  1. You probably have good reasons to stay away from WoW.. You could give Torchlight a try, basically a Diablo II/III spin/ripoff made by some ex-blizzard emloyees.. It's very accessible, not too difficult(I found 'normal' setting even a bit on the easy side, and not expensive. Doesn't need a top end pc either. One last suggestion I have might be to check out some of the rpg's on the dreamcast as it has some great titles in that particular genre: Dreamcast top RPG's
  2. Try WoW 10 day trail.. I'll suspect you'll be hooked instantly. I'm more of an action based rpg'er myself (with, like yourself, a lot of time in Diablo I/II) and not a big fan of turnbased battle en Gigabytes ascii of story telling. You'll find everything you'll need in WoW. But I warn you, it's easy to get truly addicted.
  3. the most special Vectrex Items in my collection are: - Complete Passport Magazine (like the one the TS posted, there only seem to be very very few around) - GCE Minestorm II Revision B prototype cart - GCE Spinball Prototype - Custom 220 volts GCE modded originally 110 volts GCE Vectrex which was sent to the MB productmanager in Germany at the time for tests - Unused boxed MB vectrex (I think it's canadian or French) - Dutch MB Vectrex club card + forms - Alex's Protector
  4. Now how would 2,076,600 points sound? ~Ben May I suggest next time you use wolfmame and record your session. Then post it on MARP and I'm sure you'll get lots of credit
  5. Well, thanks for your suggestion anyway There's a video game museum here in the Netherlands as well, if I'd consider donating it.
  6. Hi, As some of you know from earlier posts, I have an original Namco Puckman cocktail cabinet, example : http://www.puckman.net/cabinets.html The last few years I've had confirmation this thing is very very rare, especially since everything except for the top plate is original, especially the early production PCB (It seems de cab is #426 being produced). There's basically two options for me. This thing goes into a museum or it's sold to a new owner which appreciates it's historic value. Which obviously brings up te matter of value. One thing I'm thinking about is offering it to the original manufacturer, Namco, they probably have some museum of their own. You'd probably want a japanese contact. You guys have any contacts or suggestions for me?

  8. Bagman ! But I must admit I never *really* tried to get into this game. Although I like it, everytime I play it I get so demotivated when I get killed over and over again at the first level..
  9. oops yes tx for the right link spookt. and maddestman... none up till now actually it seems perfect.
  10. Check this out! I just downloaded it this morning and it's a near flawless port! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1kQ2AEdJ6c3 Let's all buy it, perhaps they will port the other two as well
  11. Mame OS X actually is quite a decent port... All you need is a good romset and you're off ! you can try romburners (preferably) (or try to register @ http://full.pleasuredome.org.uk/ or http://www.underground-gamer.com/ ) just make sure you get a romversion as close as possible to the version of mame you're using and I'd be happy to put up some roms for you, just shoot me a pm.
  12. blast! I totally missed this thread... Uhm.. anyway for those interested: I made some videos during the event @ http://nl.youtube.com/profile?user=pepijn69&view=videos
  13. I liked WoW so much, I was hooked instantly. Since then I refrain from playing, as I really don't have the time to spend on this addiction. I'd love to have a few weeks like the old days, no obligations, no work, no nothing. Just eat drink sleep & play Would I love to play again .....
  14. I didn't play fallout, but I finished Fable II. Although I had lots of fun with it, it gets old soon once you finish the (pretty easy) main campaign. It's fun while it lasts though. Just be prepared for a somewhat casual gaming experience.. A nice combat system, but the battles are very easy. During the entire game, I never lost a life. Still, the atmosphere is fantastic, and you'll definitely have lot's of fun with it though, getting families, talking others into having sex with you, earning money (also very easy) and buying property, finding stuff, deciding to be bad or good, and so on. A nicely done casual style fantasy action rpg. Very addictive at first, very accessible. Don't expect oblivion style rpg depth or freedom though.

    New Vectrex owner

Congrats and I second that ! You can get them at http://www.vectrexcarts.com/vcarts.html You might also want to consider getting a flash cartridge so you can play the available rom files at the same site on your Vec (or maybe experiment with programming for it!). They're currently sold out I see, but you can get them here http://www.vectrex.biz/. For emulators, roms and development tools etc you can go to vectrexnews.com amongst others. Enjoy!
  16. I wouldn't dare to call ANY installment of half-life boring... And without knowing the PS/2 port, I'd say it's an interesting port to the dreamcast, especially since I remember it didn't run THAT great on my then pretty crappy pc either and given the limited amount of memory the DC has to run this, originally for PC developed, game. There's some frame hickups now and then, but overall I'd say it runs pretty smooth. It's not like you're watching a Jaguar 3D game or something Graphically the game is supposed to look better on de DC than the original PC release, although I can't recollect that from my own memory. About the controls: well... take any ASWD conversion to console and you pretty much have the answer. It playable, but it's not optimal of course. I think they supported the DC mouse + keyboard, but i'm not sure.. If that's the case, it would be a big plus over the ps/2 port. They added auto aim to make the controls a bit more easy and you can configure your own layout. As to the loading times... Yes, it loads and it loads frequently and sure, that's annoying. But when you gear down, maybe play some C64 games first, maybe you'll adapt . It's not getting-a-sandwich loading times, but let's say about 20 seconds every time. Overall, I can't be to hard on this conversion. At the time, I was pretty impressed they got to run it on my trusted DC in the first place. They really put in a lot of work to make it playable, and didn't just put out some rushed crappy port (well, ok, they didn't put it out at all in the end ) And oh yeah, the DC version also contains Blue Shift, which at the time was just released for the PC. I doubt you'll play it through today, but back then, it was nice to play this awesome game on my DC, even with the loading times.
  17. I wonder if she got to see those pictures before publication ? they're not to good, looks like they've been taken on a Sunday afternoon by the kids photographer at your local mall.... well.. at least he had a good afternoon
  18. euh... good question I've got no idea I've got the Wii version as well.. Although it incorporates some new ideas as well, initially it's a lot of fun to play. But when you unlocked all the galaxies, I personally somehow missed the addiction factor I have with this new installment. The control scheme is different as well.. You can use the Wii remote / nunchuk but there is also an option to use the classic controller if I remember correctly. Graphically it's not as impressive as GW:RE, as of course, the Wii is limited in that dept. I'd say if you can get it cheap, it's still nice to pick up, but although it's got more content, it's not as good as GW:RE2
  19. You're right, that is in fact an advantage... The downside is you need a hign res to see as much of the playfield as possible.. but then this means the screen really seems extra crowded and it's hard to find that needed space... I suspect the new version seems even more crowded on the smaller screen? Good eyetraining though
  20. Wow. HD arcade gaming at it's finest. Every new installment of this game on the xbox/360 really set new standards graphically. The new version is no exception. Fantastic graphics, the progress compared to GW:RE is enormous. They really pull out a lot of the 360's capabilities. You can also tell they really developed this with the higher resolutions in mind. You can tell when you play GW:RE @ 1080P the graphics aren't designed for this resolution, it's just the play-field which gets bigger. GW2 really looks amazing at 1080P, it takes full advantage. I love the use of colors and the high res vector style graphics with a 3d twist. As for the gameplay.. I only played the trail so far. Even more than with it's predecessor, you really want a big screen as there's soooo much going on on the screen.. You need really need to get into the empty spaces.. I noticed my scores really started to improve when I started to play on a 32" instead of a 19" monitor. It's possible, but just too crowded imo. I love the fact Bizarre never did any real concessions to the difficulty.. hardcore to the bone! 4,4M so far... edit: Played the full game and all I can say.. The best of the series ! Each of the six modes are really well thought out, and require a really good strategy(and zen like concentration). I absolutely love the king and pacifism mode. There is also an Evolved mode, which gives you GW:RE with the new twists. In King mode you kan only shoot in 'zones', as soon as you leave them (they disappear after some time) you collect the tokens (as seen in GW;Galaxies, they determine the multiplier level) and hurry your ass to the next zone, as enemies can't attack you there. In pacifism mode, you can't shoot, but you have to herd enemies before you blow the up using the exploding gates. I find myself constantly trying to herd as many enemies as possible to blow them all up together. (Which judging from my progress appearantly isn't the right strategy). The developers prove to be creative enough to come up with new twists on the GW theme without a feel of milking the idea. Each mode in itself has a very addictive twist to it. The last two modes are just pure mayhem, with the Waves level not really new for those who played GW:Galaxies. The exploding gates offer an new escape though. The pace of the last level, with twenty sequential levels to complete, each within 30 secs. with only 3 lifes and bombs, is very high, with a pumping beat, changing with every level. The sheer number of enemies on screen is amazing in itself... Really impressive gameplay (if you like GW).
  21. lol that vid probably does make the value go up.. This indeed HAS to be one of the worst, untested, unfinished, totally not fun to play collection of completely useless games. EVER. the commentator needs a life too, btw
  22. The crappiest games turn out as collectible ones sometimes... This costed $199 when it came out for 52 of the crappiest games ever.. No wonder it's rare nowadays Might stick this on ebay to see what it'll do.. I got it real cheap so wouldnt be too bad if it went up a bit.
  23. Everyone needs at least 1 Vectrex in their collection Just a console alone in a nice condition will already be very satisfying.. The built in game is one of the best Asteroids clones around. (In fact I prefer it over the original). It's pretty reliable as long as you don't put it in a very hot humid place (like a crowded game expo, I've seen quite a few die there). And if you want to collect the games for it: No problem getting all of them, there's only 27 commercial US titles (including minestorm 3D and artmaster). And the additional 3D imager hardware is very cool, too (although expensive).
