  1. Both systems are worth buying. I have a game gear and 2 lynx. Must agree that a lynx display is a little light. Sometimes it's a bit hard to see thing on the screen because of the bright screen light. I also love the game gear since i used to own one when i was younger. Last year i bought one because i'd sold mine. It has a broken onboard speaker, this is what is a common problem with gamegears. But it can be fixed by changing a capasitor. Also a common problem is scraces on the display cover. But you still be able to buy replacement covers for at least the gamegear. I would say buy bought. They both are really nice systems that died to soon because of battery life.
  2. When you buy the linux kit for the ps2 you would be able to surf the web. Only satback is that u need the linuxkit and that will cost a lot. So i don't think that it is a good option.
  3. For psx try bleem as emulator. At this stage there is'nt any usefull ps2 emulator availeble, only a handful that play demo's.
  4. Official Nintendo says that all three units are the same system, only with new features. And made backwards compatible. Even the new nintendo DS is a follow up of the origenal Gameboy. Has backwards compatiblitie. Nintendo currently is working on a whole new model that is going to be the official a new handheld product. Why is it the same model: Gameboy: the original release 1989. Gameboy 2de gen: 1996 only has a smaller size with bigger screen. Gameboy color: 1998 Only has a as extra the color screen. Gameboy advance: 2000 step up to 16 bit power, still has a 8 bit processor to play the original gameboy games. Gameboy Advance SP: 2002 new design and finaly a frontlit display. Gameboy DS: 2004 because sony now has annouced to come with a portable system Nintendo has to make bigger chances to the Gameboy to make it compatiteve. Since the release of the Gameboy all new versions only had slide improvments. And unforcinally more and more ports from other nintendo systems. Now they made some more changes to the system stepping up to 64bit graphics, adding dual screen (like that reminds me of the old nintendo game and watch lcd games) Giving the console 3d graphics insted of 2d, and backlit screens, with one touchscreen. And wireless communicatie to other gameboy DS owners. But still it has backwards compatiblitie so i see it as a new version with improvements rather than a whole new system.
  5. @birdie3 When turned on with no game it will say: colecovision tm turn game off before inserting cartridge or expansion module c 1982 coleco c stands for the copyride logo. Nothing else. Only the gamecartridges i have, have a label on it saying that it is a pal version. The other link is my powersupply that rates 220v. But since the coleco has a detachable powerbase it is hard to tell what kind of console it is. Maybe the only link would be a mark inside the coleco on the motherboard that indicates what version the console is. Most likey somewhere near the rf-tuner. Glad you fixed the problem. Since i never opent my coleco before i wasen't awere of the trimpot.
  6. I own a pal version but i check everywhere but can't tell from the outside if it's a pal or ntsc one. There simpley aren't any pal markings what so ever. But on this site i found something that maybe usefull for you. colecovision faq 13.1) To fix a rolling picture/video problems: The problem is with the power switch. You'll notice that if you were to jiggle it a little without turning the system off that it will make a complete mess of your screen. What I suggest is that you desolder the power switch from the circuit board, take the metal cover off of it and clean all the contacts and re-grease them after cleaning them. Make sure the metal cover is REALLY TIGHT when you put it back on though. From then on if you are very careful when turning the unit on/off it should work OK for you. If you still have a problem go to an electronics store... and get a similar switch and replace it. Nothing else you can do really. - 05 Sorry if this is stating the obvious, but you seem to have a combination of an intermittent open and a heat sensitive component. Get a can of "cold spray" made for isolating thermal intermittents: should be a couple of bucks at a local electronics shop. If you can get the box open and get to all the components, it should be fairly straightforward to figure out which one is the bad guy. Actually, by your description (starts good, goes bad after 2 minutes, can be affected mechanically) leans towards a bad solder connection (or socket it the darn thing has them). It may be as easy as touching up a few solder connections. - 06 If the video problem is simply vertical lines dragging behind the sprites, it can sometimes be solved by using a different power supply. - 16 A number of problems (warping sprites, lack of audio, lines in sprites, etc.) can, in many circumstances, be solved simply by assuring a solid connection between the power supply and unit. This can require hardwiring the power supply to the unit. - 33 In some cases, sprite problems can be solved by cleaning the cartridge in question. But if the startup screen has letters screwed up, such as CKHACK, you probably have a bad DRAM. U10 is D7 and U17 is D0. CKHACK indicates a bad D2 line, which would be U15. General directions for replacing a bad chip can be found in Section 10.3. - 29
  7. I've hooked up my ps2 on the internet yesterday, and after some trouble with my router i was able to go online. I had to flash my router with new software. I played hardware online that came with my network access disk. It's a funny game if you have a spare minut or so. Most of the time i still will use my pc for online gaming. Love shooters and nothing beats a good keyboard and mouse. But i like the idea of playing online sitting on a nice chair in front of a bigscreen. Since i don't have other online games i don't know how the ps2 online scene is like. But i think that online play is just an extra for a game. Why? After a year of so it getting hard to connect to a server that has still a huge load of people playing a online game that is a year or so old. If you have a good game and the online part is just an extra, then it's not a big deal that almost nobody is playing it anymore, because you can play it offline insted.
  8. It's not a PAL console maybe? It also could be that you're tv-set tuner has trouble tuning in on channel 3 or 4. I've found out at a friend that his new tv-set hat trouble with getting clear picture on channel 3 and 4. When he tryed his set on a older tv instat the picture was clear. Because he had more trouble with this tv (a JVC) he trade it in for a Philips tv. This tv had a hi-end tuner and with this set he didn't have any trouble getting a good picture.
  9. I really like the style u are using. It trully looks very pro. I also would be intrestet how you are going to publish this.
  10. The best MSX system would be the Panasonic MSX turbo R. This is the latest version of the MSX. But saddly also the most expensive one. The laserdisc addon. I can remember them, we use to have them at our school for educational software. I think most of these systems in the Netherlands where used for schools.
  11. The 4-in-1 is a offical sega release. I've got a boxed gamegear with a packed in 4-in-1 game cartridge. It has the following games: Columns, Pan-American Road Rally, Penalty Kick en Championship Tennis
  12. Last summer i had a nice find. I'v bought a game gear for 5 euro, a mastersystem with 8 games for 12 euro and a Philips Odessey2 for 3,75 euro. This was just my lucky day.
  13. You can also use a mastersystem power supply. The link below is from a shop where you can by gamegear stuff, also a 110v powersupply for the gamegear. http://www.lik-sang.com/list.php?nav=left_...ub&category=230 I've had a gamegear back in 94. I really loved it, but always used a power supply because i wanted to spend my money rater on games then on batteries. Later i sadly sold the system with it's games. Lucky i've found one last year for only 5 euro. I only have to fix the sound as it only plays sound trough a headphone. Site with some info http://www.retro-games.co.uk/sega/gamegear...ar/gamegear.htm http://www.retro-games.co.uk/sega/gamegear...ar/gamegear.htm At this site you find a few diveren colored gamegears. They've appeard in cola-cola outfit, yellow, white. http://www.geocities.com/museo8bits/sega8_gg.htm
  14. For those intereset in boxed coleco games i've found to of them at a Dutch ebay page. http://stores.ebay.nl/NORTHWINDS-COLLECTIB...1QQftidZ2QQtZkm It a boxed space panic and a boxed venture game
  15. Hello, i'm looking for a offline database program to store all of my games in. Since i collect several systems it has to have a field that says witch system the game belongs to. I also want to include pictures of boxes, carts, manuals in it. Since i want to have as much info as possible on a game, the database should contain almost every possible item that is connected to a game. It may be a standalone db, or writin in excel or access. I hope that someone kan help me out.
  16. I think sometimes the rarity rate is misused to price a game. Since i live in the Netherlands, it's quit commen that games are fore sale (PAL games) that are rated using the atariage guide. Since the rarity guide only provides the rarity of titles in the US. Some easy to find games here are there fore marked rare here, while it's very easy to get hold of them. So i'm allways a littlebit caustios to buy a game that says rare on the guide, since it doesn't apply to europe.
  17. Just don't over rush it. When someone is very busy, it is easy to make mistakes. And a mistake with this would mean everything is lost forever. So just take your time to do this thing right.

    Joust P?

I'm sorry, but we are not wrong. Why the game says it is a NTSC game I don't know, could be mistyped. Maybe it is a label fault, made at the factory, or it is just a NTSC game dat isn't affected or alterd when played on a Pal machine.

    Actiplaque?

I've got a Pac-man (picture label) and a Space invaders (picture label) that have also heavy actiplaque on them.

    Joust P?

I've got the following games with the Pal marker on the endlabel: Missile Command (picture label) Pac-man (picture label) Ms. Pac-man (silver label) E.T. (silver label) Space invaders (picture label) Most others just have a Pal marker on the back of the cart, and some even haven't a Pal marker on them (but then again they might have come lose)
  21. I like the idee of Jagasian. I've searched the web alot and i have only found a handfull of programmable carts that can be programmed without a eprom burner. Unluckly they where all out off sales.
  22. Great cap. Nice show to. To bad you hadden't the keypad with you. Would've loved to see that work.

    Joust P?

The P of Pal stands beside the game name on the endlabel mostly when it is a Atari picture label. Sometimes this is also used on silver label carts. Mostly there's a P sticker on the back of the cart indicating that it is a Pal game.
