Unfortunately I don't know. If it up-scales composite, then no, but if it actually uses RGB, then possibly! It would be really useful to get some kind of post together detailing how well these things work when people do test them.
Bob showed the RAD2X working with the 7800GD, but a lot will depend on your TV as well, how it handles sync jitter.
I'll test with a RAD2X as well once I get the chance to order 👍

Yes and no. Physically and electrically, yes. However many HDMI TV's (like my Bravia's for example) are EXTREMELY picky with sync jitter to the point they just wont display a picture. The 7800 sync is very jittery due to the crazy clock cycle stretching Maria does to handle slow access to different parts of the system.
The RAD2X is a scanline based upscaler, so it can do nothing to help sort out sync issues. My monitor, for example, doesn't care about this and will display a picture just fine (via OSSC in this case, same type of upscaler), but as mentioned the Bravia just wont work. I use a Tink5xp in framebuffer mode and have tested with component and RGB inputs from the 7800GD and it works perfectly, even with the Bravia's.
So, basically, it depends on your setup -- it may work just fine, it may not. If you already have a RAD2X, definitely test it before looking elsewhere, but you may find you need a framebuffer based upscaler.
Thanks for the info, I have a RAD2X Gen 2 cable I use with my RGB modded Omega Entertainment Machine that has an upgraded video card and it works fine with my LG 4K TV so I'll definitely try it with the 7800GD. I have the older RetroTINK 2x-Pro not the 5X but haven't used it much lately.

There is no difference in hardware, it's just what else is included in the package as extras. SAG always brand things up in their own style and do value added extras to go with it, which is great!
There are bundles which offer related things at a discount as well, which include the Mega7800 and I believe a MegaDrive2 style RGB AV cable.
I've not seen the label proper yet, but the rendering looks very cool! It's a shiny holographic style material so I gather.
So will any Genesis 2 / Mega Drive 2 cable work with this? Say for example a RAD2X HDMI cable?

Right, not counting the Nintendo PlayChoice-10 or the Sega Mega Tech/Mega Play.

Vectrex for sure, also for some strange reason a Neo Geo AES home system was converted to a cabinet system...

There's a mod right now to add about 11 games to the stock PCB. Search on reddit for it, very simple to do. May use something similar to this to add more games to the stock PCB down the road.
Has to be done TODAY before store shuts down today 7 PM CST!

I love my iiRcade and am sad they didn't make it. That said, as much of a supporter of the dream as I was...anyone with any business sense had to have SERIOUS questions about how they were running things.
With basically no advertising or social media presence at all anywhere, I don't even know how I found out about it (probably through this website somewhere lol!). They didn't even (I don't believe?) have an instagram or Twitter account, just Facebook. Their own website was often out of date, I just ... don't understand how they were going to grow a user base that way.
But that said, I have a TERRIFIC machine from them. Built much better than the others I have (TAG multicate, A1ups), looks better, Sanwa controls...and I will be playing Alien Storm, Elevator Action, Moon Patrol, Time Killers, Arabian Magic, Ninja Baseball Bat Man, Satryn, Double Dragon, Dragon's Lair, 10-yard Fight, Mat Mania, Mayhem Brawler, Congo Bongo, Space Invaders, Donut Dodo, Galacticon, and a few others for many years to come.
My wish list that never made it included: Streets of Rage 4, Golden Axe, Golden Axe: Return, Crazy Climber, Sunset Riders (supposedly in the works, grrrr), Zero Team, Bank Panic.
Here's hoping that someone like Blaze, Sega, Capcom, Konami, Warner buys up what's left and kicks it into a higher gear. We really really could use this product on the market!
People think it was the Gold cabs that messed things up, when in fact it was wasting two years pursing a mobile app instead of building and expanding the core business. How do you go from saying you're bringing the arcade experience home by building an exceptional home cabinet with the ability to purchased licensed games you can own forever and then spend two years using the companies money and resources to build a mobile app so you can take the "iiRcade experience with you." Who the f*ck would want that? Goes against the whole model of the original business and what they sold us on. Now I'm just waiting for the mod so we can add the game they should have gone after instead of wasting everyone's time and bankrupting the company...

Indeed. I would have liked to have gotten one, but I could never quite justify it.
They had their steam going for a while and the future looked bright, but apparently they veered off into an unknown business direction behind the scenes and neglected their core business model (home arcade cabinet with retro and modern games).
We didn't find out until the bankruptcy announcement and it was basically a "wtf were they thinking" response. 2 years wasted on a whole different business model...what a shame.

So, I have recently acquired 2 copies of Artillery Duel from 2 separate lots. Unfortunately, both copies do exactly the same thing. Once the cart is inserted into my console and I hit the reset button, the title does not appear in the list of games. Does this videocade notoriously fail or did I just get really unlucky with both of these copies? I have leaned the contacts on the videocade, but still no change. Has anyone successfully resurrected their defective Artillery Duel videocade?
That's interesting, the only BNIB version of Artillery Duel I own was also dead out of the box, I'm wondering if there was a bad batch or if all of them (AD) are prone to failure?

I'm interested in the Super Pro System label if it turns out you don't need it.

That was supposed to read "here or on Facebook" 😉

Best ask @batari if there is anything to mind to make sure you don't brick it with a wrong firmware update.
Thanks man!

Cool, so I can follow along in the Concerto thread, any updates / firmware for this version?

I came across this 7800 flash cart I bought years back but never used and for the life of me I cant remember who made it, was it still supported and where the thread on it is. I've gone through all my subscriptions and I can't find it.
Can anyone help with this? The postage shows 10/27/2016 and it came from Portland, Oregon, but I don't think I can make out who sent it (pretty sure I bought it from the creator).
I'm boxing up my collection for storage so it would be nice to know what it is.

Fantastic! I will have to try this later!

Absolutely beautiful man, this coming from a long time Bally / Astrocade collector 😉
I had the Computer System Model as well as a teen, so I can dig your choice.
Bally / Astrocade controllers are hands down the best of the best of the best, hands down, but I bet this beast would give them a run for their money.
-
Same here, always had access to Radio Shack for all my projects, wish they were still around the corner...
Funny thing with the CoCo - mine was my Uncle's, he worked for Raytheon when I was growing up, first home computer I ever used, my Cousin and I played the heck out of it. The guys at Raytheon had a "club" where they would buy the games for the CoCo and make copies for the rest of the club. They even copied the physical cartridges to disk!
Polaris was a great game for a Missile Command clone and used the non-centering joystick to great advantage if I remember correctly. My Uncle actually mailed me that very same CoCo and everything he had to go with it during Covid as it was collecting dust in his attic 😉

Very nice! I've used those little Radio Shack controllers (nicknamed the "black beauty," I think) and they're okay for some games but terrible for others. I'm glad to see you tinkering around on the ol' Bally!
Adam
I still use those controllers with my TRS-80 Color Computer 😉

While this sounds amazing and certainly people have wanted this controller preproduced for years, if memory serves the original controller wasn't all that user friendly to begin with, so I'm not sure recreating it makes that much sense, other than for personal satisfaction.
I have often hoped someone would make a trackball compatible with the Astrocade and / or one that could be used with the ICBM attack game. Previously, the game itself was hacked to work with the standard controller, but its literally unplayable.
Either way, I wish you luck in your endeavors. Its always good to see people working on my favorite console from that era.

These versions do not use Pokey - They use (improved) TIA sound, or Yamaha sound if the cartridge detects it.
I watched the video Albert posted and holy crap that audio is fantastic for TIA! Amazing work on this cart! Saving my pennies once Christmas shopping is paid off.

I think you answered your own question: its the "original" Malban version 😉 Keep in mind thats the asking price, doesn't mean it will sell for that or even anything close.
