Here's the problem. I decided to clean a game that wasn't working properly. After I cleaned it with a qtip and alcohol the game barely worked at all.
Then I did the same to a game that I don't usually play but also works perfectly. After cleaning it the game barely worked also.
Is there something about cleaning them that makes it not work? It got off a lot of black that looked like ink, was that stuff necessary for the games to work?
I have an Imagic game that needs a thorough cleaning with some sand paper and I want to open it to make it easier. How do you open them without breaking it? It looks like it has 2 clips on each side but it still doesn't want to come apart.
In the manual for Kaboom! it says that there is a pattern that if you figure it out makes the game easier. I can play it until the highest speed and end up losing all of my lives. Is there really a pattern? And what is it?
My local flea market I have only seen something older that SNES once. It was a 7800 and the guy wanted $175. When I told him I'd give him $50 for it he laughed like I was stupid and assured me it was worth every penny he was charging.
It was just the system by itself
There's an important point there: are you looking to live demo the Atari in class? It may not hook up to a TV at school unless it is an older LCD with RF input. It'd crack me up if they still had a CRT type TV on an aluminum rolling shelf in the library somewhere. That'd be the ultimate demo.
I was in high school 4 years ago and the only TV's they had were the CRT's on a metal cart with a VCR and power strip built in to the cart. I assume they'll always have those
How do I test the power supply? I got those readings from the metal box that connects to the power outlet.
It gets pretty hot so I put a fan in the system and cut out a spot for it to blow out hot air, and it will stay cool. I cleaned a cart pretty good and it worked for about 20 minutes and went to the black screen issue again.
I'll take it apart later and try messing with the chips. Is there a specific one I should focus on?
I have read when other people ask this same thing, they are told to clean the cartridge port. How could I do that? And carts are a lot harder to push into this one, like someone pushed the pins out before.
