  1. I never realized that! Thank you! I always found that game level brutal - the Hairies kept swooping into my house and swiping my guys before I could build anything. Its been awhile but I believe you have the level 1 weapon with a full bar ready to go so you can use it immediately. As I recall I had to use the flamehead weapon immediately upon entering 79 because there is a hairy that starts grenading you pretty quick.
  2. I am having trouble with the level 2 triple stacked bosses when they return in level 4. Their roll attack now kills in one hit and their regular swipe now kills in two hits. Anybody got any hints for beating these guys the second time around? Also how much longer is the game after these guys? I heard that there was only 4 levels in the game.
  3. Baldies is one of my favorite Jag games and I guess I'm one of the few people who have beaten every level. I can beat every level in under 20 minutes or so except for 79. Of course I didn't beat every level that quick because I occasionly liked to build up everything, especially once I got to a new world to see the new house designs, and just wreck the hairies with the helicopter. When I first got to 79 I started a thread asking for help and then I beat it and I gave a little walkthrough on how I did it. One thing to remember if you research a weapon to its maximum level (usually level 3 if not always) then when you start the next stage you will automatically have the level 1 version of that weapon at the start of the next level. I had to use that to get past 79. I went back to 78 and researched everything to max so I started 79 with a little bit better weapon selection.
  4. 27.6 When I play this game I find myself thinking did anybody at Atari play test game? Then on those rare occasions where I hit the turns perfectly I'm like this game ain't bad. Then I screw on the next turn and I'm like yeah this game sucks.
  5. I had around 380,000 when my power went out and I didn't have time to give it another go. Not my best, but like somebody said earlier it can take a long time playing to get a really high score with this game.
  6. So this game was 100% complete with all the bugs removed and playtested and all back in the day and Atari decided not to release it? That seems strange considering this was one of the games on the Jag CD box IIRC, so one would think it should have been finished still in the Jag's lifetime. Of course the Jag CD's lifetime wasn't that long and Atari might have seen the writing on the wall when this game was done. I guess I'm just wondering how the game got to this point. I'm always curious about the journey these games take before they get to this place. Unfortunately I'm low on money right now, but I think I might be able to swing it in the next 3 months or so.
  7. Is it memory cart compatible?
  8. 1,812,400. I could have had more, but I still got packing to do and had to get back to it. I knew that the two types of enemies would attack each other but I never really noticed until this play through. Early on when I was in the Alien ship I could hear the Predator taunting me so I knew he was close. I walked into a new corridor where I was immediately attacked by a couple of marines and then I heard the Predator scream. The Predator was invisible in between me and one of the marines and when the marine shot at me he hit the Predator. The Predator turned visible and then one of my cocoons hatched. When I went back to that spot I found a dead Predator, the marines finished him off for me. Pretty cool except for the loss of points. I never really played as the Alien that much so I didn't understand how the cocoon worked. Once one of the cocoons reaches maturity it doesn't hatch until your current Alien dies. It sounds obvious enough but I never knew exactly when it would hatch. A few times I found myself about dead with a cocoon ready to go and I would just kill myself with a barrel to get a fresh Alien (and the points from the barrel). The third thing I noticed was the high score list. Your entry is a different color depending on who you played as. I'm glad the Alien was chosen to play because 90% of the time I play as the marine and the other 10% as the Predator. I never gave the Alien much of a chance and always thought it wasn't that fun, now I know better. This helps solidify this game as my favorite Jag game.
  9. Are we going to go ahead and extend this? That would be ideal for my wife and me since we've been very busy lately with her graduation and getting ready to move.
  10. This one is probably going to be more about perseverance than skill. Since we can cacoon marines whoever is willing to wait it out the most is going to score a lot. Hopefully, this will make me finally beat the game with the alien. What cheats are going to be allowed? I personally don't like cheats, but since we established with Super Burnout that we allow cheats we better go ahead and figure it out.
  11. Care to expand on this a little bit?
  12. I completely disagree with using the Punisher bike so I guess I'll protest this decision by only using stock bikes. Of course that means I'll probably be destroyed in the rankings but at least I'll have my pride... or integrity... or something.
  13. There will be no use of the Punisher bike right? Part of the challenge is picking the right bike for each track and using the Punisher bike makes that moot.
  14. 42,325 I thought I had figured out the perfect way to rack up points by sitting on a floater factory and just blasting the floaters as they come out, but then I figured out that firing the photon cannon depletes your energy. Which of course leads to your destruction.
  15. If it's not too late: 257,250. I got stuck on Mental Blockage, but I lost so many lives on Mount Ices that I wouldn't have been able to beat the end guy anyway.
  16. To be fair, you did say the main forum page, which is this: http://www.atariage.com/forums/ If someone wants to put together a nice page describing the Atari 8-bit computers, complete with some spiffy pictures and stuff, I will GLADLY add "800" or something along those lines to the site masthead and have it land on that page. The page can then link to the Atari 8-bit forum. Perhaps that could be the impetus for me to spend some time updating the site so I can work in a proper 8-bit section (something I did actually start working on at one point). Perhaps this should be another thread. ..Al That would be nice (and I'm sure a lot of work), but I would really like a section for the XEGS like there is for the other consoles. The XEGS was created and advertised as a game console and not a computer, if I remember correctly, and it would be nice to have sections and rarity guides for all the Atari consoles. It would also be much simpler to just have an XEGS section compared to a whole 8-bit section.
  17. Not to get too off topic here, but did you ever discover the answer to my question I posed to you Doc? When we played Bubsy in the HSC the season before last I asked you about some cloud platforming on the giant level I think. I was wondering if you ever figured out where that path went.
  18. First score is 128,365. As far as easy mode changes, the only thing different is the number of lives and how many items you have to collect to get 99. On easy mode I believe you can get 99 without finding any secrets or killing any enemies and of course for normal you have to kill at least some bad guys or find secrets to get 99.
  19. Yeah that's why I was saying we could give the last place finisher a certain point total, because then we could use the 100 point rule to fill in the rest.
  20. How are we going to use the 100 point rule for a racing game that has times instead of points? I guess we could give the last place finisher an arbitrary point total like 0 or 50 and fill in the rest. I was just wondering and wanted to see if anybody already figured this out.
  21. New times with Skully 1'03"60 1'02"60 1'15"80 1'06"45 1'02"00 1'22"00 Total = 6'52"45
  22. You know I always get killed by that scorpion too. I always thought that I just wasn't as good at 5200 Pitfall! with the 5200 controllers as I was with 2600 Pitfall! You may be right though, it might be impossible.
