Why is the Xbox One Dashboard experience so horrible?

Kickstarter -- New System Shock game
moycon replied to SoulBlazer's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
I saw the last update, but I don't think they had posted a video yet. Looking good!! -
I love games based on movie licence, it would be amazing if this was ever released!

8 years later, How has Kinect Aged as a gaming device?
moycon replied to TigerSuperman's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
I would agree with this 100%. Definitely add me to the "like it" group, but honestly it just came off as a response to the gimmicky Wii which is all fine and good, but for as many units as the Wii sold, it never sold the games you should have expected and I think that was because a lot of casual / non gamers were the ones purchasing the thing. Again that's fine, but unless your goal is to get a bunch of casual to non gamers to buy your console but then not support it by not buying software because ultimately they don't care much about games but occasionally enjoy "bowling" in their living room, or trying to lose weight by playing mini games, it seemed like a pretty expensive and dumb move that ultimately just pissed more serious gamers off. -
Keystone Kapers 2!! Seriously, that is pretty cool. Looks similar to the "screen shot" of in the Atari 2600 Octopussy game by Parker Brothers.

Heh, We have similar tastes! I bought Demons Crystals cheap on Xbox One a few months back and I agree, it's very addictive! Also played Fairy Fencer F a few days ago after purchasing it in a bundle on Steam, and had a lot of fun with that one. Never get tired of those great looking turn based RPGs! Haven't played a new EDF in years, but have always LOVED that series! What am I playing now? Borderlands 2 on PS4. Yes I have all the achievements on the 360 version, and played it a bunch on the Xbox One, but now now nephew want to play online, so it looks like I'll be playing through this game yet again! (Good thing it's an awesome game with a cool story)

I honestly think this is an awesome topic but avoided replying just because of the time it would take! LOL If this guy is a troll, he's a polite one with an interesting way of trolling, unless he's about to tell everyone who posted in this thread they a loser fart suckers and he hates Kinect because it's for pussies. That said. I always kind of liked the Kinect. What I've played using it anyways. Admittedly isn't a lot, but what I did I always had fun with. I used YourShape for a few weeks (probably need to break that back out!) Child of Eden and Leela were interesting and different, so I always considered them a win. I could see how some would not enjoy these simplified games. It is completely un-nessesary, and basically just a gimmick but that's not unlike almost every peripheral I can think of. I never thought it should have been carried over to the Xbox One and looking back, making it a pack in for the original Xbox One unit was a huge mistake for Microsoft. That said, I'd really enjoy an afternoon of Kinect games every now and again. Or Wii games for that matter. *sigh* Even with not working, and no kids (grandkids) I still struggle to play all the games I want. -
I almost bought into these when they first hit crowdfunding. Had a chance to snag one for like $90 early bird. Even at that price seems kind of pricey for a mini arcade when you can snag any one of a dozen mini arcades from WalMart for like $20. Yes I know these are a bit bigger and more likely better made, but I suspect in the end they would just wind up on shelf collecting dust after a few plays. I might have considered it more if there were additional games included. A well made, mini arcade using a trackball with about a dozen classic arcade games included for $90 would be more tempting. Moreso if your hand doesn't cramp after a couple minutes trying to work with diminished controls like they do on every other mini-cade I've played.

I don't know how I forgot about this one! Yes Wolf Among Us was awesome! I played through it twice, probably to snag all the achievements. Seems to me I also have Fable graphic novels of the comics this was based off of. Really well done. Would have liked to of seen others based off of darker comics like Sandman or Swamp Thing.

I saw this news a few days ago and was sad to hear the news. Apparently Taletale games is shutting down and laying off all it's employee's. Mostly known for interactive story type games based off popular franchises (Walking Dead, Batman, Borderlands) etc... I enjoyed most of the interactive story type games, with the exception of Back to the Future. That one seemed a chore more than anything else. I know the games weren't everyone's cup of tea, but they always kind of reminded me of a more advanced type of game like Dragon's Lair where you make choices to continue a story line. The type of game you could kick back and enjoy more like a comic book than a traditional game. I've recently been playing a different type of game (non interactive story) from Telltale called 7 Days to Die which is basically a more adult version of Minecraft and having a lot of fun with that one. Sad to see these guys go. Any other fans ? https://twitter.com/telltalegames/status/1043252010999410689

Snagged the limited edition for $52 in 2011 and played the game for about an hour. I remember thinking it was very atmospheric and well done. The game was slow paced and a lot of fun and very creepy. The perfect game to play at Halloween for sure. Not sure why I dropped it. No doubt something else caught my eye and I had planned to get back to it eventually and just never did. My "to play" pile is just HUGE at this point. I could seriously never buy another game and not worry about having something to play.

Also had the 360 version and remember liking it pretty well. Also enjoyed Bullet Witch.

Man I have so much awesome stuff lying around that I rarely actually buy anything. My "scary room" (That's the name my wife gave it) looks like a mall toy store from the 80s!!

Been mainly playing the free card game Lies of Astaroth (Not sure why, interesting name, but it's not all that great of a card game) and also have been playing 7 Days to Die, which is basically an adult version of Minecraft.

I snagged a 3DTV a few years back and watch most of my 3D Blu's on that, but I have watched them on the PSVR as well and it works well in a pinch for sure! My 3D TV has already needed to be repaired once, I'm glad I have the PSVR as a backup.

Wow really? That is pretty wild. I love how after Roswell someone scratched in "don't go" , was it because of all the aliens!??
-
Pretty cool. I'm digging the clean graphics! I'd love to see the original Shadowman get the same treatment.

Playing through the game 7 Days to Die and came across this sign, I couldn't help but smile and consider taking a side trip to dig for carts!

Cool video. I remember when Kool-Aid Man and Chase the Chuckwagon were mail order only. Most of the games mentioned in this video I didn't get to try out until emulation, with the exception of Kool-aid Man mainly because it showed up in stores. I thought Kool-aid Man was pretty cool as a kid. I never had the game, but played it a handful of times at friends houses back in the day and remember thinking I wish I had it. Of course that was a time when I pretty much liked anything Atari (yes even Firefly) Don't know that I've played it since that tim, but it still looks pretty fun and I loved the fact it had Kool-aid Man crashing through the brick wall like the commercials at the time.

One thing to note if you are a huge fan of this game, it that there were figure released based on the game characters and bosses. Similar to the Minecraft figures, I picked up some of them a few years back.

My 100% cib 1980 factory reconditioned sunnyvale light sixer Atari 2600
moycon replied to PUNKxROCK's topic in Atari 2600
I have one of these boxed Reconditioned Atari. Didn't think they were all that rare but it does seem like some eBay folks think they are... https://www.ebay.com/itm/ATARI-VCS-2600-Sunnyvale-Console-System-1981-Original-BOX-Factory-Reconditioned/311756951723 https://www.ebay.com/itm/1977-ATARI-VCS-Factory-Reconditioned-Heavy-Sixer-Console-System-Original-BOX-LOT/372353229400 To answer yanbu, yes the Factory Reconditioned is part of the graphic text, not a sticker slapped on the box. -
Played some VR last night. Still get a kick out of the Spiderman Homecoming Experience, my brother mentioned that there is a full Marvel VR game called Powers Unite, where you can play as various Marvel characters including Doctor Strange, Hulk and Wolverine, but unfortunately it isn't available on the Playstation. At least not yet. I hope it come to the PSN eventually. That just sounds too cool!

I bought this game years ago when it first came out and played a few time. Never could get into it, although I thought it was pretty interesting and had some cool enemies.
-
I used to love Doom as well, and have beat it on a variety of platforms including Jaguar. Haven't really played it in years. I never even thought of the possibility of cool mods although I'm not sure why. Years ago I discovered that another one of my favorites Diablo 2 also has a bunch of awesome sounding fan made mods. I really need to start revisiting these great old games and check out creative new ways to play them.

I read that you can buy some sort of generic bases that will raise the cabinets to arcade height, also I imagine you could maybe also just fashion some sort of platform yourself. I agree they would be too "short" as is.
