480p works!

Glad you're not rushing! Hopefully at the minimum an option for 480p, much like the RetroTINK line of upscalers or the RAD2X cables (based on RetroTINK tech). Reason being many 4K sets and receivers like mine won't accept anything lower than a 480p signal. I'm guessing the ColecoVision is normally 240p? I wouldn't want to have to find an HDMI upscaler to use the SGM2! Fascinating news all around, Eduardo!

They can surely update this info but they already stated that they have no plans for any new SGM with the Phoenix, only the current model.

Sorry, but not everybody is a "pinball wizard" and to assume its only you and a select few who "know how to play" is just plain arrogance. So yeah I'll stick with watching the average joe's video's thank you and not someone who claims to do QA for the manufacturer. So you're saying the spinner on the Legacy Atari cab actually spins more than 1 or two revolutions? So what PDubs got a bum cabinet? (3 minutes 55 seconds in): Oh and mod it myself? That's so 2018! Sorry, I never bought these cabs to mod, I bought them for what they were, $300.00 3/4 cabs. If "mod it yourself" is Arcade1Ups new logo, I'm not surprised by what they're putting out. Examining a product and coming to the conclusion that's its just not up the standards I expect isn't coming up with an excuse, its being an educated consumer. If 1Up wanted my money they should have built the cab correctly, period. People will and have moved on to other companies, as its apparent 1Up is just out for the cash grab, customers be damned.

Progress - somewhat, but they have also taken 1 step forward, 2 steps back clearly on some cabinets. The Legacy 12 in 1 for instance, no forgiving that. I for one was looking forward to it as a possible replacement for my 1st gen Atari 12 in 1, but not now. It just seems no one actually plays these games in prototype form before signing off on the final design. I hear the control deck on the legacy cabs is not convenient or comfortable for some players. Same thing with high scores not saving and unlockable characters not staying unlocked. Also, unless Simpsons has some out of this world unlocks, that's mighty steep for one game.

In the review videos, it spins like one rotation; better than the 1st gen cabs but that wasn't a spinner anyway but a dial which clicked in various positions. Spinners gonna spin...
-
Apparently the new spinner is crap too, which makes absolutely no sense: 1Up sold a replacement spinner for the Gen 1 cabs that worked fantastic. For some reason, that's not what they used on the Tempest cab. It's like 1Up wants you to fix their mistakes out of your own pocket. Might as well replace the whole control panel while you're at it to fix those buttons...

The Supreme Mortal Combat was uglier than shit, and sold out to morons thinking it was bitcoin. Nobody in their right mind picked that up. Assuming people are going to keep buying whatever they put out will be their downfall.
-
Angled? Well, maybe. Wouldn't be the first time they showed one thing and released another.
-
Ah, that is a shame, I'd want the option to rotate on the fly. That would have sold me on it. That single unique feature would have differentiated it from every other cab. I'm sure the design is already set in stone but some type of quick release might have been better than screws.

Bill I have to say I think the mini has some possibilities, the rotatable monitor alone should draw people in. Shame its not 2 player by default and missing a trackball and spinner, hopefully you guys come up with something down the road. Pictures are slightly confusing as one picture has side buttons and the other does not - are they included? Are there any other posts on AtariAge about the mini as of yet? I'd like to follow for updates. Also, any plans for different theming other than Tetris?

Having 2 Neo Geo Gold cabs I'm used to the iiRcade type speaker configuration. And honestly, with 100 watts on tap, the speakers sound amazing in your face. The vertical games on the 19" monitor aren't that bad, so I can't see them releasing a cabinet with a vertical screen. The cabinet design is what it is, being a bartop with optional stand. Honestly, the quality of the iiRcade cabinet blows all others away. I wouldn't mind them releasing an updated control panel adding a spinner and trackball, but that could be an issue as the system board is part of the control panel. The game packs and updates for the MVSX have yet to materialize. Their Facebook account has responded that it's still being looked into. A LOT of people have taken advantage of the hacks available for it in the interim.

DOUBLEDOWN Custom ColecoVision Controllers
128Kgames replied to doubledown's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Reminds me of the size and quality of the original Neo Geo controller that came with the US Gold and Silver systems. -
The replacement spinner they sold for their gen 1 cabs is fantastic - I bought it for my Asteroids Deluxe cab to save some money (I have a GRS spinner on my 12 in 1). The fact that they didn't use a part they already had on hand that actually works has me questioning who's steering 1Ups ship...

Wrong button placement AND crap spinner? Who's running the show over at 1Up now? That's sad, just sad.

Actually, the reverse order of your pictures: The Pro Arcade "arcade" box was first, Bally Professional box second, and Astrocade box third. There is also a variant on the 2nd box Bally Professional for the White "Montgomery Ward" branded Professional Arcade models. It has a sticker (I think its a sticker) showing the white console and that it comes with two controllers. At least thats how mine looks. So I'd say the Montgomery Ward variant box is the rarest, followed by the "arcade" box, then Astrocade and lastly the Bally Professional box.

1 or 2 other on eBay; 1 had a ROM switch to use with the different console ROMS. Although I guess 1 ROM was left out? Unless 2 ROMS are basically the same? No idea. That one sold for $595.00 back in 2017 I did hook mine to a Computer System model once but it didn't diagnose anything. I think you mentioned it probably needed an updated version of the BalCheck ROM. It was cool to connect it and see it power up.

Actually those are Ballycheck devices, basically 3rd party versions of the BalCheck devices used in house at Bally and / or possibly Nitron. ? There's a picture of a BalCheck device on ballyalley.com from my collection: It's the Grey box on the left. While nowhere near as cool looking as the 3rd party ones, the motherboard inside is stamped Nutting Associates if I remember. One of these days I'll have take better pictures, inside and out.

They could have just used the control panel layout from the Atari 12 in 1 and just updated the artwork.

Damn, and I thought I was aging poorly. Well, at 53, as someone who grew up with the entire industry back from the days of Pong to the present, I most definitely would and have noticed. One should never assume what others would or wouldn't notice or care about, especially a corporation. That's just bad business, and my point exactly about 1Ups utter lack of caring on this new cabinet. You would think they would have learned with the Super Pac-Man fiasco, but it seems they just don't care. And that's when you start losing customers. I was a day one supporter of their products when everyone it seems was against them. Now, I've moved on to other companies like Unico (MVSX) and iiRcade (iiRcade) with better products, support and feedback to their customers.
