  1. So, what it boils down to is this. For a period of about eight years (1994-2002) Hozer Video was legit and everyone’s favorite video game “company.” After 2002, everything he made was essentially a pirate rip-off. The original poster didn’t say when he bought the carts, but being that you had to know Randy’s e-mail address after 2002 to buy his stuff, it’s a fair bet that these carts are “legit.” Unfortunately, until the OP tells us, we have no way of knowing. I think it’s probably safe, though.

    Holy cow, holy cow - I had no idea of any of this was going on. Sorry for the delay, but I'm currently selling my house and spent the last few days working and prepping it to go. I would have stuck around if I had known people were talking about this.

    So here's the skinny:

    I was a regular lurker on rec.games.video.classic back in '93-'97. I bought the games back then because I pretty much stopped collecting around then. I had around three hundred or so 2600 and a whole bunch of other crap. I carried it around for many years, but now that I'm moving I'm trying to cut down. I sold most in a garage sale, but kept a handful of games that I figured might be good on Ebay, including the SX and Etris. I had no idea about the controversy surrounding them.

    Let's see if I can dig up any old RGVC posts of mine... Uh..., here's my name in one.

    Anyways, at the time I bought them everything seemed hunky-dory.

  2. Re: Fade: You can get some (tinted? Ionized? Some kind of treated...) glass for 'cabinet doors' that protects the items under it from fading. Quality framing uses it for valuable documents or easy faders, like newspapers.

    Of course, you'd have to add doors to your shelves, but it's an idea...

  3. I've always held that Atari really pooched it when they just quit trying with sports games.

    Sports games really move consoles. Atari's last good sports game was RSFootball. After that, they really didn't try. 7800? Ninja golf? Please. Jag? Nope.

  4. Since they're private, they can *try* and do anything they want.

    Would this hold up?... I dunno, but if you got screwed it would be easy enough to raise enough hell to far outweigh whatever $30.xx profit they just made.

    Conclusion: seller == jerk

  5. The proxy system is much closer to that Nobel Economic prize winner system than it is to a real-life auction.

    While it seems like the buyer doesn't get as much as they should, the theory predicts that the buyer is actually getting *more* than they would under a normal system.

  6. I've begun getting rid of anything worth anything from my game collection. Once my dozen or so auctions are gone, then I'll bundle everything up in lots and get rid of them.

    End result will leave me with 10-12 games. :sad:

    Anyways...

    As soon as I can get to it, the Aircars, a bunch of 2600 ERs, a nice 2800, and assorted other bits.

    Hey! If you're still reading, what's the optimal size of cart lots? 10? 20? 50? 100? I've got about 300+ that I'm getting rid of...[/b]
