Backs away from the Internet...

I'd say 7. However, I am a lot less struck with the storylines of Final Fantasy games than I am with Square's other offerings, like Xenogears.

Well, the the next bit is to decide what you're going to do there. They have a freaking great bomb in the centre of the settlement. There are people in Megaton who'll want your help either way. This is where you start to define yourself as 'hero of the wasteland' or 'biggest bastard in videogames'. The shooter bit will kick off later, you've got some formidable enemies waiting for you out there. I do recommend, however, that you don't trash Megaton. Its a really useful base later on as you're exploring the wider world.
I know where you're coming from, it is a slow start and it's very non linear. However, this really does allow for a truly memorable and immersive experience. The Fallout world is superbly realised and the myriad little sub plots give it real life. Totally worth persevering with.

Outrun on XBLA. Genius game.

Beyond good and evil had a superb female lead.
Mass Effect is also better with a female Sheppard - thanks to the voice talent of Jennifer Hale.

These games all sound great BUT how great would they be if you could play them with a regular controller? I'm guessing they'd be exactly as good.
-
I wouldn't use alcohol. Just some warm, soapy water and some kitchen roll.
-
Almost certainly the arcade game, but I'm quietly hoping that this is the start of properly ported Saturn games.
-
What? There's a new Halo game? They should really advertise if they want people to buy it.

-
Modern Gaming. Given that today, you have a massive gaming ecosystem - where small publishers produce the kind of games we used to play on Atari/C64 etc for iPhone/XBLA and large publishers make the huge budget epic stuff for the mass market, it's never been better.
Sure, there's tons of crap about but, then, there always was.

Heh. I suck so badly at straight FPS games. I remember playing through Halo 2 and getting my ass kicked at every turn.
-
The problem here is mainly that you're playing online. After the first week of release, pretty much ANY game is filled online by kids who just play that game - all the time - and you're not going to beat them. I've given up on the whole thing, it's just not worth it. Try playing with people you know who have a similar life to yourself.

OOH! Brilliant! Thanks

Oh, as for killing time until that happy day - I've been doing some DLC: Mass Effect 2 (what little I can adequately download without feeling ripped off) and, after that, I might get Operation Anchorage for Fallout 3 - the only bit of Fallout DLC I've resisted till now. Is it any good?
After all this I should really finish Bayonetta.

Threw Bionic Commando on PS3 in the trash. But then retrieved it and sold it for £1 more than the pittance I payed for it.
-
Fallout: New Vegas and whatever Cave choose to drop on the iPhone.
-
Very cool box set, but yeah, it's way too expensive. Also, it's a new movie lightcycle which seems cool now, but when we've all seen the movie - which, given hollywood's track record, definitely won't be as good as the original - it'll be as desirable as a Jar Jar Binks toy.
-
Yeah, 'fraid so. Great games both. Pity the next one is an MMO and therefore ruined.

Help! I've eked every last drop of fun from Fallout 3 (225 hours logged) and I need something to occupy my mind until New Vegas.
I love everything about Fallout 3 - it's my perfect game - from the free exploration and true role playing (as opposed to JRPG stat juggling) to the awesome VATS system.
So, I've played through Mass Effects 1 & 2 which scratched the itch a bit. Tried Dragon Age (but hate the fantasy setting - where 'magic' is used as an excuse for anything).
What next? Is there anything I've missed in the sci-fi-ish RPG genre (on 360 or PS3). Do I just have to sit very still and wait till the end of October or, god forbid, do some work?!? Help.
-
I've found Fallout3 to be better than pretty much any other game ever. That's not hyperbole either, it's just such a complete experience. The only strike against it is that it can be a bit crashy, but that's par for the course in open world games.

I've been picking up Collectors editions of older games pretty cheap lately. Got the Forza 3 box (with keyring, USB stick and loads of DLC) and the Street Fighter 4 box (with Ryu and C.Viper figures, costume DLC and extra anime disc). These were sitting around on the shelves, new, for less than the used price of the regular editions. Score!
Aside from those, I usually don't bother spending the extra on crap I don't need. However, the Fallout 3 lunch box is awesome!
-
I just don't see it. Loved Bioware's sci-fi stuff but found Dragon Age to be really predictable and the characters one dimensional. Mind, I do have a pet hate of Americanized LOTR style fantasy. It just doesn't sound right. You need English or Nordic for that kind of setting.
-
I've just got a gold account, not done anything with it yet, and maybe game room might be fun. What's everyone playing right now? Oh, and is there any hope that the arcade selection will extend beyond Atari and Konami?
-
I like the way both Sony and MS waited for the world to get bored with the Wii before then releasing the exact same thing. It's a stupid, unnecessary panic move on both sides and it WILL fail.

as a fan of retro sci-fi, that gun rules.
Absolutely. That gun makes me want PS Move. I wasn't interested before

I got accepted for the beta but I haven't had anything through yet. Gah!!
Also, it won't affect my place on the beta if I cancel my Xbox Live Gold subscription today, will it? I haven't used it at all.
