  1. No you can't. The PS3 both backs up and retrieves it's backup data via USB port. You'll need a separate external HD (Windows formatted). If you backed up on your 250Gb and then put it back into the PS3, it'd just get formatted.
  2. 36, not really overweight at all and not sad either. That said, I wouldn't really call myself a 'gamer'. That's more a label for someone who JUST games which, like all obsessions, is pretty unhealthy and, yeah, you're gonna be sad.
  3. The slim is the just the cheaper parts/slimmer model that console life spans usually get these days. While it does the same job, it doesn't have a power switch or the nice, touch sensitive standby and eject buttons. Given that the 80Gb PS3s are going to be sold of at the same price as the new ones, I'd definitely get the 80Gb. While you get less HD space, both models have insufficient space for a decent game library and notebook HDs are V cheap. I got 320Gb in mine and it cost peanuts. While the new one is supposed to be more power efficient (apart from having no power button!), I've never seen a problem with the old model. Mine runs very quietly and stays nice and cool.
  4. WipEout HD is definitely worth a download, especially with the new 'Fury' upgrade. That's some fancy racing. Little Big Planet is also completely spectacular if you're feeling a bit creative.
  5. Damage is fine, but I want blood on the windscreen. When you're having to drive one of those dull-ass family cars that you start the game with, I want a collision to be accompanied by a solitary childs shoe on the asphalt.
  6. I've been enjoying the demo, looks like I might have to man up and get the full game. It's a nice balance between slavish Pinball table simulation and totally computerized Video Pinball.
  7. Heh. Me too. Still, it's the only Wii game I bought the soundtrack to.
  8. Excite Truck. Awesome racer and still one of the most compelling reasons to own a Wii. The other machines have seen a glut of off-road racers, of varying quality, but none are as imaginative and flat out fun as this.
  9. @ Atari Richie - You do know you don't actually have to buy that game at all. I saw it, did the math, thought 'that's too expensive' and walked away. Oh, and please, a little decorum on this forum please, mate. Us English have a reputation for politeness, which is useful.
  10. The sound when your ship spawns in Defender (arcade). That big cabinet just made it resonate so well - awesome sound effect, Williams were so good at big sounds.
  11. Played it in-store last week. The motion-plus is pretty great. Loved the frisbee game. Still, for what it is, it's way too much money to get the game and the second motion-plus that I'd need. That thing needs to be almost free if it's going to get some traction. I fear it's Nintendo's 32x.
  12. 1. Endless Ocean (and this is number 1 by a mile) 2. Excite Truck 3. Wii Sports 4. Elebits/Eledees There isn't a fifth, I'm sad to say.
  13. Pretty much every series is dead to me now. I think I just get bored of the same thing time and time again. I still get occasional Pokemon releases but don't even attempt to 'Catch 'em all'. Perhaps the only one I stick with is Ridge Racer but 7 was arguably a bit sterile.
  14. This seems a smart move. The US is probably the only country where the Atari brand still really means anything.
  15. Ai used properly, ie. for imbuing NPCs with a passable conversational intelligence. Last time I saw that was Captain Blood in 1988. Come on! And I second Space ship cockpits. What lunatics in the industry think that people don't want to fly about in space ships?
  16. STILL playing Fallout3 on PS3. 100 hours and counting, and I'm usually a five-minutes-every-now-and-then gamer. Picked up a copy of Revenge of the Gator pinball for Gameboy today. I play it on emulator a lot but a nice boxed copy for £2.50 was too good to miss.
  17. Hmmm, I'm not gay but will Xbox Live allow me to voice my interests in bondage, necrophilia and bestiality? Or am I just flogging a dead horse?
  18. ..and iTunes music is completely DRM free.
  19. I find WiiWare games are just too expensive for what they are. Haven't been able to justify buying anything yet.
  20. Generally I hate timers, but Katamari Damacy makes good use of them, and they're not too strict.
  21. There is literally nothing I could add to that. Perfect.
  22. I think the world is getting a bit sick of JRPGs. There's never much variance in character design and plot. Even the Final Fantasies only seem to get good marks for technical proficiency. I used to love JRPGs but I simply can't go back to them after the likes of Knights of the Old Republic and Fallout 3. Can't really comment on 2D fighters, Street Fighter II held my attention for about a minute. Still, enjoyment and originality don't have to always be bedfellows - I'll still buy any new Ridge Racer. They're hardly groundbreaking.
  23. I loved it. It was my choice for the last gen (and I'm no Nintendophile). I must admit to mainly buying it for Rogue Leader. I was totally blown away by screenshots I saw of that and I had to have one. I wasn't going to wait for the UK launch either. Awesome system with some really astonishing titles. Sadly, the great games dried up quite quickly but I still fire it up from time to time. I think it gets used more than the Wii.
