Hey, I quite like Robo Squash too. It's a bit hard though when all those splatters appear on your screen. I would like to plya it in 2 player also if I could find a Lynx buddy here in Tasmania, Australia. Regards, Nubian.

Hey All, You might ask where I have been for the last 2 years but Iv'e just heard about DISTANT LANDS. I mean I don't know the release date but Iv'e just seen the screenshots. My good buddy the Vectrex programmer Geofury told me about Distant Lands so now I want to know when it will be released. Maybe someone knows somthing. Please post here if you do. I think Alpine Games is fabulous but Distant Lands would be super cool. Regards, Nubian.

Hi Vectreker, Geofury's site doesn't have any screenshots of his upcoming Vectrex games unfortunately. Geofury is keeping it all under wraps but what I can tell you is that he had been working on the game for over 1 year and it's going to be reallly good he promises. 32k is big for a Vec game. Geofury says the game will be as good as, or even better than, Gravitrex (Dondzila) and Protector (Herbert) so this is a hard combination to to follow in the shoes of. I think Geofury wants to surprise the Vectrex community with something extra special so that's why the details of the game are scratchy. He is thinking of making the game a limited edition like Protector was, so I would advise to get in early on this one. Hopesfully when I finally get my Vectrex reviews site up and going I will feature a review of the game. Nubian.

Hey All, Yeah, I'm excited about the new Vectrex game coming out to. The author told me it is goping to be 32k. This is big considering the original Vec games were only a few k big (most of them). Here is a link to the site of Geofury (the author of the game): http://geovector.tripod.com He will be taking pre-orders late August for a September release. I really can't wait. Nubian.

Hey man, Try this website. This company is in California I think. They had an Atari ST mouse for sale when I last looked. www.4jays.com I was going to buy it but got side-tracked by the Vectrex games. Regards, Nubian

Hey All, This forum is my favourite Lynx forum too. Actually my two favoutite systems are the Lynx and the Vectrex. Everybody who likes the Vectrex should know that there is a new game coming out for her in September. Do a search for Geofury (the guy who is making the game). I like both the Lynx and the Vec because they are still being supported by programmers and even better games are coming out now rather than during the commercial days of these great systems. Regards, Nubian.

Hey All, Is the Checkered Flag poster rare? I also agree with the guy who said the Warbirds manual is first-rate. It is in full colour and really adds to the overall enjoyment of the game. I used to love Warbirds but I am a bit annoyed with it now as all you really have to do is turn off your engine and then glide and take shots at the enemy for higher points. Though a good dog-fight is still cool. My favourite posters are the Ishido one and the STUN Runner poster. Regards, Nubian.

Hey All, I got a new lynx on ebay a couple of months ago. The main reason I think I got it at a good price was because when you plug in the power supply to the jack sometimes it is intermitent and you can't move the Lynx very much. If you do move it you loose power and the game is spoiled. I was just curious as to whether anyone knew a good easy way to fix this or am I stuck with a Lynx I can only really use with batteries. This doesn't worry me that much as I love playing it with batteries, it would just be good to get the power jack fixed. Regards, Nubian.

Hey All, I recently returned go a second-hand delear and got the rest oif my Atari ST games. There are plenty of racing games and shoot-em-ups but only one plaformer which is called Nebulus. I had a play around with Nebulus and it has better graphics than my commodore 64 Nebulus so I'm happy with this purchase for 50 cents. I was just wondeing for future reference when I am considering buying more games for my 1040ST, what are the best platformers? Also, there is one more game up at this shop called PRO BOXING. Anyone played this boking game and what is it like? I'm also really pleased I joined this forum as I met another Atari ST enthusiast from Melbourne which is near where I live in Australia. He is actually going out of his way and sending me Gauntlet II. That's a very nice gesture and it really welcomes me to the world of this past classic that is Atari ST. Regards, Nubian.

LYNX - What are the differences between these model-no's?

My Australian Lynx II is a PAG-0401 Nubian -
Hello Serblander & others, My favourite types of games are platformers and racing games. I have Outrun and Crazy Cars II for my 1040 STe. I am looking to get one or two of the best racers on the ST and also the best platformers. I am going up to the second-hand dealer in the next couple of days to get the rest of those ST games I was telling you about. I only managed to get one disc of Human Killing Machine and Supr Hang-on, so I'm going to go to this shop and see if theyv'e got the other discs for these games. Maybe I haven't witnessed the full potential of the ST yet. I really like my 1040 STe but I noticed that Ghost's & Ghouls is pretty much the same as the Commodore 64 version even though the 1040 Ste is a much more powerful machine I think. What are the names of some of the games which have the best graphics on the ST? I have Red Heat and this is probably the best graphics I have seen on my STe so far. It's not that I only go for graphics in games, it's just that I really like to see good graphics. You must remember I am very new to the Atari ST so I know hardly anything about it or the best games. Any advice on the best games graphically and gameplay wise will best very much appreciated. Regards, Nubian.

Hey Serblander, I live in Tasmania. I used to live in Melbourne for a while in Hawthorn. I got around 10 games from this secondhand computer shop up the road. There are still some more there that I might go back and get one day. I've already said I will send those 5 games to this guy, after I finish exams, who also lives in Australia. If your looking here the guy I promised the games to, I am still sending them soon, within the nest 2 weeks after exams finish. I would really like to get some other good ST games that work on my STe. I will go up next week to see what else he has. I think he has Super Hang On, is this any good? Here are the best ST games I have in my small collection. Ghosts n' Ghouls Bombjack Outrun Space Harrier Crazy Cars II Couod you please tell me if these are actually good games compared to the very best ST games? I'm not sure what the machine is capable of in the games department so I'm not sure if these are actually GOOD games or not. Regards, Nubian

Hello dude, I wish I could get Gauntlet II working. T he secondhand computer shop where I got all my original Atari Powerpack game had two copies and I bought both of them but neither will load on my 1040 STE. My favourite game for the ST is Ghosts and Gouls at the moment. I have around 15 of those games from the Atari Powerpack you were talking about and yes their all originals. When I was younger I used to collect and pirate but now I'm older I only collect originals. In your opinion what are the top 7 Atari ST games I should definately own? I really like my 1040 STE and I wouldn't get rid of it for the world, I just need to find some good games for it. Regards, Nubian.

Hello all, I bought soem Atari ST software for my 1040STE a couple of days ago and I got this disc amongs them called a KRAM disc. It was made by R. Pratt in 1985 and put out by a company called Kuma. Does anyone know what it is? I don't have a clue what it does or what to do with it. Doea anyone know? I also have the following games which don't work on my 1040STE but they might work on the 520 and others as the files are all on the discs but they won't load on my machine. Someone can have them for free if they send me some money to cover the postage. The games are: Star Ray/ Star Goose, Phasar Space Harrier Gauntlet II Thanks, and I look forward to any info on the KRAM disc. Regards, Daniel.

Hello All, I hope members of this forum aren'y getting sick of my questions seemingI'm a new AT owner. I managed to get Crazy Cars II loaded this morning but when I play it the joystick wonlt respond. When I press the joysticj button it's like the accelerator is pressed and the car gets into motion allright but when I try to drive left or right on the joystick the car won;t respond. Is there a way to get to the Menu options on Crazy Cars II to change the setting to joystick? Or what else can I do to get the joystick moving the car? I have tried everything like changing joystick ports and searching for the correct driving keys on the keyboard but nothing works. There is also a shop I found where I live in Tasmania Australia which has around 40 Atari ST games (originals) so if someone in Australia want's me to get them some I will only charge them for the postage plus the price of the disc. They should only be about $1 or $2 each. I can get a list if anybody wants one too. Regards, Daniel.

Thanks guys, I actually wa able to get Outrun and Crazy Cars II loaded this morning. Still others won't load so I'll try and format a disc as recommended and then I'll open her up and give her a good clean from dust. I was so pleased to get Outrun loaded this morning, I was an Amiga 1000 owner when I was younger as the Atari ST didn't really take off in Australia I don't think. But now Iv'e got my STE and Lynx I'm an Atari man through and through. Regards, Daniel.

Hello All, I am a videogame fan and was thrilled when I got my hands on an Atari ST. I acquired an Atari STe quite cheap and I couldn;'t wait to get it home as I had also come across some games including an Atari Power Pack with games such as Outrun, Afterburner Crazy Cars II and World Cup Rugby. Unfortunatley I can't get the damn things loaded. The Atari STe starts up and I get the loading screen but then the disc drive stop sometimes with the disc drive light on and sometimes off. I actually got a 'loading error' when I loaded Outrun. So I have come to this forum for help. Could it be that the discs are all faulty or could it be that there is someting wrong with my Atari's disc drive. Something that happened was I get a picture of 4 small bombs with fuses when I load up Crazy Cars II and then the screen goes a strange color and the Titus loading screen freezes. Any suggestions are most appreciated as I'm not sure whether to take the discs back and get some other ones or if the problem is with the machine itself. Could it be that all these games aren't compatible with the Atar STE? Regards, Daniel Foot.

Hi All, Could someone please tell me if my Atari ST 1040STE will play ordinary Atari ST games? What is the difference between an ST and an STE? Any answer will be most appreciated. Regards, Daniel.

ALPINE GAMES REVIEW As many Lynx devotees know it took a team of programmers 3 years to complete Alpine Games. When you place the card into your Lynx you are greeted by 2 intro screens, one with good music, and then onto the main selection menu where excellent techno music comes into play. You can select from a variety of options including Competition and Practice as well as World Records. The beauty of the world records feature is that the hi-scores are automatically saved to ther card so no more long nights trying to complete a game which does not have an autosave feature such Shadow of the Beast and most other Lynx games. After selecting 'Competition' the first event faced by the player is Bialthalon. Biathalon is probably my favourite event and I have manged a world record of 27.3 which incidentaly is displayed on the Duranik.com hi-scores page. Here the player simply e-mails Duranik a world ecord score, by use of a special in-game code, and it is displayed on their website for all to see. Biathalon has a unique control method which is actually much improved from the Commodore 64 Biathalon (Winter Games - Epyx) control method. It takes a while to get the knack of it but soon you are up and running breaking world records. To cut a long review short the stand out events for me apart from Bialthalon are Snowboard Rush, Slalom, Bobsleigh and Ski-jump. Throughout the game the graphics really set the precedent for the enthralling gameplay, which leads to hours of gaming and perserverance, trying to set the new world record and be amongst the best in te world at playing this game. The graphics in 'Slalom' are actually reminiscent of real ski-slopes and how the team pushed the Lynx to her limits, and got that little bit extra out of her that other late 80's and early 90's games developers couldn't muster, is quite incredible. Other hi-points in Alpine Games include multiple player seletion so you can choose from 7 players from countries such as England and Japan. I have been speaking to the team at Duranik and there is also going to be some add on cards released by the end of thre year to add features to the allready excellent Alpine Games. All in all Alpine Games is the best Lynx game in my opinion and shows just what the lynx is capable of. At 35 euros the game developers have done us a favour and released a homebrew game into the market which is financially accessible for the average gamer and delievers across all borders. Magnificent. (Review written by Daniel Foot) Graphics : 10 Sound : 9.5 Gameplay: 10 Overall : 10

I'm not one to complain about videogames but I agree some are worse than others though I still like them in their boxes with manuals no matter what game they are. I always thought Steel Talons was a good game. I liked it anyway and I thought the graphics were actually quite good anf going downm that canyon is a blast. I might sound a bit dresperate and hard up for fun but this game I liked. Daniel.

That's near $5 each I paid for the Lynx games, not $5 for the lot. Daniel.

Hi All, I am just new to collecting Lynx games. I have around 25 games in their boxes which I was lucky enough to get for $5 or nder. I have a Lynx II and I really like it and games such as Stunrunner and Steel Talons are just super cool. There is a Lynx I (the first model) down the road at a second hand shop for AU$50 (U.S.$40). I just thought I would ask the group is it worth it at this price or is this paying a bit too much? The other thing I really like abput the Lynx is that it is still being supportred through homebrews. My other favourite console is the Vectrex and this is also still being supported by some hardcore programmers. My favourite Vectrex homebrew is a great little Defender clone called Protector, it's on a cart with another SpaceInvaders clone. These games are just great in vectors. Anyhow my new hobby is the Lynx and I love it. Maybe I should buy that Lynx down the road for $50?? Regards, Daniel.
