged it into did. I tried a different usb cable and it was recognized immediately. Has worked fine since.

Mario Kart 8 (free game with purchase, WindWaker etc)
Bilnick replied to cimerians's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
There are actually three Mercedes cars available. An open wheeled race car, a roadster, and a SUV. The price is right, I will download and try it out, even if it does seem out of place in a cartoony cart racing game. -

Don't forget about the Mercedes Benz DLC too! -
I thought I read somewhere (can't find it now though) that Ryse will be one of the first discounted "Deals with Gold" games in June.

I am not one to buy remakes, but will make an exception for this collection. http://www.engadget.com/2014/05/16/halo-the-master-chief-collection/

I didn't see a "good deals" thread for XB1, so I started a new topic. Anyway like the thread title says, Amazon has XB1 controllers for $50. Don't know if it is a limited time deal or what, but it is the cheapest I have seen for a new controller. The Special Edition Titanfall controller is $65 at Amazon as well.

Do the ads stop if you buy PS+? I just flipped on my PS3, Xbox360, and XB1 and compared. Hit the power button and did nothing else. I do have XboxLive Gold, I do not have PS+. PS3 had 12 ads. 8 were for games or PS+. The other 4 were for Hunger Games, HBO, UFC, and PlayMemories. Xbox 360 had 6 ads. 3 were game related (Titanfall AC3 and XB1). The other 3 were for Hunger Games, ESPN, and the USMC (although you do get a Marines avatar item if you look at the ad). Xbox One had 3 ads. Titanfall, Hunger Games, and ESPN. I am not really bothered by any of the ads, I guess I am used to them by now. I do have to admit I did click on the Marines ad for the avatar item even though I am way way too old to join the Marines. My son might think it is cool though.
