Jaguar HSC Revamped, Season 4, ROUND 2
jeremiahjt replied to Austin's topic in Jaguar High Score Club
Is there some accepted "understanding" when it comes to shmups that all people in the world agree on? I like the game and the enemies, but maybe I just need someone to explain the intricasies of shmups for me to understand why I shouldn't like it. -
JAGUAR HSC SPECIAL - BUBSY - "Most Balls" Scoreboard

I didn't know Virtual Jaguar didn't do save states. I think the farthest I go was to the thirteenth platform, maybe less. -
JAGUAR HSC SPECIAL - BUBSY - "Most Balls" Scoreboard
jeremiahjt replied to doctorclu's topic in Jaguar High Score Club
Robert R, you seem to be an accomplished Bubsy player so I have a question for you. On I believe level 6, where you fight the giant, there is a series of cloud platforms you can jump to off of one of the tall tower parts. Have you ever explored those platforms? I have tried before but I have never been all the way through them. I figured it might be doable on an emulator. -

Jaguar HSC Revamped, Season 4, ROUND 2
jeremiahjt replied to Austin's topic in Jaguar High Score Club
New, slightly better score is 666,930. I cleared the first planet without dying and then lost almost all my men on the next space stage. I'm sure I can put together a million point run, but not as sure as last week. -
Jaguar HSC Revamped, Season 4, ROUND 2
jeremiahjt replied to Austin's topic in Jaguar High Score Club
My first score is 495,090. I cleared the space stage with no deaths, but I kept messing up on the planet stage. Hopefully I'll be able to get around a million before the contest is over. I did make it to the end of the bonus stage for the first time ever, so yay for me. -

Both quests or just one?

Jaguar HSC Revamped, Season 4, ROUND 1
jeremiahjt replied to Austin's topic in Jaguar High Score Club
None available. That's how far I got into the first lap before I threw my controller across the room. In all seriousness I did manage a 29.8 thereby satisfying my goal of getting a sub 30 second time. -

Which VCS game from Atari had first background music?
jeremiahjt replied to high voltage's topic in Atari 2600
Don't worry. In A few months, I hope to have a more complete timeline of Atari 2600 games. It will be easy to see which game was released first. How are you putting this timeline together? I imagine finding the dates for most of the 2600 games would be difficult, unless you're just using the year as the release date. I'm assuming you're also going for the month too though. -
I created my first sporcle quiz and made it about the 7800's library. Here is the link: http://www.sporcle.c...tari-7800-games Give it a try and let me know your thoughts, criticisms, and suggestions.

I know most people have probably stopped playing Game Room, but I still play it quite a bit. I have been trying to get the gold medal for point buster in Space Duel since it came out, but I can't even get close. I barely managed to get the silver medal. If anybody has any tips for racking up points in Space Duel please can you pass them along? I've watched a couple of gameplay videos to get some ideas but everybody in those videos seem to have some kind of rapid fire ability that I don't have.

I used to rent NES games from Blockbuster and I probably started in '89 or '90. I can only remember renting two NES games for sure: Dragon Warrior 2 and Super Pitfall. I'm sure I rented more, but I really can't remember anything beyond these two. It's wierd, but I cannot ever remember renting a Genesis game, but I can't imagine that I actually never did. My last rental would maybe be for the Sega CD. I remember playing Jurassic Park and Dracula Unleashed even though I didn't own them and I had no friends who had a Sega CD. So I either rented them or my older sister borrowed them from some of her friends, probably the former but I'm not sure.

[POLL CLOSED] Modes/settings on games for Season 4
jeremiahjt replied to Austin's topic in Jaguar High Score Club
That would be fun. Even if someone is not that great at Atari Karts they could probably still use the cheat to beat all the miracle races. That is what I did to get Miracle Man because the last two cups of Jaguar Aces are ridiculously hard. -

If on Atari Karts the same racer is chosen, I would like to request it not be Bentley Bear since we have done that before. We should choose a character like Ptarmigan who probably never gets used normally. -

Nice schedule. The only thing I would change would be to take out any game with a 2000 in the title, then it would be perfect. -
[POLL CLOSED] Vote for what games will be played in Season 4!
jeremiahjt replied to Austin's topic in Jaguar High Score Club
It looks like none of the platformers are going to make it. I'm kind of surprised, I figured two of them would make it if not all three. I think the theme for the season is going to be racing. Checkered Flag and Club Drive look like locks at this point and Atari Karts, Super Burnout, and Supercross 3D are in pretty good shape. Might as well figure out how to get Power Drive Rally in now too. -

I love Bubsy, but that damn lobster boss is a giant pain. My wife likes it too, which is why we both voted for it. -

I'll be sure to force the Punisher bike as the default then. No problem, I'll race with the Reflex Z or the Turtle bike and I'll consider it a handicap and just halve my times. Man, Zoop is dominating right now. I picked it because it was different and I didn't think many people would choose it, I was wrong. -
[POLL CLOSED] Vote for what games will be played in Season 4!
jeremiahjt replied to Austin's topic in Jaguar High Score Club
My wife and I might play this next season, I guess it depends on what games get picked. If Super Burnout is picked, the Punisher bike should not be allowed. It's a cheat and it takes away part of the game tactics. Also Evolution: Dino Dudes should be added to the llst, because I'm awesome at it. -
G4's 100 Greatest Video Games
jeremiahjt replied to jeremiahjt's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I was thinking about the best way to come up with a list like that and I had an idea that I think could work. The first thing I would do is take every game system and come up with a list of games that could possibly be considered among the greatest of all time. Now this wouldn't be a top 10 or any arbitrary number, but just the games that could truly be considered amongst the best ever. Take for example the Jaguar, I think a good portion of the people who are familiar with the Jaguar's library would say that really only Tempest 2000 and Alien Vs. Predator could possibly make the list. If you do that for every system I think it would make making the list much more manageable. Of course not all game systems are made equal, where as you have two entries with the Jaguar, you might have 50 with the NES or 100 with the Playstation 2 etc. If you decide to throw in PC/computer gaming and arcades those lists would be huge, but they would still make the process more manageable. You might end up with a list of games of 500-1000 you have to sift through to find the top 100, but that is easier then starting with tens of thousands of games to sort through. I think doing it this way would also diversify the list, making it easier for a great game on a "failed" system to make the list. It would be important to have people familiar with a console to make that console's list, so hopefully the cream of the crop would rise to the top. Once all the lists for each system are made only people familiar with a wide range of systems should be allowed to make the final list. A voter shouldn't have to be familiar with every single game, but you couldn't have a Nintendo fanboy who has never played a non-Nintendo machine vote. If you have a certain amount of voters who only know modern games, you would want around the same amount of classic gamers to offset thier bias. Anyways that is my idea explained in probably too much detail. -

EGM probably had 10 people or so make that list. 9 Nintendo fanboys and 1 Turbo Grafx fanboy. -

I had forgotten about Gauntlet and Star Wars Arcade, so a couple more Atari related titles. Although Atari is not mentioned at all in the Star Wars Arcade part. They say the game was developed by Lucas Arts, I always thought it was developed by Atari.
