A recent Reddit post about the poor sales of Astrosmash on Steam had a link to his old rant pages. Something was seriously wrong with him.
What total and complete BS. Almost everything the transparent man said was not true.

I'm so confused. I've followed the Amico and I know Amico games can only be fully experienced with the unique Amico controller. Amico games are exclusive to the Amico console. Nintendo only makes family unfriendly systems. How can this exist? Must be a deliberate blooper to trip up the haters

Games would have to be modified to work with other controllers. Some games are getting ported to other systems but the Amico Home thing would require Amico controllers or something emulating them. And phones emulating physical controllers isn't ideal for action games.
False. Amico Console allowed you to connect your cell phones as a controller. IE never said this was limited to certain games. IE never said the games would be modified to use the Cell Phone controller. IE never said the games would not run the same using a Cell Phone as a controller.

It just hit me. Amico Home requires two phones for someone to play a single player game. One phone for the screen and another for the controller. What a cobbled together mess!
Reddit folks have pointed out previously that the Amico Console OS was an APK loaded onto Android. So Amico Home is most likely that same APK sideloaded onto an Android phone. That's why you need a second phone with the controller app in order to play a game. No work done at all on the APK.
So the Amico experience now is:
Android cell phone based
Amico console not needed for couch coop play
Amico controller not needed
Not simple to use
Great job IE!!!

Amico Home was demonstrated.
From what I remember TT saying:
- Couch coop play cannot be done with mobile gaming on cell phones
- Amico controller is necessary to get the full Amico game experience
- Amico console is simple to use - grandparents can set up
- Amico console is not an Android box
So what is Amico Home:
- At least three smart android smart phones are needed for couch coop play. One phone is the screen for all players. Then each player uses their phone to load the Amico controller app.
- Controllers and Phone with game screen must be on same wifi network to connect
- If you want to play on a big screen, you have to either cast or connect by HDMI the "screen" phone to a TV
So Amico Home is the exact opposite of what TT was promoting the Amico to be.
And in the demo video, they could not get a phone with a controller app to pair with the "screen" phone. They gave up and never talked about it.

You'd have to ask the developer if they were able to port over old Wii code. Otherwise they could replicate some of the things they did before.
I’m not asking the developer anything. If you want to contribute something to the conversation you could ask and let folks know what the developer says.-

As a total tangent, I found out today that JV Games- the developer behind Towers 2 on the Jaguar AND the awesome new updated version- are the guys who made Darts Frenzy for Amico. Here’s the link:
https://www.jvgames.com/games.html
I am super pumped that Towers 2 is back and it’s also hilarious that their new Jag game is released before their Amico title. I feel bad they were sucked into the IE abyss as Towers 2 was great and I liked their Wiiware titles. Unlike IE I’ll bet Songbird paid them as well
it's clear this is simply a port of their Wii Ware game Dart Frenzy. Same aiming graphic, same game graphics (bullseye).
Another Amico exclusive!

That just does not look good to me. I don’t understand why the board is so small when aiming. Would have expected a zoom in to aim, then back out for strength of toss. Or at least the board being bigger. As it is, the target is tiny and nothing else in the environment matters.-

I'm seriously asking, what is the holdup on them releasing the Amico Home app? Their UI was always a basic android apk. The games are supposedly done.
It doesn't even require them get those FCC certs which have been so elusive!!!
Unless they don't want to release it of course.
Sometimes the simple answer is the correct answer. Games are not released on Amico Home because the games are not done. This simple answer makes sense when the released videos are just short takes.

I think the Intellivision star is in decline but I’d consider buying a well-implemented INTV mini, so long as no money or glory would go to the braintrust behind Amico.
If you haven’t yet done do , look at a Mister setup. Really versatile with large number of consoles, old computers and arcade games. Can get adapters and use original OG controllers for the popular old systems.
I’ve found it so good that I’ve put away all my old rgb modded consoles, switch boxes and upscaler and just use the Mister

I never really understood how Amico's dice or card games would be appealing. They had no online play. Everyone had to be in the same room to play. If you are in the same room, why wouldn't you just take out some dice or a pack of cards? Never made sense why one would fire up the Amico. These two articles on Giantbomb have some good insight into why that might be.

I was thinking some sort of survival horror/FPS/Tower Defense type of game with the license. Like, you're a toddler by day, roaming about the house n' playground gathering resources to "prepare," and by night, you're a Toddler Nazi Werewolf Hunter who has to fend off the onslaught until your AM naptime.
Toddler Nazi Werewolf Hunter = That's a Toddler who hunts Nazi Werewolves, by the way. Not a Werewolf Hunter who just happens to be a Toddler Nazi. That wouldn't be very family friendly, I don't think.
Family friendly! Kids can play the game during the days. Mom and dad can play at night! Perfect for all ages!!-

This price dispute, like a lot of drama in the Amico world, wouldn't had been a big deal at all if Tommy had just acknowledged it truthfully. It's understandable that production costs fluctuate. It's also sensible that his original ranges before the system had actually been developed would be subject to change. But when he goes on to accuse others of lying and spreading misinformation just to avoid admitting he made even one innocuous error, that's what people take offense to.
PRGE 2018: $149-179 is the price point that we're going for... So it will be somewhere in between there. We're hoping for $149 but this gives me a little bit of room. Because if we come up with something so cool, or some new technology hits in six months from now. And we've gotta get it in the system. And it's going to cost us $10 more to make. I don't want to not do that and say "oh gee I told those people a year ago it was going to be $149 or whatever." So we're giving ourselves a little room but I just wanted to tell people the price range that we're looking at. Under $200, way under $200.
Yes, agree 100%. All TT had to was say our original price target was $149 - $179 but as we developed the console we realized it had to be priced higher. There may be grumbling that the price has gone up, but the discussion will be about the console and not about liars, haters ad nauseam. -

Again, you are operating in bad faith. Either state your qualifications to make the ridiculous claims you are making or stop making them. Many individuals here have actually manufactured products or been involved in start-ups and corporations that have actually engaged in raising rounds of investment capital. An exit strategy is virtually never in an investor presentation as it shows a lack of belief in the ability of the proposed company to actually succeed in its intended function (i.e. to get the product or service to market and actually generate a profit sufficient to benefit the investors). It is also a potential regulatory red flag as it is highly speculative and could be used as the basis of an investor or shareholder lawsuit. What you will typically see is a detailed explanation of how a company intends to generate return on an investment in a reasonable time horizon. Anything beyond that is simply not done and certainly never in writing.
19 minutes ago, mr_me said:Startups planning for an IPO, for example, is an exit strategy. And I've already said that's after success in the market. An equity investor eventually has to sell their shares in order to realize a profit. A company acquisition could be years after product release. I don't see any of that being outlandish. And I'm saying this because I have seen samples with exit strategies. And of course, most importantly, an investor needs to see a sound business plan that will make the company money. Regardless of how poor this document is, which we don't even know if it was shown to investors, an exit strategy does not mean they didn't intend to release the product.
There is a difference between an IPO and selling the entire company. The Intellivision dec does not discuss IPO.
Again you did not answer the question as to what personal experience you have with this. Your lack of an answer is an answer.

Speaking of the RTC... I heard rumors back in the day... that there were games for the Dreamcast that changed depending on the time of day and the time of year?
Like, if you were playing a specific RPG, and it was winter time, it would be snowing outside in the RPG... etc. Is this true?
Christmas Nights into Dreams. If you set the clock to December 25 it has special graphics (including Santa) and Christmas music

Haha so true. Wasn’t even accidentslly correct, like this thing that gives me the same feelings as Amico.
There’s no “interpretation” to be made. To fail FCC tests and not to attempt FCC tests bring about the same result. No FCC certification!
@Flojomojo @MrBeefy You both just don’t understand. IF what I am ASSUMING is TRUE then I BELIEVE what I believe. On top of that someone once SAID something which can be used to support my ASSUMPTIONS and OPINIONS.
Now this is clear.

Congratulations. You have earned your hater badge. You don't have Tommy Tallarico's DATA. You obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about and that's why they have assembled the best team with over 600 years of industry experience.
They are doing something unique here, and these games can't be played any other way. We know you are a hardcore gaming racist and can't think outside your own bubble.
Atari doesn't know what they are doing and Intellivision is totally going to beat them this time.
So stop being an untalented jealous gatekeeping.
In a vacuum this sounds like the ravings of a deranged person.
But in reality these were repeatedly said by TT as to why they would succeed and any criticisms were wrong.

@82-T/A It's long, but read the archive of Tommy Tallarico's original Amico thread here at Atari Age. It's been made non-public here at AA and you have to go to offsite to find a backup of most of it. You be surprised at the behavoirs of TT and supporters of the Amico thread. As you read TT's post, remember this is being marketed as a "family friendly" console targeted at mothers and young families to play with their kids. Link: https://amicoage.neocities.org There are more sites that provide a better synopsis of what occurred
I used to spend a lot of time on the Jaguar forum and remember you as a regular there was did not troll.

is there a working budget option to fix it somehow? I am out of discretionary hobby funds for a little while
Pencil eraser to the mylar sheet and black button contacts. Buttons will work for a while. Then use the eraser again when they stop working again. Can't get any cheaper than this!

How in the world would anyone making a family friendly video game console approve of their "insiders" putting stuff like this out on the internet?
