Dream Classic Arcade...which 10 games?
Radio F Software replied to atarilovesyou's topic in Classic Console Discussion
10) I dont quite remember the name of this, but you sat on this weird red motorbike and you had to run over Stars on the ground on various wireframe levels, one of which was named The Cakewalk... it was pretty fun. 9) Roadblasters. San Francisco RUSH. (It's DANGEROUS!!!) Not sure how "classic" this one is, but it's definately a staple in any arcade. 7) Ivan Ironman Stewart's Super Off Road. Pure genius, I love the little pickup trucks. I've got this gem on SNES. 6) Smash TV. Walking one way... shooting the other way... and the bothersome announcers. Awesome. 5) Galaga. I have wasted much money in my years playing this game... and I can still never get Perfects on those Challenge Stages. 4) SNES Power Station. These are fun. SNES system in an arcade cabinet with a time setting. 3) Space Invaders. 2) Time Crisis. Gun games = hours of fun. 1) Gauntlet. -

I am using Bit Hacker to edit the GFX of Custer's Revenge (LONG story, don't ask... it's an inside joke for my friends... ) and every time I make even the TINEST of edits and save it, Stella and Z26 refuse to play it and crash. I started off editing "MYSTIQUE" into "RADIOF*2006$" (Dollar sign is the Radio F logo). I am saving it as a BIN file, and I even tried just renaming the original to see if it was the name messing it up. It wasn't. To contest, I scribbled on the GFX of Space Invaders and it worked fine when I booted up the modified version. So... did Mystique like, NOT want people to start making jokes with their games or am I just a total idiot and I'm missing something real small? I am kinda figuring it's the latter, since I haven't modified anything in over a year. Thanks. -RFS

Why you lucky little.... For $14 that was an awesome "bonus" for such a rare find.

Someone should post a picture of a car on eBay and say they are only selling the little dashboard ornament.

Combat (2 of them), Pitfall, Space Invaders, Pac Man (2 of them), ET, Frogger, Asteroids, and Missile Command. My predictions. Very rare indeed. So rare I am sitting on a freaking goldmine right now.

1) How old are you? >Seventeen. 2) What sex are you? >Male... 3) When did you get an Atari? >1993, Age 5. 4) When did you become involved with the Atari? (i.e. you wanted to play this over newer systems at the time or today). >I found an Atari 2600 and 10 games that belonged to my mom and dad in the garage when I was little. I asked what it was, my dad plugged it in for me, and I played for hours. At the time, the pure crappiness (for lack of a better word) kept me entertained. 5) Why the 2600? What does it offer to YOU that other systems, whether old or new, don't? >I am more of an NES man myself, but today I love the Atari 2600 because of its HUGE and always growing game library, and the ease of beingable to modify an existing game for fun. 6) What drink keeps you going? (in case you spend long hours on the 2600). >Youth. 7) How many hours a day or at a time do you play the Atari? >Not much anymore... always busy with school. I usually play it AT school. 8 ) How many days a week do you spend on it? >1 or 2. 9) Your top 3-5 games. WHY these choices? NUMBER 1: Lost Luggage Lost Luggage is a great timewaster. No thought needed, just pop it in and you're good to go. Fun to see what's inside some of the suitcases too... NUMBER 2: Bump N' Jump I like this game because it's pretty original. Drive fast and smash cars BUT, you have to jump over water and other hazards. It's pretty interesting, especially when the brown trucks start dumping oil and rocks. NUMBER 3: Target Fun / Air Sea Battle I picked this because I used to play this with my dad all the time. This was our favorite game besides Combat. Nothing really special about this game besides the memories tied to it. NUMBER 4: Taz / Asterix This game is cool because it is like Lost Luggage. Pop it in, and fire it up. No thought needed. Catch the food while dodging the dynamite, and then the game gets crazy fast and the fun REALLY starts! NUMBER 5: Fast Food This is another one of those "no thought needed" games. I like these kinds because when you only have a few minutes to play some games, you want something simple like this. I also like the quick reaction needed to do some of these games. [shameless plug]NUMBER 6: Pineapple 2000 Because I still have carts of this laying around.[/shameless plug] 10) Do you play any other systems besides the 2600? >I play my NES and Genesis often, too. 11) How do you view gaming of today as compared to the 70's/80's? >People put too much thought into how a game looks rather than how it plays. Back on the 2600 your "looks" consisted of barely discernable characters, so you HAD to have gameplay to have a good game. 12) Do you usually just play the 2600 alone or have someone play with you? (If so, is it a relative or friend?) >If I've got friends over (usualy DingleBats or Kickedsomeass from my site) we play. 13) Finally, do you or have you ever tried to turn someone to the "Atari side"? >Not directly. When my friend (Kickedsomeass on my site) saw my little collection of Atari stuff he asked if I had any extras or stuff. Lucky for him, I had a spare system, RF switch, power adapter, and about 20 games that I sold/traded to him.

Buy Bump N' Jump. You won't be disappointed. I have wasted MANY class periods at school playing this ROM which I ninja-saved into my school account. -

Atari's Landfill Adventures, I now have the proof it's true.
Radio F Software replied to Spud's topic in Atari 2600
Yeah, I just kinda went loopy like I do sometimes I guess... thanks for posting in my defense. I don't get many of those. I'm still new I guess... since I tend to post erratically all the time. I admit I am a bit ignorant of everything about the 2600, since I wasn't around in those joyous of times. My friends kinda think I'm crazy, because like I said, I vowed to start putting money away whenever I could so I could seriously go and make an attempt at finding them, if an AtariAge search team doesn't beat me. I might end up tanking a lot of money, or, if I find them, I might end up beingable to payoff the expenses... but hey it would make a nice book in the end... wouldn't it? -
Cool Gauntlet item I found thrifting

That's a pretty neat find there. The name "Klix" rings a bell to me... I'm pretty sure there's other ones out there based on other games, especially since that was made by Tiger. -

Well I saw a lot of comments that looked like everyone was just joking around for the most part. I apologize for poor judgement, then. -
Why are ya storing games in honey jars in your dreams? I've had a weird dream once. I dreamt that in my dad's workshop/storagehouse he found a water damaged box of "video game crap" he said and he gave it to me. They were all Genesis and 32X games I had never heard of, and when I picked them up they all began to fall apart, like the labels would contort, bend, and fade, and then fall off. It was freaky.

Radio F Software replied to Spud's topic in Atari 2600
(Hopefully being on page two isn't THAT bad of a bump... ) In all seriousness, I am still avidly interested in this topic, I just took an extended hiatus from AA to sort out my problems/work/school/college. I'm not try to beat a dead horse, nor purposely extend the life of a year old thread with BS posting and off topic humor. I was not around in 1983, hell I am not even out of high school but I do care enough to see this put to rest once and for all by means of actually trying to acquire the said property and looking there. Those radio signal boxes that can "see" through concrete are probably expensive, but are there any universities/colleges around the area that would be willing to take an "educational feild trip" to see if their technology would work in solving a REAL myth/legend? If anything, Spud obviously knows the general location of the area. Does anyone own that land? If someone DOES would it be possible to get in contact with the owner and explain the situation and politely ask if someone/group of people could examine that land, even maybe dig around (use the telephone drill that was suggested) as long as we put everything back the way we found it? This would of course be in no way a one day project, but if we could band a group of willing users and get some form of donation we could at least try to poke some holes in the ground. The companies that own those heavy machines really don't care what they are drilling holes for as long as you are paying them. I'm sure they'd gladly punch your name in the ground for Google Maps to see if you paid them enough. With that said, if no one owns the property, find out who needs to be contacted to excavate there and agree that you will move the dirt/whatever back when you are done, as to not damage the property. By the looks of Google Maps, I highly doubt it's owned for the sole purpose of ATVs, where are the jumps and stuff? It's just flat land that people are likely trespassing on to use it for that purpose. Im sure if someone DOES own it, and you DID find something, and the owner of the land understood the significance of the finding, that he probably wouldn't care if you searched the rest of the supposed "landfill" and got the proof out of it. I'm guessing the value of such "artifacts" would most definately bring in lots of money to help cover the costs of the whole ordeal. I mean, who WOULDN'T want an "Alamogordo Landfill ET Cartridge"? It would effectively put to rest a 23 year old legend. On top of that, having a few holes popped in the ground with found evidence would most likely get more donations to be sent in just by curious people and companies. The hard part would of course be getting the required equipment to actually start performing the excavation, and having to deal with New Mexico heat, but if something was found it would be worth the work. The problem with ME is that I'm 17 with no way of getting anywhere (my Ford would die before reaching Alamogordo) nor do I have any money to spare but a little bit from my website that I would have to "clear" with my working partner to donate away. I also lack the skills to do heavy research, since I am nowhere near the area. I'm still interested greatly in this matter though, but I understand if no one else really is all uppity about it anymore. I vowed to myself that one day I'd seriously put forth an effort to find this landfill -- by any means. -

Goonies II for NES
Radio F Software replied to sandmountainslim's topic in Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) / Famicom
I personally don't like it. I got the game when I was younger, I've had it for many, MANY years, and never once managed to beat the thing. It's too confusing of a game IMHO.
