Help with modifying a power supply for use with the 2600
CosmicJoke replied to CosmicJoke's topic in Hardware
Eduardo, thanks for your great reply! I don't know much about electronics but you have explained well enough for me to understand. I guess I can get a cheap Voltimeter at Radio Shack? -
This is the technical info for this power supply I want to modify for a "homemade" 2600 PSU. 9VDC 1A POWER ADP MFG: ATARI Input: 120VAC 60Hz Output: 9VDC @ 1A Specifications/Features: 2 Prong input, 8’ cord with 3.5mm (O.D.) and 1mm (I.D.) coaxial connector for output, Center positive. UL/CSA Listed L: 3" W: 2-3/8" H: 2" WT: .9 I will post a picture of it at the bottom of this post. I believe the connector needs to be switched to a 1/8" type, right? So my question is: If I cut off this wrong connector to solder on a new 1/8" connector, how will I know which of the 2 wires is positive? I need to know this so that I can solder it on the center of the new connector? Sorry, if I sound like an "electronics moron" but I am! If I accidentially reverse the polarity when I solder the two wires into the new connector and plug the power supply into the 2600, will it ruin it? This power supply is new and really cheap. That is why I am considering the attempt at modifying it.

Hello and welcome! It is nice to see so many new members posting.
-
Hello and welcome! I guess I am not a serious collector yet. I only have a bit over 200 unique 2600 carts and none are above 5 in rarity. The most I have paid for a 2600 game was $10 or so.
-
Hello and welcome! Sadly, I think the rarest game I have is Laser Gates(5). Well, I have a couple of 5's nothing more rare then that though.
-
Yeah, O'Shea's has that title for $5.00, brand new. It is a cool find but not particularly valuable.
-
This really is some exciting news! I, also, hope this single chip Atari is reasonably priced. If it is, it will give me a "giant push" towards building a portable 2600 for myself
-
I will also pick up a copy when it is published.

Yeah, I guess I should. Unfortunately, The only extra green box game I have is BlackJack. It is missing it's manual(cart and box only). I didn't think anyone would want it. -

CosmicJoke replied to CosmicJoke's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I am bumping this. Sorry But, I think this is a good deal for any of the new Atari collectors to get nice boxed games. I will take Money Orders also. -
That's good news. Unfortunately, it is a little too expensive for me. I think, however, a lot of other 5200 fans will be ordering it!

atari 2600 U.S. Games/Vidtec lot of carts
CosmicJoke replied to CosmicJoke's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Since these are in excellent condition, I am not gonna offer cheapy-cheap prices like my other deals. If no one is interested, I will put these up on eBay. Of course, my Buy-It-Now price on eBay (while it will still be reasonable) is going to be higher then the amount I would accept from some one here. I'll help with an estimate of what price range I am looking for. If someone makes an offer around $12, I would probably accept it. 2 rarity 2's = $2 2 rarity 3 's one with manual =$6 1 rarity 4 = $4 TOTAL $12 I would be slightly flexible with the price. I really want to sell all 5 together. My price, I think, is pretty reasonable. Media Mail shipping would be cheap(around $2.50 with Delivery Confirmation). -
I have a lot of five(5) U.S. Games/Vidtec games for sale. All games are in incredible shape, virtually no wear. Towering Inferno comes with its manual. Here is the list: VC1001 Space Jockey rarity 2 VC1004 Command Raid rarity 2 VC1003 Word Zapper rarity 3 VC1009 Towering Inferno rarity 3 comes with manual VC2003 Eggomania rarity 4 beveled edge cart I am not going to mention a price, since people have tried to "haggle down" my other rather cheap prices. This is a good start on a U.S. Games/Vidtec collection. I think they released about 14? So, with this lot you would be about a third of the way there and you would have one of the harder to find titles(Eggomania). I am looking to sell all these together. Anyone interested can post here or email me. I will sell to the first reasonable offer.

Looking to buy a Jag, or a 3DO maybe...
CosmicJoke replied to IceCold's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
No, I don't have either of those. Some information you might not know: You can play Sega Master System games in a Sega Game Gear if you can find a Master converter(I think that is what it is called). You can find brand new Game Gear's for about $30. So, you could have a portable system that plays Master System games. -

CosmicJoke replied to IceCold's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
IceCold: You are an easy guy to deal with, I am glad you are happy with the N64. I wish you had posted this topic a few days earlier. I just agreed to trade my 3DO to Jet Boot Jack. Well if the deal with Jet Boot Jack falls through maybe we can work out a 3DO deal -

CosmicJoke replied to CosmicJoke's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Garbs, send me another email and I will give you my PayPal information. I will not be able to get to the Post Office Saturday, so, the earliest I can ship your games would be Monday. Lemmi, I have some more doubles of the "classic style" boxed games. I will email you first and let you pick out any you need. I also have some doubles of some of the Atari 5 language version boxed games. If you are interested in these, let me know. -
2600 Boxed Game Lot for Sale...pretty cheap
CosmicJoke replied to CosmicJoke's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Well if you want sealed 2600 or 7800 games try O'Shea's, I believe they have a bunch for $5 a piece. You might want to consider the $5 O'Shea's price as a starting price for sealed games. You might find sealed games somewhat cheaper but not by much. I am being pretty fair with my prices, most others aren't so fair. I have approximately 100 sealed games(combined 2600, 7800, 5200 and Intellivision) and most cost more(sometimes a lot more) then $5. -
2600 Boxed Game Lot for Sale...pretty cheap
CosmicJoke replied to CosmicJoke's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Atari_Never_Dies, are you looking for sealed 2600 games in general or only, specifically, a sealed copy of Space Attack? Although you are offering more money, the sealed Space Attack is already claimed. However, I am pretty sure I have another new sealed copy of Space Attack. I will look for it. -
2600 Boxed Game Lot for Sale...pretty cheap
CosmicJoke replied to CosmicJoke's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Tiggerthehun: OUCH! That really sucks! That would have been awesome. Collecting boxed games is more expensive then just carts, but, I feel its a more "complete" experience. It is still relatively inexpensive for the vast majority of Atari produced and most 3rd party 2600 games. I'm offering 5@$3.20 each. I have seen commons(cart only) sell for $3. Of course, not everyone sells as cheaply as I am Whoops, I think I am trying to talk you into THE DARKSIDE of collecting. -
I have sold some things on eBay and I would agree that a Reserve is the better option. Even if you have high Reserve that isn't met, people will still bid. This will give you a more realistic view of the actual "worth" of what you are attempting to sell. If you have a Minimum Bid that is too high, you won't get any bids and may never learn the actual "worth" of the item you are attempting to sell. Just my opinion.

2600 Boxed Game Lot for Sale...pretty cheap
CosmicJoke replied to CosmicJoke's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Thanks for the support TiggertheHun! It is kind of strange this stupid sale of mine has gotten so many views. I thought I was offering a pretty good price on the boxed games yet (except Lemmi) everyone has been haggling over the price Perhaps, next time I should increase my initial price so I can be "haggled down" to what I would really settle for.
