  1. You wanna see the Intellivision version. Even the manual tells you not to play on the higher levels, as it can take the computer hours or even days to make its move. Deep Blue it aint
  2. No, I couldn't get on with the NES version - which was a bit of a blow cause the old Gameboy version ruled! The C64 version wasn't bad - I bet you could get an emulator for that
  3. Oh yeah, and foolishly changing my own subject - It might be because I'm not from US - but who or what is Cap'n Crunch????? Sounds like someone off a cereal packet.
  4. hehe, very good. But, back the task at hand, why 2600? This Hz thing sounds promising. I wonder, did it follow on from any previous equipment (serial number wise), I mean - what were the serials of the old Pong, Ultra Pong et al? On the doubling up tip, if the 2800 had sold in japan, would they then have got an Atari 5600??
  5. No, i have a seperate mouth for my mother. I had a C64 too, the games were great but it didn't have the same feel as my ZX Spectrum - that was so much fun just to tinker with. The C64 for me was basically a console with a keyboard.
  6. yeah, these are wierd aren't they? I've got the storybook and record of Star Raiders. I didn't know there were others.
  7. my 2600 is beautiful, woodgrained and shiny, small animals stand in hushed awe around it and angels dance when you turn it on
  8. Silly question really, but why 2600? is it a relevant number to anything or did they think it'd just sound good.
  9. yeah, stick a whole bunch of memory in that free slot you have in the mac (memory is SO cheap now anyway) and, I swear, it'll be like you have a new computer.
  10. c64's when wedged in the doorway, stop draughts better than vcs's. However, the 2600 jr is better for wedging piles of cut logs. I hope that clears it up
  11. You can't remake defender. They're just making a shoot em up with the same name. Defender looked like that, sounded like that and played like that. So it was defender. This remake thing is dumb. Anyway, I don't think modern gamers would look too kindly on a game where your average lifespan is about 30 seconds
  12. All of my shirts feature attract mode Hey A-Jess, why not revitalise some of those long dead VCS company names - Mystique springs to mind. Or activision or something. Is coleco up for grabs??
  13. OK, but you can pay for the stamps
  14. oh,....crap....after all that somebody beat me on the auction. haha Mind, just got a cool thing, that black 2600 jr that was apparently only available in ireland yay!
  15. I just fixed the contacts on my NES yesterday, and now the bloody cartridges won't stay down. I HATE THAT SYSTEM!!!! If theres one console that's better on emulators it's the NES
  16. hehe Scooterb23, sounds brilliant. We used to play Gridrunner on the vic20 as a contact sport, lose a ship, get socked in the arm, that kind of thing. I think I must have invented force-feedback
  17. On an (unintentional) halloween theme, is 'Frankensteins monster' for the VCS any good? Theres a PAL copy on ebay and I might buy it I heard fairly good things about it on classicgaming.com
  18. Oh yeah, and Ewan MacGregor sucked as well
  19. Yeah, call yourself Syzyrgy or whatever it was.
  20. Cool, when you go see this at the movies, for the full effect - take a joystick with you. Every scene change, push it in a random direction
  21. yeah - good point. i guess, being english, we don't trust the french too much with anything mind, if you can get 'em to woodgrain the PS2 i'll take my hat off to you. P.S.alright rindle - 'Mummy returns' then
  22. Its wierd, this place gives me a great sense of nostalgia. Wierd because as a kid I never had an Atari, or any console in fact. In the UK they were just too damn expensive - we all had Sinclair zx81s and ZX Spectrums (timex 1000 and 2000's to you US chaps). But I remember longing for one and seeing the ads in the press. there was this great ad - "Hey, I'll swap 6 of my games for one of your Activision" - "No way" And I wouldnt swap my copy of Pitfall for anything
  23. Best - i'd say keystone kapers (no surprise there huh?) I do like Adventure though, I imagine - somewhere deep down in the basic code of Zelda 64 lurks adventure Worst - um - Air,Sea Battle was a naff half-brother to combat and Dodge-em now props the cartridges down in my NES.
  24. Okay, my only reservation with this, and it is a pretty selfish one (apart from showing how little I know realtime) is that, being in the UK, I'd be logging in when you guys are going to work/ school/ beginning week-long meths binges..etc.
