Pac-Man Collection (ColecoVision) completed. Going beta test
128Kgames replied to opcode's topic in Opcode Games
Have to agree with you there Eduardo; I sat down opening night with my wife and found myself saying "let's see how bad they screwed this up" right as the lights dimmed, only to find it a thoroughly enjoyable Sci Fi Action flick. Very well done (just like PMC!) and I'm sure we can look forward to a sequel or two. Once they though the whole "alternate r******" thing out there I was like "OK, so you're not messing with MY 'Trek really, just creating a new one, much like the whole "Mirror, Mirror" episode and how it was carried over to the Next Generation and DS9 shows. Sorry, off topic, I know, but hey, PMC is great too, by the way. Like I stated in a previous post, great job. -

That's the question - why doesn't Opcode choose to sell additional carts through AtariAge after their initial production run. I have been told by Opcode that it is not cost-effective for them to manufacture additional carts so the question is why not sub that out to AtariAge? Maybe it's just none of my damn business but I want their games without having to fork over several hundred dollars! : ] If you can wait for the next batch, you shouldn't have to fork over any more money then the rest of us did for the first batch. -

I think the perfect pack in game for the OPGRADE module would be Donkey Kong Arcade! What better game than the "enhanced" version of the original pack in game for the ColecoVision. -

Received the cart yesterday, looking forward to firing it up later on tonight. The entire package (cart/box/instructions) looks fantastic! I'm sure the game will play as good as it looks. Congratulations on the release to everyone involved. I salute you two times! -

NICE! -
The Atari 7800 joypads do work with the Colecovision and the two buttons function just like the left and right buttons on the Coleco controller. That is awesome news! I'll be ordering a set from Best Electronics on Monday. Thanks for the info!
-
Ok Pixelboy, and Ataripaddles may well still be bought, perhaps via ebay ?. I'm waiting to buy Paddles until you an Opcode have decided which controllers it should be. And if we do not buy paddles, the game is still played with the regular standard controllers. ten-four- Thanks for the joystick info, unfortunately for me my hands aren't what they used to be so modding a controller is probably out. Given that I will probably pick up one of the Atari joypads anyway and see what happens. Since the Coleco is compatible with the Atari joystick and others like it, I'm sure at least one button on the joypad will work. If I get two like I'm looking for, lucky me. I'll post back here with the results. Oh, and if you or anybody else is looking for paddle controllers down the road, just look to Best Electronics for them and save yourself the eBay hassles: http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/quickguide.htm

OK, this is a little off topic I know, but since an Atari paddle was mentioned and it's compatibility came up I was wondering if anybody knows if the Atari CX78 Joypad works with a ColecoVision? These are the joypads that were packed with the 7800 overseas, I believe. I'm hoping that 1) They are and 2) Both buttons function as if they were the left and right buttons on the Coleco controller. My current disability (I have bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome) makes using the stock Coleco controller a real pain (pun intended).

Eduardo- Looks Fantastic! Glad you were able to finish this game, after all the time and effort you put in! I haven't been on AtariAge a whole lot lately (busy with baby # 2 now) but I'm glad to see everything coming along on this title, finally. I'm sure Luc will have his hands full when this is finally ready for distribution, but from past dealings with him both before and after taking over OPCODE I know he is more than up to the task, and that the game is in good hands. Now, to explain to my Wife why she won't be getting anything for Christmas... -
Big thumbs up to the Atari 5200 USB flash cart!
128Kgames replied to ninermaniac's topic in Homebrew Discussion
It is compatible with M.U.L.E., just join the message board and you can download the ROM: http://www.atarimax.com/flashcart/forum/viewtopic.php?t=329 Steve posted instructions on how to get it to work with the cart. -

To quote George McFly: When the hell did this happen?!? Seriously though Luc, what happened with Opcode? I though you were taking over and planned to release your own games? Now that's not gonna happen? I'm all confused... -

Anyone else received their carts yet...? -
Not necessarily, Steve. It all depends on the cost I think, if you could do it for a reasonable price. Now what that price would be, I don't know. Me? $25.00 sounds good. You've always been good with advertising your stuff when it's available so again if the price is right I'm sure many people would take you up on it. Of course, not knowing what's involved on your end, I'm just throwing a number out there. Packing up the cart and sending it back to you is the easy part.

DONKEY KONG ARCADE! PLEASE!!! That being said: Eduardo, wish you the best man, always had good dealings with you and your games were top notch. I'm sure Luc will do his best to carry on that tradition. -Michael

Luc- Is the site down? Went there to read your blog entry and I'm getting the old "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".

Colecovision Controllers, anyone have this joystick type?
128Kgames replied to Phantom's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yes, you are correct, I had bought these back in the day for my Coleco. What a difference they make for the stock controllers, wish I could find them for sale today. When I sold my system the "balls" went with it since the silver disks had gotten a little mangled when I removed them. Not sure who made them, but they would have been advertised in one of the video game magazines back then. Now if someone can reproduce these things and put them up for sale then you would really have something! -
I actually think the new PCB idea is pretty brilliant. While I have never had any problems with the CV systems I have, they are not getting any younger. Places like eCOLECO may be around now, but maybe not forever. If the original board goes bad, I may be SOL. With a replacement, I can pack the original PCB away for safekeeping, and be able to take advantage of the features of a new board. That, and not having one more peripheral device to put on display with the rest of my collection! (Any more collectibles and I'll be looking for a new house for more room!) I also like the idea of the modern video/audio outpouts without having to modify the existing system with something like 8bitDomain produces. I really hope this new project becomes a reality.

FYI as of the January 27, 2008 blog entry, OPCODE is back: http://www.opcodegames.com/blogs/blog10.htm If this was posted elsewhere, I apologize.

Sorry but no, I'm more the die hard Astrocade collector than the tech head on it. But the guys on the Yahoo group really know their stuff, and I'm sure could answer it (riffraff is a member there as well). As far as cart shells go, I don't think finding them would be as hard as you think. I know a guy (doesn't everyone?) who could probably help out in that department, who regularly sells carts on eBay six at a time (new/sealed). I tried buying out all his stock a few years back but he just keeps coming up with more (has a shed somewhere piled high with them if I remember correctly). While I'm not a big fan of saccing perfectly good carts like this, it's for the greater good if it means a new Astrocade game. Besides, the game boards don't have to be sacrificed, unless they are needed for as well.

Finding cart shells has to be close to impossible...how will you deal with that? Also, what kind of followng do we have left in the astrocade world? Is Bally Alley even still around? Yup....still there...in case anyone is interested.... ...here is a link. http://ballyalley.classicgaming.gamespy.co.../misc_docs.html You might find this link a little better: http://www.ballyalley.com/ As far as what type of following is left in the Astrocade world, many of us are also on the yahoo group: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ballyalley/ So let's just say, if you build it, we will come.
