  1. The comments in http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/06/03/wizardry-labyrinth-of-lost-souls-now-live-on-psn/ basically have an instruction manual for this game.
  2. I am looking forward to this (and already bought it), just need to win a couple of more races in Gran Turismo 5 to try it out.
  3. I know nobody has any original ideas anymore and I am really sick of all this rebooting. I can think of Batman, James Bond, Star Trek and now Tomb Raider. Although I actually liked the James Bond reboot, the lack of originality in anything these days is rather sad.
  4. The free games part is still being worked on, according to Sony.
  5. Dragons Lair is now on sale for $5.
  6. Please do Snokie, me and a few friends have always made fun of this game but we would definitely participate.
  7. Mine was dying (stopped reading blu ray discs) but I was able to clean the laser in the drive and now it works great. If you are having a problem that really is dying, you can check on slickdeals.net for the best deals for a new PS3. If you don't mind jumping through a couple of hoops, you can get a new PS3 160GB slim for around $140. Amazon also usually has deals where you get a new PS3 for $300 and get a $50-$60 Amazon credit.
  8. I totally agree, it seems like the industry really wants to shift to a subscription based model with crap like this yet with their enormous greed, they still charge the new game prices as well so the customers get the worst of both worlds. As another old guy, I really don't like how they are having their cake and eating it too. It's bad enough we have EA shutting down online servers for their games a mere two years after they come out to force you to buy the newest version. I was looking forward to this after upgrading my PC but I cannot support policies like this.
  9. Terrible news, I never know what to say at a time like this. She was an extremely nice and friendly person who went well out of her way to help me out, building a video cable for me to connect my ST's monitor out to standard RCA plugs. She even sent me a postcard from where she lived in England in the package which shows how friendly she was and I enjoyed talking with her about computers of old versus computers of today. Rest in peace Alison, you were a great asset to the Atari community and will be missed.
  10. This welcome back package seems OK to me, I have been curious about Infamous and LBP and will check them out now. I just played the Witcher and the single player part of Gran Turismo 5 during the outage so I wasn't greatly affected. The only adverse effects of the outage were that I canceled my credit card that was hooked up to the PSN which I needed to do anyway and lost a couple of days of internet gaming with my brother. What I would really like to see from Sony is an admission that their launch systems' blu-ray drives are inherently defective as even my replacement drive is beginning to die on me and I know this problem has happened to a lot of other people as well.
  11. I am really curious about this one as I never got to play Wizardry back in the day. As I recall, it never came out for the Atari 8 bit. I am just afraid it is going to be like a lot of the remakes now and completely lose the things that made the original great. Although since I never played the original and as long as it's a good game, I may not notice
  12. To be fair and list something good, I love the fact that the PS3 can stream things from a media server, I have used a linux computer for my media server for a couple of years now and it works great.
  13. I wanted to pick several of your no answers at once. My beefs with the PS3 are as follows: 1. I bought a launch model PS3 60GB. It stopped reading discs 3 months after the warranty expired. Sony wanted $150 to fix it, so I bought a replacement drive off of Ebay and did it myself but I thought that was an outrageous price. 2. Removing OtherOS. I didn't care about OtherOS as I have a perfectly good linux computer but it is not cool to remove features from a device after you have bought it. I don't have an issue with them removing the PS2 backwards compatibility from later PS3 models because at least people were aware of it when they bought them. 3. Disabling a lot of USB devices. One of their firmware upgrades disabled my PS2->PS3 controller converter and a lot of other devices were disabled as well. It's not like I got an illegal Hong Kong import, this was a converter I bought at CompUSA. 4. No Cross game chat. I don't know why they have such a problem implementing this. 5. Constant firmware updates - After the PS3 encryption keys were published, I wish Sony would admit that ship has sailed. But they persist with constant and annoying firmware updates that greatly inconvenience legal customers. Sony's general attitude seems to be that annoying their paying customers is perfectly OK as long as they look like they are trying to stop hacking, which they aren't even doing. You can make a strong case that removing OtherOS led to the PS3 being hacked wide open as it ticked everyone off. I guess what I am trying to say is I am going to go back to PC/old games after this generation has run its course.
  14. Can you import your garage from the Prologue game, the only option I saw was for importing from the PSP game. Quite annoying since when GT5P came out, they clearly said you could import stuff from it to the main GT5 game.
  15. I would add a thanks to B&C Computervisions, I was glad they were there as I think they are the leading Atari computer dealer still in existence. Spent way too much at their table.
  16. I love the idea of a 4 player MULE tournament but it would take a long time, the 3 player games of MULE I used to play took about an hour, although that was on the longer tournament mode.
  17. I'll be interested in haggling for your 8 bit MULE.
  18. VW

How much would you want for your boxed 8 bit MULE, I would be interested in seeing it and will be at CGE.

  19. I went in 2001 and I remember the biggest money items being a prototype 2600 cartridge that Rob Fulop had that sold for $500 and a rare Venture II 2600 cartridge that sold for about $210. It is definitely not to be missed and I am looking forward to it.
  20. I'm not sure if the Sega Genesis is old enough to be considered classic but NHL 94 is revered by hockey video gamers to this day and Mortal Kombat II was a great fighting game that I think would work very well in a tournament structure, although if there's lots of kids we could switch to a Street Fighter. If I can help stage an NHL tournament, please let me know, I absolutely love this game.
  21. World Karate Championship, Ballblazer and Archon (default game would probably be too long but there are ways to shorten it, it is a classic game that I think should be played somehow) for the Atari 8 bit are great head to head games. Combat, Kaboom, Pele's Soccer for the 2600 are great, I think Kaboom even has a mode where one player can be the mad bomber and the other player has to catch the bombs, that might have been only in the 8 bit version but it is great fun. Those are off the top of my head, I will try to think of some more.
  22. I didn't know there was a PAL difference in this game. Also when you are playing does the game bog down and stutter at various points? I am playing on original hardware and the game runs faster when there are one or two sno-bees on the screen and it really bogs down to almost slow motion sometimes if you are pushing blocks at the beginning of a screen when there are lots of eggs and sno-bees in play. I also noticed and it helped my score that your penguin moves much faster horizontally than vertically.
  23. Well done Bounty Bob, it makes me even more ashamed to post a score update for myself that really doesn't mean anything I need to take a break from this game as the frustration I felt when I got to 200,000 with two guys left and then got stupid and ended with 219,980 could lead to controllers breaking and these Wicos are hard to find nowadays.
  24. Did Pharoah's Curse have a score? I thought you just got all the treasures and came back to the surface.
  25. Pardon the double post, I must have done something wrong while attaching.
