  1. Well, the the next bit is to decide what you're going to do there. They have a freaking great bomb in the centre of the settlement. There are people in Megaton who'll want your help either way. This is where you start to define yourself as 'hero of the wasteland' or 'biggest bastard in videogames'. The shooter bit will kick off later, you've got some formidable enemies waiting for you out there. I do recommend, however, that you don't trash Megaton. Its a really useful base later on as you're exploring the wider world.

I know where you're coming from, it is a slow start and it's very non linear. However, this really does allow for a truly memorable and immersive experience. The Fallout world is superbly realised and the myriad little sub plots give it real life. Totally worth persevering with.

  2. The problem here is mainly that you're playing online. After the first week of release, pretty much ANY game is filled online by kids who just play that game - all the time - and you're not going to beat them. I've given up on the whole thing, it's just not worth it. Try playing with people you know who have a similar life to yourself.

  3. OOH! Brilliant! Thanks :)

Oh, as for killing time until that happy day - I've been doing some DLC: Mass Effect 2 (what little I can adequately download without feeling ripped off) and, after that, I might get Operation Anchorage for Fallout 3 - the only bit of Fallout DLC I've resisted till now. Is it any good?

After all this I should really finish Bayonetta.

  4. Help! I've eked every last drop of fun from Fallout 3 (225 hours logged) and I need something to occupy my mind until New Vegas.

I love everything about Fallout 3 - it's my perfect game - from the free exploration and true role playing (as opposed to JRPG stat juggling) to the awesome VATS system.

So, I've played through Mass Effects 1 & 2 which scratched the itch a bit. Tried Dragon Age (but hate the fantasy setting - where 'magic' is used as an excuse for anything).

What next? Is there anything I've missed in the sci-fi-ish RPG genre (on 360 or PS3). Do I just have to sit very still and wait till the end of October or, god forbid, do some work?!? Help.

  5. I've been picking up Collectors editions of older games pretty cheap lately. Got the Forza 3 box (with keyring, USB stick and loads of DLC) and the Street Fighter 4 box (with Ryu and C.Viper figures, costume DLC and extra anime disc). These were sitting around on the shelves, new, for less than the used price of the regular editions. Score!

Aside from those, I usually don't bother spending the extra on crap I don't need. However, the Fallout 3 lunch box is awesome!

  6. I just don't see it. Loved Bioware's sci-fi stuff but found Dragon Age to be really predictable and the characters one dimensional. Mind, I do have a pet hate of Americanized LOTR style fantasy. It just doesn't sound right. You need English or Nordic for that kind of setting.

  7. I've just got a gold account, not done anything with it yet, and maybe game room might be fun. What's everyone playing right now? Oh, and is there any hope that the arcade selection will extend beyond Atari and Konami?
