  1. Just thinking about Scooterb23's message and wondering how many games of Dragster can fit into a whole day. Must be 1000s!!!!!!
  2. NOO! Don't work for 'new atari'. We've got to face the fact that what we loved has died, and you wouldn't want to be associated with the proud name of Atari getting further dragged through the mire, would you? The world has changed, what once was cherished and beautiful has now become 'Star Wars- episode 1' shudder
  3. Bloody XP!! When will Microsoft stop ripping off Apple?? They know they can get away with it I suppose.
  4. No. I like the format we already have here. Chat rooms usually start with the best intentions but end up being (a) REALLY cliquey and (b) just a constant barrage of 'how old are you?' type crud.
  5. I'll have to take your word for that. I dont know four people
  6. OH MY GOD! Something cool has actually turned up in MY country for a change. The things you see when you haven't any money Looks like it fits on a six-switch VCS - If only I hadn't spent all my cash on that Intellivision - I feel such a traitor
  7. Okay, as a UK citizen (or subject whatever) I've finally come to terms with the fact that the wonderful Pong machines were never released over here - SO I'm gonna have to import one. I'm kind of eager to know if an NTSC Pong machine will work on a PAL tv. I've got a pretty recent Sony that reckons it will run an NTSC signal as well as PAL. Any ideas??
  8. Video-Olympics. the basketball and Volleyball events in particular.
  9. I got mine in a bag The bag DOES have an atari logo on it though, I'm gonna have to work a bit at this retro-collector thing aren't I? [ 10-28-2001: Message edited by: liveinabin ]

    Game God

i gotta admit I usually suck at games (so I have basically hundreds of titles that just mock me), My average game of Defender is about half of the attract mode. Mind, I'd happily take on anyone in the world at Ridge Racer 4, any track, any car
  11. hehe yeah, The NES wasn't exactly a reliable system was it? If you marketed a toaster like that, you'd get them all sent back, us gamers are a forgiving lot
  12. Yeah, I could do with one of those for the mac, as a UK resident, we never recieved the 5200, so I'm unlikely to ever come across one in the wild.
  13. A system is only as good as its games, so...er...Jaguar. Sorry. The 2600 still has valuable qualities today, but as soon as the Playstation and Saturn came along, well, you'd really have to be really in love with the Jag to get anything out of it.
  14. Ohhhh yeah! It's games like Keystone Kapers that really drive home how much better videogames were then - your parameters and tasks are clearly defined, and theres just an outstanding sense of fun hehe - opened a can of worms there I think
  15. Just got myself an intellivision (which sits quite happily with my beloved 6-switch woody vcs), yeah - you've got a point about the controllers, but when I get used to em, I'm sure they'll be fine. And there aren't nearly enough Activision titles for it There is ONE thing though, where the intellivision wipes the floor with the VCS - the speech unit - oh my god, it's like seeing sinistar for the first time, all over again!!
  16. oops. forgot the worst one! well, where to start?? Operation Wolf or Commando. They started a downhill trend. Plus anything modern except for Crazy Taxi (which as far as I'm concerned is the logical progression of paperboy)
  17. Hmm, it'd have to be one of Star Wars (stand-up version, that MDF box never spoke 'X-Wing' to me) for Chase HQ (god alone knows why - idea over execution I guess). Mind, Buck Rogers and Disks of Tron have gotta get mention for the great arcade experience provided by the cabinet and controller. And Space Invaders and Defender for sound! Come to think of it, why hasn't anyone released a Star Wars controller for any console yet??
  18. well, it was quite innovative. But I think it gets pipped to the post by sweet licks, remember that? Thats that Namco game where you beat the living crap out of little poppy up guys with a sand filled mallet. Now thats progress! Oh yeah, and that wierd machine in the arcades that you put a bill in and it gives you coins. I don't think I ever lost at that.
  19. It wasn't a bundle of fun if you happened to be in London at the time
  20. I think all of them are pretty tough to earn the patches for nowadays
  21. makes sense, Atari didn't have the distribution backing of Warner until the 2600 did they? Anyway, at that time, all of us in Britain were still running about in the fog with our whips and tops. Anyone else able to add anything? I'd really like to know for sure.
  22. I've got a Mac so it's consoles or nothing haha. Anyway, if I'm going to spend a while playing a game I'd rather relax in front of the tv rather than be hunched up in front of a PC screen. I spend all day working in front of one, I sure as hell don't wanna be there all evening. It's like those people who sit there watching dvd movies on their monitors - wierd.
  23. My favourite console name of all time has to be the Radofin Prinztronic. what were they on? And while we're at it - how about the Super Cassette Vision - and you complain about Gamecube! I could never get on with SNES either, sounds like a nasal condition - mind, at least it didn't lie about having a drive, let alone a mega-one.
