  1. I actually got this slim model because of this feature. Why? Because slot loading drives are bad design. If something happens to a regular drawer drive then you can push a straightened paper clip into a pinhole to pop open the drive. If it is a flip open drive (like the PS2 Slim) then you can simply flip open the top. If something happens to a slot loader then you have to take the entire fucking thing apart to get your disc out. I had this happen to me on both my older Mac Mini and a first gen PS3. So when I heard of this model I went for the 12GB hard driveless version so I could put my own 128GB SSD drive and have not had any problems with this unit.
  2. Deadly Premonition (aka Twin Peaks: The Video Game).
  3. Because MS cut corners to beat the PS3 to the marketplace. The first generation of X360 units had thin motherboards and an improper heatsink mounting unit. Part of the mount had a thin rod at the bottom of the board that the board would flex around when the chip got hot. Think "finger through Saran Wrap" and you get the general idea. Over time this would cause some of the contacts to pull away from the board and RROD. Bit MS in the ass big time.
  4. During the Game Over Classic Gaming Expo in Austin last month I stumbled onto one of these and bought it. This card has an Micro Sd slot and allows you to use various homebrews and emulators on the Nintendo DS. Based on some basic research it appears to be an old card that has been discontinued for some time. However, I wonder if it can still be of some use for my DSi XL and my new 2DS. Although the official software for this is no longer being updated is there any other software that I can use with this to make it possibly work with my units?
  5. I have three of these games (Crazy Climber, Crazy Climber 2, and Renegade) and I am impressed by their presentation. To answer the old original post there is a Scanline option in the Display Settings area (I have mine set to 2). While there have been complaints about the price I think that the price is okay considering the various options that you have compared to similar compositions on the PS3. I bought Ikari Warriors on the PS3 and it doesn't have the same type of options, such as Scanlines, like this collection does. The collections on the PS4 are a lot more polished to me. The only problem that I have, at least with the Crazy Climber games) is that the Analog Sticks are too twitchy. My engineering side is already whirring trying to figure out how to make a dual arcade stick control for use with these games.....
  6. Open PS2 Loader is way better than HDAdvance. In addition to that you will also need to get Free McBoot and WinHiip (for much easier installation). Compatibility rate is about 85% but so far nobody has made a USB or SD Card replacement for the DVD-ROM laser (similar to what the DreamCast has received lately) to make up the difference. I would also love for somebody to make a device that will allow you to use the PS3 and PS4 controllers on the PS2. And an internal HDMI mod too (just to complete the wish list).
  7. Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day - Nintendo 64.
  8. I prefer Wings on the Commodore Amiga. That has more of an emotional impact than this game will probably possess.
  9. Down here in the South Texas region we have several Game Over's and a few Gamefellas.
  10. The only one that comes to mind for me is Knightmare for the Commodore Amiga.
  11. Indeed. Is it possible to reverse engineer this unit and make a better one without all of the drama?
  12. Believe it or not I worked with him during my brief gametesting stint at LucasFilm Games. However, he was working on another game so his credits don't appear in the game I also worked on (which was Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (The Action Game)). If my fuzzy memory serves me right he got his "purple" nickname from those who interviewed him because of his purple socks and his purple car.
  13. The pictures are stored someplace on the hard drive. When you go into God of Destruction Mode there is the Data Entries option at the bottom of the menu that will allow you to go over what you have taken.
  14. Those beacons are the Data Collection Points. When you stand over them then activate the Camera by pressing R3. An uncollected point is orange and a collected one is purple. There are a total of 100 of these Points (four to each Area). You need to collect 50 of them to open up Stages 8 and 9 so you can get to the Final Stage. You don't need to get all 100 but there is a Trophy for collecting them all. Thankfully only the regular Godzilla has Data Collection.
  15. I'm impressed with the emulation so far. All I've noticed during my current GTA: San Andreas playthrough is some stuttering here and there and when there is a lot going on at once. I don't plan to buy a whole lot of titles but I will get the ones that I have written guides for - I already have GTA 3, and GTA: Vice City in addition to San Andreas. I'm waiting for GTA: Liberty City Stories, GTA: Vice City Stories, Bully, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts, Hitman: Blood Money, and Rumble Roses.
  16. I tried to get a look at it at PAX South but I think it was only shown off at a panel on Atari games programming that I couldn't get into (room full) because it certainly wasn't out on the expo floor and I went over that floor multiple times.
  17. The problem with the Sea areas is that there are no buildings to destroy and therefore you can't grow your Kaiju. These areas should be avoided when trying to get your chosen Kaiju over 100m. When playing as a Defender you should definitely avoid these Areas as the Subs can be easily destroyed and you can lose the Stage. Going along the Normal Route should give you more than enough stuff to destroy to get well above 100m (I've done more than 120m on multiple occasions). BTW, did you defeat Destoroyah?
  18. You need to do Fury Chains. When you start destroying stuff you should see a Fury meter on the left side of the screen. The longer you can make the chain, and the longer you can keep it going, the more G-Energy you can get when you destroy things. This will allow you to grow bigger and faster. This is key in getting upwards of 100m and more. The bigger you can make your Kaiju, the easier the battles can be because you can better break combos and the easier you can do yours. As for planes you need to use your Energy Blast on them as they approach. This is the best way to knock them out of the sky.
  19. Speed plays a role in how you get JJ - remember, if you're too slow, regardless of Destruction Rate (50 to 65%), you can't get him to appear. Destoroyah is the Final Stage boss for BG. Did you get over 100m in growth to get to the Final Stage? BG is the Final Stage boss for all the other Kaiju (except for Godzilla and Godzilla (1964)) and you can't play against yourself.
  20. JJ only appears in Areas 1, 7, and 16. Getting him to appear in all three Areas in one runthrough leads to the cutscene so there's nothing random about it. I knew about this from the beginning since this is how you get the Trophy associated with it.
  21. If you get JJ to come out in Area 1, Area 7, and Area 16 and in one runthrough you can acquire the Our Hero, Jet-Jaguar Trophy and a little cutscene. Destoroyah's appearance is pretty random but he is the final boss at the end of Burning Godzilla's runthrough. In addition, I noticed that it also appears frequently when playing as Mothra so you may want to play as that for awhile - Mothra also has a cool very powerful combo that can shred pretty much all Kaiju, including Destoroyah. Once you defeat Destoroyah then you can start to play as it and gain additional Cells. Megalon is one of the few Kaiju that does not appear in this game. It is also unclear if Toho plans to do a Shin Gojira DLC for this game to coincide with the new movie this summer.
  22. You have to get 50 to 60% Destruction and destroy the Generator quickly. If you're too slow then he won't show up.
  23. No. They're just part of the PS4 Trophy system.
