The vnew zealand story is a relatively unknown c=64 platformer great sounds and graphics too that and the gianna sisters would be my favorite 3 platformers

I've just got a gameboy advance sp complete with doom wolfenstein sim city and metal slug after many weeks of playing these games I'm thinking it doesn't have a lot to recommend it over the lynx, Sure it is small and the rechargable battery is a good idea but overall it doesn't really outshine the lynx I know I will probably upset peple that play the likes of maroi and pokemon etc on the thing but I'm just not interested in anime or tv show type games so for the stuff I do play the lynx will do me fine

I'm lucky enough to have a lode runner cart for my commodore sx from what I've been able to find out commodore carts are only 8 k/b so there would be plenty of room on a lynx cart to hold the data although the game editor the commodore version has would be lost on the lynx unless a way of saving the data could be developed. The commodore uses a very similar cpu to the lynx as well. so maybe it could be ported
-
Quite a few atari classics were available on the commodore hardly surprising as they use a similar cpu chip In fact a division of commodore business machines supplied atari and apple with cpu's so porting games amongst these machines was probably not too hard

Just been to the telegames website only to be greeted by the message that as of september they are discontinuing support for older consoles. This will make finding carts a little more difficult
-
I've got 6 consoles here 3 mk 1s 3 mk 2s. The later models have made in taiwan written on them the pag 201 is made in japan the 2 pag 200s one built in china the other built in taiwan. How many companies did atari have building these things?

Are we likely to have it incuded in the lynx site

Keep a watch on trade me as lynx units quite often appear there. and If youre lucky you will find one with a lot of carts thrown in . That's how i've been doing it.Only problem so far 5 consoles at least it will take some time to wear them out, and it's awats handy to have a spare for comlynxing when you get a few carts together as you always end up with doubles
-
I started this collecting bug 2 months ago And have had a very good run i've got over 60 carts now, and most of them are rarities. I'm fortunate that here in australia telegames product was heavily promoted. as the complete catalogue was quite easy to find.I've now only got the commons and a couple of songbird titles to find. i'm not that worried about getting protos as such rather a good selection of what was released complete for the console and of course doubles at least of the multiplayer carts.as cal games and checkered flag are at their best comlynxed. The only downside to this frenzied collecting so far has been a surplus of consoles and the cost

I've got two lynx 1s here both PAG 0201 one is painted grey over a chrome finish the other is grey coloured plastic strange as the serial numbers are very close to each other

Besides an embarrassing quantity of lynx units I've Also got an invicta electronic mastermind, an extemely primitive gaming machine the object being to guess a randomly generated number it has stored inside it resembles an early pocket calculator it has a vinyl folder complete with a small score sheet and an imitation gold pen inside. are these things very common as i've not been able to find out much about it

I've a spre CGE 5th anniversary cart here If anybody is interested in swapping for an alpine games
-
It would be interesting to see actual production figures of the various carts as I believe in some cases the rarity is regional. Telegames carts are surprisingly abundant in australia, mainly because the importer(imported nintendo as well!)pushed the product in fact top of the page in the australian lynx catalogue is double dragon. supposedly rare carts like hard drivin were a common pack in cart in fact that can still be purchased new for around $au 15.00, others like joust are still available new for a reasonable price. I got warbirds and joust new 2 weeks ago for $26.00 and$17.00 respectively

all I can think is why????? you buy the latest hardware and then woder if it can play the old games kinda defeats the purpose of buying the thing doesn't it when you can pick up the real thing cheaply that is guaranteed to play lynx games perfectly
-
I've just investigated the labels on my 5 machines the 3 lynx 2's are pag0401, and the 2 lynx 1's are pag0201 but they both have the black buttons and control pad
-
the rarity uide also takes into consideration the number of carts offered up for sale also I've found that a lot of the higher rarity value carts especially the telegames ones and others like hard drivin are really abundant here in australia where the local importer really promoted telegames and offered hard drivin as a pack in game. Lemmings maynot be extremely rare but anybody who owns a copy will be reluctant to part with it as it is such a great version of the game

All this discussion about release dates has prompted me to drag a few more carts out the bubble trouble cart I have here is on a green pcb cart with telegames ©1993 embedded in the cart Its unlike any of the cart types listed on this site sure its green and it's a pcb type cart but the workings are encased in a black plastic mass at the top of the cart when booted up it displays "copyright 1993 lore design limited" its packed in something that looks like a miniature video cassette case.I'd scan the thing but my el cheapo scanner has real problems with items that arent flat i'll see if my webcam can get a good enough image to post in the next day or so

I couldn' help noticing the number of battlwheels carts on Ebay ithe past week and most didn't even attract a bid one seller had at least 4 copies out there and an equal number of european soccer challenge the sellers handle was telegamesuk and can be found with the "search for a member" funtion on the homepage they had about 6 pages of stuff listed incuding a huge amount of jaguar stuff normally I wouldn't have hesitated but i'm recovering financially from a period of frenzied lynx aquisition
-
myatari.com and I believe songbird may also have them for sale I've read more than once about non working or damaged ones being bought on ebay.I've been lucky in that respect as my ebay purchases have been for carts mainly but every now and then a console is included with the deal i've now got 5 of the things 2 in very poor condition(these are the 2 I use) and 3 that are in like new condition I never set out to own this many but when a console with warbirds/double dragon /blue lightning came up for $35.00 the other day with lynx 2 large case and power supply I just couldn't help myself. now my ambition is to get enough copies of checkered flag to get a 4 player comlynx together it's a shame that most of the multiplayer carts are getting harder to find
-
The lynx 1 is an underrated model I use a Lynx 2 most of the time but find for games which call for the 2 option buttons to be used- battlewheels/todds adventure/xybots, That the option buttons are easier to operate. on the earlier machine I dont know if anyone else has this problem with the second model but the 3 i've used the option buttons need quite a firm shove to operate them,And the sight of the lcd moving with them is a little unnerving

I've got a telegames catarogue here dated 1993 it lists Krazy ace and desert strike wether they were available at that time I'm not sure as it also lists Guardians storm over doria

If you search ebay or google for a device called an xe1541 or x cable for short you can download disk images and transfer them to the c64 drive, you will need some knowlege of dos and an os that supports it ie win 95/98/me, definitely not xp or nt the software to do it is called star commander and is freely available on the net. A site called gb64.com has around 16000 game images for downloading the hardest part is getting the double density floppies as they are getting hrder to find the 64 is very well supported with software , Wish i could say that about the 128 which i own there wasnt ever much software written for it apart from a few text adventures.
