This joystick say Magnum by Mastertronic on it. Right now it's in pieces and has been for about 3 years. The pistol grip part is all black. The top of the stick where the joystick comes out is blue...and the button that you fire with and the joystick itself are red. One more thing I noticed is that you dont fire the joystick from the front with your index finger like a gun. The fire button is behind the joystick and you use your thumb to press it. I guess I'll try to find some info on the net about it.

And then lets not forget...Space Jockey. *yak*

Yeah Laura's great!...But I'd still settle for Ms. Pac Man in a tight sweater.

I seem to recall when I was about 11 or 12. I went to spend the night at a friends house and he had just got the new Swordquest: Earthworld. He filled me in on the details of the contest and we wound up playing that game until about 4:00am (I think that was the latest I had ever stayed up at that point.) We probably found all the clues...But I think we were looking for a screen that told you that you beat the game...and of course never got one.Any ways for as long as we sat playing the game that night...I can honestly say, even being that young and an Atari fanatic... I thought that Earthworld sucked really bad and only played it because of the contest...A short time later Fireworld came out and it was even worse...That games seemed so buggy to me or something. Like someone didnt quite finish thier job. So to answer the topic question. In my opinion. None of em!!! Of course Im also that one guy who liked ET...So maybe my opinion isn't worth much

Oh jeeze...How about Apollos Skeet Shoot?? PU

Please send me the chip that's labled "Octopusy" I know exactly what to do with it. Also ignore people who tell you it's a very rare game... The name of the rare Parker Brothers game has 2 "s's" in the title and is obviously not related... Thanks!! Errrr Ok Well it was worth a shot. BTW those links don't work.

Its a good one...Ahhh yup.

I have an Atari controller I bought years ago from a flea market. It is shaped like a pistol and has the joystick sticking out the top and an index finger trigger. The controller itself doesnt work, I had taken it apart and saw the problem with it but decided that it would probably be very difficult to repair without the proper part replacement. I've seen the controller on Atari sites before .. Is it worth repairing?? How rare are these controllers? And do they work better than other controllers? Thanks for any input.

Stan, When will this site be up? Any clue yet?

Yeah as a kid I loved the THOUGHT of the Wizard games. I never actually played them as a kid and had to wait until I was about 25 and bought Halloween for $80. Then I got to play TexesCM on Stella. I first saw the horror ones advertised in the back of Fangoria...I also remember seeing an ad or an article on Flesh Gordon at the time...Maybe in National Lampoon...or Heavy Metal??? I cant remember. Anyways I found this page with an image of the box. http://www.atarihq.com/museum/2678/games/b.../box/fleshg.jpg

I'd have to say Haunted House. The Atmosphere of the game was certainly spooky with the blowing wind and creaking doors. And it was pretty fast paced and challengeing...But ohhhh jeeze those graphics were nothing to write home about!!

When Cystal Castles came out back in the day...The gaming magazines slammed it....I think one started out as saying..."There are some games that just shouldn't be ported to the Atari" and they gave the game a D !! I dunno why though... I always enjoyed CC. A few of my other favorites: Dig Dug Phoenix Missle Command

If you're not including the enhanced supercharger games...My vote goes to Pitfall 2. I can remember getting that for my birthday when it first came out. When I realized you could swim my eye's widened. When I fell over the waterfall..My jaw dropped.. I really thought that game was something else. And to be honest it still holds up today as one of the funnest, prettiest Atari 2600 games ever.... I think.

I thought of a couple more. When I was a kid I was always in awe of the adult games (Beat Em and Eat em, Halloween, Texes Chainsaw). I had no idea what they looked like but I guess since you had to be 18 to buy them I thought they must've been something else. It seems to me one of the companies Wizard maybe at one time had an ad for Flesh Gordon!! That wouldve been something...Maybe

As far as actual sequels...Didnt they release Miner 2049r and Bounty Bob Strikes back? Or was it just called Miner 2049r II? Anyways it seems to me they could only fit 3 boards on a cart so they released 2 carts.

ET 2... That would've been cool. Hu? Start out avoiding the bad guys (yes you did that in the original but it wasnt very action packed) Have something to do with him flying on the bike having to avoid trees and such. The concept of the original was fine Just the execution was terrible. Hell they paid enough for the licence...Id of thought they'd make a ton of ET and Indiana Jones games.

One thing that really suprised me about atari is that in a 10 year period there wasnt a ton of sequels to hit games like there is today. (Final Fantasy 10 anyone) The sequels that I can think of were pretty good too! Frogger 2...Pitfall 2 come to mind. For me the coolest wouldve been a sequel to Adventure. The graphics would have been improved but kept the same basic design. The area to explore would be much bigger. The sword would only stop the dragons temporarly until the 5th time you stuck them with the sword, then they assume the head back position. The bat would suck worse. etc... Just curious if anyone else had a favorite game they would have liked to see a sequel for?

Well and then there was Montezumas Revenge. About as close to an RPG as you got on the 2600... Which wasnt very.

I bought Private Eye from the mall after the crash. I got it for like $5.00. (I think that same day I got 2 of the Mythicon games for .99 apiece) I loved PI definately not D+!!! I never could solve more that LVL1 and 2 tho.

Lord of the Rings looked/sounded like it was the mother of all 2600 RPG's... Ummmm anyone got a copy laying around? Anyone?
-
I dont know if this counts, But remembering things that later disappointed me Atari wise. I remember ads in the back of the gaming magazines, there was one that listed a bunch games and the prices to purchase them. I got really excited when I saw...Adventure II !! Unfortunately I think the ads were refering to the "new" Swordquest series. What a disappointment.

I remember I was VERY excited as a kid when I read games like Friday the 13th and Jaws and many other movie titles were coming out for the 2600 ( Airplane, 48 hours ) I think 20 Century Fox was putting them out. Electronic Gaming monthy reported it in their magazine... I waited and waited...*sigh*

Ohhh The map room. I remember how much trouble we had with that room!! For some reason when we looked at the symbol we kept thinking it was of Indy holding something! Check it out and see if you see that too! I remember having to wait and wait for the sun to come out to try the next idea we had... then when that didnt work... Wait some more. When we finally figured out you had to be holding that...Errrr... Whatever it was. We were estatic... Just knew we were getting SOOO close to the great ending.

Paid $80 plus shipping for Halloween with out the manual about 4 years ago. Wound up selling almost my whole collection of Atari on ebay. A 2600, a 7800 and 258 different games and about 25 more that were doubles...Think I got about $860 if anyone cares. and yes now I regret it... *sigh*
