  1. Could be, but it's not like there aren't other Conan protos out there, as well as the ROM already dumped. That price has Crazy Eddie written all over it...
  2. I don't think Steve / classics has been on AA in a while, have you tried reaching out to him directly via his site: https://www.atarimax.com/ You can also access the support forum from there.
  3. The tables are $700 now? For what? The form factor looks no different than the gen 1 head to head tables.
  4. Sorry, I call the plexi that covers the cartridge storage area the "cartridge bay cover." Never knew what else to call it. The one that in this case should have an "Astrocade" label on it and not "Bally Computer System" label.
  5. Thing is Adam I've never seen an Astrocade branded console without the Astrocade cartridge bay cover (nor would I want one). Other labeled "Astrovision" labeled machines we've seen with all sorts of tops (mostly Computer System) but never an Astrocade. My guess is it was swapped, but there's always a first time! The 4 Astrocade branded consoles I own all have Astrocade matching top / bottom labels.
  6. I can't see any serial # in that photo on my phone, what number is it? It's too bad it doesn't have the original cover.
  7. I saw your FB post, it would be nice to see this thread finally get some attention (I hope!). I know what you mean about the AA format - I dont think I'll ever get used to the way things are outside of these types of forums (I guess this is what it means to grow old? ?). The cabinet has always had its three groups: old school arcade nuts (like me), the modern men and their "I want Xbox and Playstation titles!" (ha!) and then those inbetween who seem to enjoy both. While I've been an advocate of the arcade only titles, I have embraced some of the newer games as above all else, I'm still a gamer at heart. If it keeps the system alive and allows it to prosper, more power too it. I do not think the flat out "this system is doomed if new games don't come out" philosphy is going to help anyone. But it doesn't hurt to kick iiRcade in the pants every now and then and remind them without new games, we have nothing to play...
  8. The price threw me too, until I realized it like a membership, covering anything you buy from BB.
  9. I love when employees don't have a clue about their own products. Not saying this would cover the Tron cab but here's an excerpt from that coverage (BTW its listed on the same page as the cab to "add to cart"):
  10. Still haven't put mine together as I was debating returning but I should really assemble and test it myself. By any chance did you look into their "totaltech" plan? It says up to 24 months of product protection on most purchases, wonder if this would be covered?
  11. Remember when playing games just used to be about having fun? Ah, the good old days...
  12. Completely missed that! Too funny. As somebody who grew up with games, gadgets and some of the coolest toys (I miss my Micronauts) I'm fascinated by the whole homebrew community and all aspects of it. "Piracy" when it hurts things is one thing, but I don't see this as the case here. And this isn't something new, games have always "borrowed" aspects from other games in one way or another. From my first Opcode title (Space Invaders), CollectorVision (Mr. Chin) and even beta testing for Team Pixelboy (Girls Garden) I've been hooked and wouldn't want to see anything affect them like it did a few years back.
  13. I was going to say "issues" but I guess some people have nothing better to do.
  14. If I can get Ken Lill @kenzre to join in he could probably shed some light on things, I know he's looked into video mods before.
  15. Yeah, the console has a following but it's tough to draw new people in.
  16. I'm not so sure about that. People have kicked around coming up with other ways to get video out of the Bally / Astrocade for years and to date 8bitDomain was the only one to do it successfully and get it to the masses. Even old timers from the yahoo group haven't done anything video related currently (there was supposed to a Composite mod but that never took off). Honestly S-VIDEO is dated now to begin with. I'd like to see an RGB mod that we could use an existing RGB to HDMI cable with like the RAD2X cables.
  17. I had such high hopes for that title (CC), here's hoping we get a more arcade like port from CollectorVision down the road.
  18. Fantastic that dual stick control was included, looking forward to this title.
  19. Interesting, my last 1Up was about a 30 minute build, but it's been a while. I just got my Tron from BB the other day so I may put it together this weekend. As I opted for $30 instead of the financing + another $100 off from a BB CC coupon, I was OK getting it for $569.00. Still wished they'd used the voice ROM for Discs of Tron, or enabled that feature.
  20. I was under the impression only first gen boards were hackable to add games, at least that's all I've ever seen advertized.
  21. Very cool, watched the video on YouTube. I used to play the heck out of Space Fortress aka Space Zap on my Astrocade back in the day, crazy game!
  22. Theoretically, yes. I had hoped to build a 64k extended RAM add on for use with any games we might have released with the 512k bank switch cart. https://msdconsulting.wixsite.com/128kgames
