  1. I think the two most expensive old school coin-ops right now are Galaga and Ms Pac Man. In fact they now sell a new Galaga/Ms Pac Man combo for a mere $3,750-$4,000. These two games still have that magic staying power and still bring in consistant weekly revenue for game vendors. My dad does this for a living and I worked with him for about 2 years. Your best bet is to look up a local games distributer and give them a call. Sometimes they have to clear out a warehouse or something and will sell games for pretty good prices. A plus side to this is if you go down to their office many times they have all the latest games set up in a display area and you can play them for free!! Just don't bring a 6 pack of beer and your lunch...They might get a little ticked at that.

    why 2600?

Soooo... Now I'm confused? That short Captain whos image we see on the Cap'n Crunch cereal box is the reason Atari re-named the Atari VCS... Atari 2600?? Well I guess they all did smoke alot of pot back then.
  3. quote Comment: Its good. Seriously this would have been a fine addition to the 2600 library. All the Star Wars games were good in my opinion and this is no exception. But yeah Stan... It would be a much better game if you could kill a few of the Ewoks. *Yub- Yub BOOOM ARRRRHHH!!*
  4. 999,999!!! Is that possible???!!! I havent played that game seriously since I was a kid...But I only remember getting like 5,000 points...on a good game. I dont remember that being a very high scoring game. I guess if you were really good and had about 20 hrs to kill. I'd want more than a stinkin patch tho!!

    RETROSPECT

It would be really interesting to see what would happen if a hand held 2600 that took the orginal carts was mass produced. I realize there is a hand held 2600 out there...But I think the cost would have to be under $50 to get it in the hands of enough people to see a difference. By that I mean...Would more people start developing 2600 games as a profitable venture. Even to the point of starting up a company that just produced 2600 games? And would they, like we've talked about here before, make games based on what was popular at the time? (Crazy Taxi, Turok, Resident Evil) Would the prices of 2600 games go up on the secondary market? Its a nice thought...I'd doubt it would ever happen tho. Too bad.
  6. Well I won't defend the 2600 version...It sucks! I remember wasting a lot of quarters with my friends at the arcade playing DD tho.
  7. I think if I could find one for under $1000 I'd want either Tempest or Star Wars the Arcade Game. I remember years ago I was at a game distributor and they had Star Wars for $600.00 If only I had the available cash then that I have now. Oh well.

    POLL2

Is that how much it is? $40.00? I'd go as high as $20.00. But yeah $40 is a little steep.

    Donkey Kong

I think Neteo Already answered that. They wanted to cash in on the games fame so they slapped together versions for their competitors but really they wanted people to buy their hardware. Hence the dismal Atari version.
  10. You kiss your mother with that mouth?

    why 2600?

I dont think they named it the 2600 until after the 5200 came out. Half of 5200 is.... 2600. Before that it was just Atari VCS. Maybe the question shoud be... Why the 5200???

    Gift Idea

Great IDEA!! My father and I used to play Atari all the time together when I was younger. He now plays PC games.. Mostly racing and retro games with "facelifts". I always have a hard time trying to decide what to get him. I sold off most of my collection years ago when I bought my house...But I still have a few 2600's laying around. I'll have to get one ready to go!!! Thanks for the tip!!!!
  13. Yeah I know how you feel. I too had a C64 and a friend of mines grandmother lived down the road. Her son would send her boot-leg copies of c64 games...She had 100's!! She of course would copy some for me and to this day I still have many, many games on disk and cart for it. But your right...To this day I still think of Atari when I think of the gaming I did as a kid. Weird!!!
  14. How much are they worth? I have a set boxed.
  15. I can vouch for it...Its one of the better Data Age games. Not sure about the PAL tho.
  16. I'll second the nostalgia factor. Its hard to believe that the Atari 2600 could have affected so many young people the way it did. I stress the 2600 because even tho we all had access to Colecovision, Odyssey, Intelivision, Vetrex, Hell even the 5200.... The fondest video gaming memories involve the 2600. I can remember literally spending hours and hours of play time daily on the 2600. Thats not to say my friends and I didnt do or go anywhere else...But Atari always played a daily role in what we did. One quick game before we leave. I think thats why this site is great. You get the chance to interact with other Atari-holics. Just a reference as to how much the 2600 has touched everybody here. Check out the # of posts to the 2600 forum as opposed to the others!!
  17. Yep that was it!! Scorched Earth. The Mother of All Games. Heres a link I found: Mother of all Games It would be cool if some of the elements of this game could be added to the Atari version your working on. Also I had a question that went unanswered last week... Is the game Archon do-able on the 2600??? That would be to me the ultimate 2 player Atari game. If it could be done.
  18. The pics are great! Aren't there any girls that are into Atari? And whats up with that? I know it wasn't just guys playing these games in the 80's. Does it have something to do with the Atari gene that most women are missing?

    POLL

Well I'd take your poll but the same thing happens to me when I click the link: quote And yes I'm already signed into Yahoo. Still no go.
  20. I can't belive no one said Sneak N Peek!!! Oh yeah I guess cuz that game kinda sucked. My father and I used to play Artillery Duel duel daily, so I second that one. But also and I dont think anyone mentioned this one yet. M.A.D. That game has a great 2 layer game where one person is the base and the other drops the bombs. Id have great fun nailin me pappy.
  21. My father and I used to have a ball playing Artillery Duel when I was a kid. That game is also similar to Catapult. I seem to recall years later my brother had a game on the pc. The graphics were simple and it was also basically Artillery Duel but you would win money to purchase things like shields and nuke bombs and parachutes...etc...etc.. Will yoy new game be anything like this??? That would be awesome. In any case. Good luck. Can't wait to give it a try.
  22. I picked up a bunch of the Big Lots carts back when they had em... But I think the weirdest place I bought a cart was there was a Red Owl grocery store in Wisconsin that was selling US Games carts out of a bin. That summer I got Commando Raid and Sneak and Peek for $7 each.
  23. I always thought secret quest was pretty advanced. I've played the hell out of it on my atari about 5 or 6 years ago. Had a note book full of maps...I dont remeber getting to the end though. Does anyone know what happens if you get through all the lvls?
  24. Yep I agree the best was Adventure. The worst had to be baseball...2nd only to football.

    blaster

I know when playing space invaders if you turn on your Atari while holding the reset down you will fire double shot... I dont remember ever getting more than that. When I'd fry that game I'd wind up with Aliens or a gun that looked like they were already blown up.
